Irvine Welsh has said himself that he called it Trainspotting because only trainspotters can understand why they spot trains. To everyone else it seems boring and pointless, just like heroin use to people who dont take heroin.
@anonb46328 жыл бұрын
Iain Stewart It's also to do with Leith Central Station. When it was shut down, junkies used to use it as a hangout and it also represented how Leith had been cut off.

but its actually to do with the veins on ur arm after shooting up heroin. They go darker and u call it traintracks, which leads to Trainspotting
@paragraphs72357 жыл бұрын
but actually it's something to do with a scene in the book where they all stand near the train tracks and piss on the trains as they go past.
@wwtdd7077 жыл бұрын
Friedmansam, you're fucking stupid. Trainspotting has nothing to do with track marks. It's about waiting at Leith Central Station for a train that's never going to come; a high that you'll never get again. It's a direct quote from Begbie's father, the original Trainspotter. Read a fucking book and educate yourself .

For the most part, sex was and is the ultimate goal for guys to do in life. Women, on the other hand, knows this and some of them are totally using it to their advantage as part of perfecting their skills to be a real woman and consequently is the shit that keeps us the way we are... Now, some of the men, the straight and gay men are doing it too. lol (I wonder where this is going... Sex is actually the main addiction and the rest are just consequential damages).
@Palmieres7 жыл бұрын
Vincent Vega Well, you DO understand that for all females sex means something else, right? Males (mammals at least) don't get pregnant, don't have to deal with several months of not being able to hunt for food, or fend off predators. They don't have to spend a substantial amount of time raising and feeding their kids. Some, however, do it, because if a kid comes along, it's their offspring, their blood. Because of the time and effort it takes to raise a human our brains evolved to develop bonds and create families. That's why people fall in love, in order to WANT go stay together while the kids grow up. Contraceptives are relatively recent things compared to how long humans have been around, so even though we can have sex minus the pregnancy our brains still work as they did hundreds of thousands of years ago. So it's a biological impulse for men to want sex (news flash, women want it too, if you're doing it right) and women usually want an assurance the guy will stick around for a while. Using biology to justify casual sex is very innacurate, mate...

I think that the only point missing is when Kelly Macdonald's character says drugs are changing, and Ewan's character starts working and ended up becoming addicted to it. Not to mention the right time to quit an addiction, like Sick Boy losing his baby and then stopping heroin, etc.

You missed the whole point of the film being called 'Trainspotting'. In his bedroom which his parents locked him into to withdraw from heroin, there are pictures of trains on his wallpaper. When he is detoxing, because of lack of stimulation and time seeming like it stood still, there is nothing to look at except those 4 walls, so he is essentially trainspotting for the time he is in withdrawal.
