15:41 except the Lynel on ploymus mountain, even with max stealth level, the Lynel can still detect you even when NOT sprinting, extremely sensitive to sound (even when you crouch and tilt the stick far enough). Other Lynels can only hear you if you are sprinting with this stealth. That lynel is programmed differently than all other lynels in other locations (even if them are red-maned), during gameplay, I noticed other differences: -Touching the lynel from the back does not immediately cause the lynel to know your presence, he has to face at you in order to know that. All other lynels however will immediately detect you -He does not roar while they roam their territory, other Lynels roar periodically as they wander their territory. -Without any disguise mask (wearing a Lynel mask or Majora's mask), this lynel, upon spotting you will immediately start attacking, all other Lynels will stare you down for 30 seconds before attack anyways. There is an obvious reason for this: so that the player MUST be stealthy if they don't want to fight the lynel and obtain the shock arrows, 30 seconds is way too lenient time for the player to get as many as they can.

Last night I did another several hours of research to calculate all enemy constants for the four main enemies. I was hoping that there would be a pattern between the constant and the color of the enemy, but of course not. Oh well... Here’s the formula again: Damage=4(hearts lost)+(defense-enemy constant) And here’s a table with all the enemy constants: Bokoblin Moblin Lizalfos Lynel Basic 0 2 4 15 Blue 4 10 8 20 Black 8 20 16 26 Silver 24 24 20 30 Golden 48 48 40 60 Here’s another example: Link goes up against a blue lizalfos wearing 9 defense. He gets hit and loses 4.5 hearts. Damage=4(4.5)+(9-8) Damage=18+1 Damage=19 Yay math! I hope this chart is helpful and if anyone needs it, you can take a picture of it and use it for yourself! Thanks for your time (again) Croton! ❤️ Keep up the great work!
@Croton4 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's some great research right there!! Understanding the base attacks of enemies is EXTREMELY helpful in order to prepare yourself for fights in this game!! I have a lot of the enemy stats recorded myself, and there are actually some other attacks they can do which alter the damage!! Lynel charge attacks, for an example, do WAY more damage then their base (can sometimes even exceed the damage they do with their weapons), and there's even seperate stats for things like their elemental attacks as well!! (When talking about the Lizalfoses!!)
@thiluk86444 жыл бұрын
I remember being surprised when I got hit by the first silver bokoblin I met. Look at this damage curve ! The power of bokoblins suddenly triples and become higher than lizalfos equivalent !
@wretchedbrat56184 жыл бұрын
The damage that I’m referring to is the damage output of the enemy’s weapon, not the damage that link necessarily receives. Also, if links defense is lower than the enemy constant, the enemy’s weapon will do more damage to link than it would if link were to use it on an enemy.

Congrats on the subs! I have seen a metric ton of zelda videos. There is one thing I have never seen you might have fun researching. The rag doll physics link endures. What is the trigger point for it, like how much damage/ what type will cause you to rag doll and when you do, under what conditions will you continue rolling down a hill. Like.. how steep, that sort of thing. No one's done that yet to my knowledge!

@bobrandomness10554 жыл бұрын
That would be really interesting, and if you are going to do that. Should probably also include the conditions for taking damage from the ragdolling and wether or not it can be rduced. Like, you get ragdolled down a hill or something, and take some damage but getting ragdolled down a different hill wouldn't cause you to take damage.

I’ve done my share of research for the game too. I decided to write mathematical formulas to determine the amount of damage and enemy’s’ weapon does without having to kill it (I only did it for the golden ones though). Each one of the four basic enemies (bokoblins, moblins, lizalfos, and lynels) has a constant value that subtracts from link’s defense. If link’s defense is higher than the constant, the enemy will deal less damage than the damage of its weapon and vice versa. Here’s the general formula for enemy weapon damage: 4(hearts lost with one hit)+(link’s defense-constant) Here’s a list of the golden enemy constants: Bokoblin/Moblin: 48 Lizalfos: 40 Lynel: 60 Here’s an scenario showing how to plug everything in: Link goes up against a lynel wearing armor with 48 defense. Link then gets hit once and loses 23.75 hearts. Now he can calculate the damage of the weapon without needing to kill the lynel first! Damage=4(23.75)+(48-60) Damage=95-12 Damage=83 Wow! That was a lot of words! I hope this makes sense to you and maybe you can do a video talking about the damage of other types of enemies! Thanks for reading this ❤️

Great video! Just wanted to share a couple of things you missed. Majora's Mask works like all the masks that Kilton sells in one. Bokonlins, Moblins, Lizalfos, and all their Stal equivalents won't attack you unless provoked. You'll also delay a Lynel attack by about 30 seconds. The Royal Guard's set give you more stamina while doing a charged attack, dashing while swimming, and jumping while climbing. The diamond circlet isn't the only one with the mini-ancient proficiency buff. The ruby circlet, sapphire circlet, and Midna's Helm all give the same boost. The amber and topaz earrings might also have the effect, but I can't remember off-hand.

Yeah this game’s equipment is so weird. Why would Nintendo add a secret buff to random items and never tell anyone about it? Apparently the charge attack stamina buff, at least from the royal guard set, also affects climbing jump stamina and swimming dash stamina, which was completely unknown to me. There just doesn’t seem to be a point to giving a player a buff without telling them that it exists
@kulitmed4 жыл бұрын
@@mcswashbuckler3833 The entire game is all about freedom of exploration and discovery. So you also have the freedom to discover some secrets within equipment on your own through trial and error.
@mcswashbuckler38334 жыл бұрын
kulitmed the game is about exploration and discovery, but the game tells the player when they have a buff, but only some of the buffs that are applied. At least in my opinion, it doesn’t encourage the player to experiment with the armor, but discourages them from looking deeper because there’s no real reason to think the game would deliberately withhold information. Giving the player freedom is fine, but picking and choosing which buffs the player sees and which they don’t see feels unnecessary and unintuitive. The game does really well to encourage logical thinking with its shrine and korok seed puzzles, but doubles back on itself when it comes to the inventory screen. I love secrets to find in games, but when they’re so obscure and can’t be found by any process other than extensive testing or data mining, it becomes a chore to discover them TL;DR Hiding secrets in games can be fun, but Breath of the Wild’s picking and choosing of which buffs to tell the player about makes finding the hidden buffs a chore and discourages the player from searching for more secrets

*Question about something that’s confusing me regarding the defense that armor gives you:* You said that the game calculates how much hearts you lose based on the enemy damage output and the armor you’re wearing, now what if i was wearing a set of armor (let’s say the barbarian set) that was maxed out to 20 armor points a piece, so if i was wearing the full barbarian set that would give me 60, and the silver bokobs damage output 24-60=-36....-36/4 is -9, meaning that if I should wear the maxed out barbarian set then technically no damage is supposed to be dealt to me, and that is impossible because obviously damage is done to me after i get hit, and that’s what’s confusing me; how does the game calculate this? Also your video was very helpful thank you as always for the amazing content ☺️
@Croton4 жыл бұрын
Aww, thank you so much!! The simple answer to your question, is that there is a minimum damage cap of one to any physical attack done to the player!! So even if your armor level is greater then the damage output, you'll still take a quarter heart!!
@wesnohathas19934 жыл бұрын
I think there's also a mechanic that reduces damage from an attack to spare the player with a quarter heart in certain situations because it was surprisingly rare to get one-shot in a three-heart run.

Really nice episode, before this i thought that the strength buff was better than the ancient proficiency buff and bone attack up buff, but this episode made me realise that that wasn't the case. Also the defence buffs really did make me realise that its better to use gear with guardian resistance buffs against ancient foes than normal gear.

skins4thewin hey you turkey basting dipstick! The game doesn’t say if buffs stack 🤣
@skins4thewin4 жыл бұрын
@@Omnicharlizard Lol actually, it does. The buffs that are active are exactly as the game shows them, meaning they don't stack. There is a reason the game still only shows an x3 Attack buff when you try to stack them. My point is to just go by what the menu shows and you'll know what you can and can't do. That's just how this game happens to work aka no stacking.

Pichu! (This is amazing, I never questioned the buffs percentages, just the base interactions, such as walking the stealth armor being better than crouch walking at top speed, I think it's great you made this, another thing I remember is that wearing no armor makes you swim faster than wearing armor aside from the Zora armor for obvious reasons)
@Croton4 жыл бұрын
Well thank you, I'm glad you found it useful then!! And yes, naked swimming technically is faster then doing it with armor, but I believe there is a bug where it doesn't stack with any of the speed buffs, making it technically slower then the zora armor even with a lvl 3 buff. Then again, they could have patched this, as it was a while ago when I tested it
