This is the game that singlehandedly got me into Dragon Ball as a whole. The commercials for it for whatever reason made me so hype despite not knowing a thing about it. Didn't have a PS2 at home but my Dad had one, so the next weekend when I got there we rented it and the rest is history. He still yells "Kaminee Kaminee Ka" lol and when he caught me playing Xenoverse a few years back he was just like "you still like that one hey?"

Excellent video! Budokai 2 is heavily underrated and honestly the most fun I had with the series, so I love seeing it get more in-depth content like this on YT! I was able to put out an updated version a while back, so the untranslated Tiencha switching sides bit is thankfully in English now!

Funny enough, this game was my first exposure to the full story of Dragon Ball Z. I had seen snipets of it before with an occasional episode I could catch, or a friend having left a volume of the manga I could quickly check, but I never really got hooked until then. Needless to say, I needed to unlearn everything once I actually got into the series proper. Gameplay-wise, though, it was the very first fighting game I really got into. Also, I had the Gamecube version and its box was super shiny in comparison to every other game I had for some reason. Now I can properly appreciate how funny the inclusion of Tiencha is. As well as having an hidden scenario centered around him where he still sucks compared to Goku. 😂

I wish I could play this tenth stage, it looks so interesting and cool, one of my fave characters is Yamcha so anything that gives him spotlight is something I love They should do a 2nd budokai hd collection that has B2 and IW and add the V2 content (like the exclusive skins and this stage) for B2

I hope you're gonna cover the DS games. Pretty underrated. Attack or the Saiyans was a hidden gem of and RPG and the two OG DragonBall games are cool and cover up to the end of the RR arc. There was a follow up on the Wii that covered King Piccolo saga

Connor, Dragon Ball Z Attack of the Saiyans was my favorite Dragon Ball Z game on the Nintendo DS. I believe Monolith Soft actually developed the game.

I believe for the longest time, Atari are the main force behind Dragon Ball game releases and prioritize Western releases before Japan releases from Bandai. It was until Atari lose that right and Bandai merging with Namco that Dragon Ball game releases are more globally.

Yup! Bought the game in Japanese when it came out just because I cannot stand the US voices that were imposed on us here in Europe, and I was gladly surprised to see Neko Majin as an exclusive bonus. Similarly, in the JP edition of Budokai 3, you have secret passwords that will unlock new skins for future Trunks, Piccolo, and Freeza. These skins are Trunks with long hair, Demon King Piccolo, and Kuriza (Freeza's son in Neko Majin).

I'm pretty sure Budokai 2 did indeed come to the west first because of the series rise in the west. Atari did commission animation for the opening animation for Sagas after all. They threw their money around.

As a kid Budokai 2 was the one that I owned. So I've spent more time with this one than any of the others. As a result, I got mad love for this game, faults and all. I would play the others with my friends and later in life. But Budokai 2 will always be my Budokai of choice.

so you're not technically correct that Neko Majin Z wasn't know in the west at the time. Here in Germany, our version of Shounen Jump Magazin, Banzai, featured all the chapters before Budokai 2 released. However no VJump version or content was released here, so we missed out too.
