The forearm being flush to the chest is such a HUGE mechanical adjustment on cross chokes from guard and mount.

1:30 - pin your elbow tot heir chest 2:50 - when he puts his forearm on your stomach, raise your hips and then push the arm over to your mid-line while dropping your hips. Then open your guard and place your leg over the shoulder of the arm you just repositioned. Close the guard. This is the high guard. SQUEEZE YOUR KNEES and CLAMP YOUR FEET DOWN. Arm bar - push his head down to bring your leg over. If he spider webs his arms, grab the elbow and wrist of the other arm. Push it up and bring it over for the omoplata position.

I really enjoy that first choke. Really easy to setup and often opens other subs if it doesn't work. Good stuff !

Yeah that deep initial grip make a huge difference in how fast you can attack with that second grip.

Of all the videos this white belt watches (thousands!) yours are the most practical and effective. I immediately put them to good use. Thank you for making me better!! I hope to roll with you one day.

Nice details. Closed guard is a very solid position to have someone in especially in gi.

So simple and so effective, need to focus on this more .Great stuff

great detail. i struggle to find good moves from closed guard. i tend to just open it up and go into cross collar grip and knee shield which can hold most people off but really struggle to do anything from them with stronger guys. The leg lock above their head seems like a great opening without risking your guard being broken easily.

Great video as always, any chance you have a video about grip fighting off the back in the near future? I know you're a big proponent of that being an essential skill.

Check out my video on breaking posture in closed guard, it’s really critical to choose the right attack for the situation to be offensive in the position.

HAHAHAHA Someone gave this a thumbs down. The fundamentals of BJJ. Cross collar, probably the most powerful grip there is an all of gi fighting... and some fkn nonce doesn't like it. HAHAHAHA Madness.. there is always a prick eh.
