Idk if the update did it but the pistons that control the blocks, where the half block is, it's only connecting Redstone to piston on the spot that is a half block. The rest just end up in a horizontal line

For anyone that's having an issue where pressing the button closes the access but pressing again does nothing... Go back to the hoppers and destroy the one with the dust on top, and crouch snd replace it going into the first hopper, so that they pass the item back and forth. Replace the dust and it should work! Just fixed it in my world ♡

This is excellent. I just built it on my realm and it's exactly what I was looking for! I will say to anyone building, make sure your build you're hiding this in goes at least *three blocks further to the left* in order to be able to get your button on the left side, and *one block deeper* than this says if you have like, dirt as your top block or it won't be covered. I was able to modify my set up but just keep in mind you'll be running the line for the button!

For those who have the button problem 1: Make sure that a block (stone,dirt etc) is not in contact with the observer 2: The Redstone powering the normal pistons is powering the sticky piston from the right side just destroy the block in between the sticky piston and the Redstone

@@dustinbuker5362 I had the same issue. I noticed i put the button/blocks on the wrong level. To where when I brought the redstone down and over to where the lever is, I was a block in height difference. Once I re-did all that, it worked like its supposed to.

For those who try adding the button and the stairs won't go back up. Go back to the sticky piston with the observer and break the dirt or stone block that is touching it. (One that you didn't place)

Am i able to remove the last piston that makes it flush to the floor so its only a 1x3 area that retracts and not a 1x4 area? Also can i just use a t flip flop instead of your observer method for the button?

At 5:18 the two sticky piston at the top of "the square" and the regular piston thats two black to the right of them won't extend, I see that my redstone doesn't go into the pistons. Can someone help me fix this?

thanks man! this video was so simple to follow!!! this is an epic feature to my house leading to my secret mine and it barely takes up any space!!! A tip for those who cant get the staircase to open up again when the button is pressed for a second time: MAKE SURE THAT THE BUTTON UPSTAIRS IS CONNECTED TO THE PISTON! I accidentally placed mine a block off and was frustrated with it for a bit before figuring it out :)

I'm having trouble with the pistons making the floor into stairs. Last two sticky Pistons that hold the floor blocks won't keep the floor stuck to them. But when I flip the lever, the floor is perfect. Any ideas?

Is there a minecart version that goes through a floor like this? Any dimensions will do, but preferably with a 4 block height minimum. The only things I can make work are a two block height forcing me to place it in a corner, and a huge design that takes up x16 y6 z28 of space. My two height design messes with my floor plans, and the six height design requires it's own *whole* level of floor space.

The buttons...when I hit the button for the first time, the stairs close, I hit it again and they don't open. The item does go from the first hopper into the second but won't come back when I hit the button. The stairs do open if I manually take the item out of the second hopper. The second hopper has redstone dust on top of it. Do you know why the item won't go back into the first hopper when I hit the downstairs button a second time?

The sticky piston attached to the observer on the right isnt going back up again so remove all the blocks around the piston and it will fix it

I built this under the farm that my wife built. Right in the middle of her field and I hid the button in an irrigation hole so it looks like it's just a crop field, but it's really the entrance to my new secret base.

This was very good for my underground villager trading hall but for some reason the 2nd optional part wouldn't work. It would open but not close again, I tried it several times but there was no use overall a good tutorial though!

Dang. Got this built and everything works great until I go do the optimal part to where I can open and close from both up top and down below. All I can do is get that one additional sticky piston to move and flash the redstone but the stairs remain open
