While youre in Denmark, you should visit Dragør. It's a very old fishing village with loads of history. My grandmother was born there, moved to the US about 50 years ago, then she moved back to Dragør around 20 years ago because she was homesick. I've visited many times and it's great. Edit- Dragør is about 8 miles from Copenhagen on the south eastern coast of Amager.

Too bad you didn’t meet the volva, Gudrun, while you were there. She is awesome and knows her stuff. I talked to her for a long time while I was there and learned so much from her. Ribe Viking Center is the best. Love going there. From your video you it looks like you missed out on a lot or just didn’t add it to your film.

The museum is mostly about trade. Ribe was a trading hub and that museum is all about trade. It was interesting to me as my Norse portrayal is as a merchant. I learned a lot in that museum. It is nowhere near as exciting as the Viking Center at all. But if you want to learn about trade during that time it is perfect. Hope you explored the city too while there. If not you missed out.

You can be sure that NONE of the animals on display here were killed in any type of ritual or as a sacrifice. The museum probably got them from a local slaughterhouse, or their remains were donated after being euthanized, for other reasons, according to Danish law. Denmark is strict about How animals are euthanized, and Who is qualified to perform such an act. All to prevent needless suffering of the animal.

Where exactly on the property is that sacred grove? Is it adjacent to the völva's hut? I can locate a níðstöng next to there. Or is there more than one níðstöng on the site? And given the level of authenticity there, would you say that it's being used for actual religious practice, or is it more theater dressing?

I was shown at a house north west of New Orleans LA, how to know where Dark Spirits are and the it's a visual indication of big perfect circles of cockroaches 🤢🤮 plus the told me there at the house was the church Priest to the church next door. But house had 2 mass murders also they use their spirits to do their bidding. Thereis a hole in kitchen living room. I slept in my Duramax Diesel 🤢. I wanted to Cleansed with over-saturated Saltwater to purify but it would take much salt water from the Gulf of Mexico....also supposed yellow eyed demon also there...🤷🏻‍♂️

My thoughts on sacrifices... If you want to be authentic and follow the religion blood sacrifices were a big part. I believe bif you build the hall you should have real time blood sacrifices as they did..thats big part of offerings to the Gods and Goddesses..

Looks like the danish left the church apart from the viking village😂 and they think more in the church in the museum. Interesting they want it to make the village more aunthentic with the pagan volva doing heavy pagan rituals.

Hey Jacob, would you mind dialing down the hate towards Ansgar a bit? He didn't force people to convert, and from what I know he wasn't even that successful. Sure,he opened some churches and all that, but lots of scandinavian people didn't stay Christians for long at that point afaik. Other than that, cool place, beautiful video, good work as always!

Well, I don't know where your disdain is directed, and how you usually talk and behave, as I don't know you at all. I was adressing Jacob because I used to always get a positive vibe from his videos and this cursing-Ansgar-thing just felt so hateful to me. Maybe I'm just being a bit sensitive.

I know this is a sore subject for many. However, If you really wanna feel the power of gods and spirits then venture into the animal sacrifice. Or sacrificing a body part. It gets instantaneous results whatever you need. Greater the sacrifice, the greater the reward.
@perfectlymyself

Humans are an even greater sacrifice.. Where do you draw the line.
@VoodooViking
@VoodooViking 2 жыл бұрын
@@perfectlymyself humans and animals are not the same. We eat animals, We don’t people. All animal sacrifices were used to feed the people. So it’s a public service. And human sacrifice was something that had a very short lifespan. And usually were the enemies one tribe would capture.
@perfectlymyself
@perfectlymyself 2 жыл бұрын
@@VoodooViking There are stories of people turning on their king, sacrificing them to Odin, due to famine or other types of bad luck. Failure to provide for your people was dangerous to your health in those days. They sacrificed humans, because that is what held the most value and was deemed likely to sway the gods in their favor. Human sacrifice continued until Christianity came knocking. That doesnt mean we should do such things today. If your god demands you give up a body part in order to help you, I would question their motives, or the identity of the deity you believe to be communicating with. Why would the gods want you to hurt yourself and weaken your body. Sounds like a bad trade. Sacrifice can take many forms. It doesnt have to include killing animals or chopping off a body part. Give up something you want. Restriction. Give up your addiction. Cutting off a limp only takes 2 seconds of determination. Restriction requires ongoing effort and self discipline. Explore your mind. Find and do battle with the darkness in there. Clean it out, or make peace with it. Odin might actually get interested! Or give your time and effort, in service to others, pleasing the corresponding gods. Animal sacrifice meant something back in the day, because they gave up, what little they had. They depended on their animals and crops for survival. That is not the reality of most Norse pagan or heathen people today. These days, giving up your comfort, excess, wasteful behavior, or sharing your blessings with those, who have less than you, carries more meaning. Helping restore nature.. Our ancestors and gods are in Everything> Soil, clouds, water, fire, the air we breathe.. Honor them by supporting the eco system.

@@perfectlymyself well there’s a lot of things we don’t do anymore and for very good reasons. And if one feels inclined to go a much more intense version(as long as it’s legal, and they have the means) who is another to tell them that they are wrong? Such as one who raises their own livestock or farms; giving a part of their bounty as a sacrifice. Thanking the animal before you eat the meat is in fact a form of acknowledgement of their sacrifice(even with store bought meat). So if you are slaughtering an animal, then why not offer it as a sacrifice and you can cook the parts you don’t want and offer it to whomever/whatever you want. Down here in New Orleans, we have Palo Mayombe among other forms of hoodoo and Santeria, not to mention shamans that still do animal sacrifice(with the intent of feeding the participants of the ceremonies). Not to mention on Native American reservations. So forgive the term but there’s more than one way to skin a cat.
