Check out my FREE 4-Part Confidence Workshop! - bit.ly/3fZcbO5
What up homie! I have another exciting episode for you today with powerhouse international speaker, CEO of Motivating the Masses and a very good friend of mine, Lisa Nichols! Get ready for a super engaging conversation about finding the perfect relationship (yes, that still exists), breaking up with everyone else’s expectations, and boundaries that support self-love and creates the safe space you’ve been looking for!
Lisa can’t help but drop gem after gem when she speaks. So you better believe it when I tell you, this episode is packed with the kind of experiences and wisdom every woman needs to hear.
How to not cave to societal pressures regarding your timeline for marriage.
- Why you are more than enough just as you are, with or without a relationship.
- Your purpose and contribution to the world have nothing to do with being married or not.
- Lisa’s power sentences that relieve the pressure in any situation.
- Lisa’s 3 Agreements to establish your safe space
You are invited to experience life's roller coaster ride with Lisa Nichols and myself right here on Women of Impact, where we indulge in the real, uncensored conversations about life, self-discovery, and more. Grab your tissues, it’s okay today! We’re learning what real empowerment and grown a$$ woman business is about that you can feel deep in your soul..
“I began to trust the woman that I am more than the woman I was trying to become.” - Lisa Nichols
Annnnd… while you’re here I have an extra bonus for you! I’ve added this fire a$$ episode with my homie, Mel Robbins! If you know Mel, you know she’s a give-it-to-you-straight with NO chaser kind of woman. Our conversation went from knowing how to identify when you’re being disrespected to knowing when it’s YOU that’s being disrespectful with your partner.
Both Mel and Lisa are major inspirations for women like us! I do these episodes so that women like you know that having strong boundaries, more confidence, commanding respect, and aiming for an above average life is more than possible with all of your messy imperfections.
Join Lisa Nichols’ 5 Day Legendary Speaker Challenge: motivatingthemasses.com/womeno...
“Being Unapologetic means that I will be All of Me. I will no longer shrink or compromise myself by playing small so others will not feel insecure in my presence.” - Lisa Nichols
LISA NICHOLS’ POWER QUOTES:
“Marriage is a chapter, it’s not the book.”
“If it felt right I leaned in. If it didn’t feel right, I didn’t lean in. I didn’t try to put perfume over poo poo.”
“I’ve had enough evidence of broken Lisa, scared Lisa, floored Lisa, ‘damn I can’t believe I did that’ Lisa, [...] I had enough evidence that in her brokenness she still had the will to get back up one more time.”
“Don’t let me get in the way of our greatness. Don’t let me get in the way of what I said I wanted.”
“I’ve learned how to dance with my chaos.”
“I’m a river, I’m not a lake. I’m always flowing and always growing.”
“If someone keeps crossing your line in the sand, it is not because they are rude, it’s because your line is not deep enough in the sand. It’s because you’ve negotiated the line so many times that now the line is blurry, now the wind has blown the line, and no one can see the line. And you feel as if you’re suffering in silence because no one is honoring your line, it’s because you didn’t honor your line sis!”
“Unconditional love is messy, unconditional love has thorns in it. Unconditional love actually says will you agree to love me through my ugly? Will you agree to love me through my righteousness? [...] Will you agree to love me when I’m actually unloveable?”
“I gave myself permission to not hold my future hostage to my past.”
“Can you give yourself permission to trust again as if you’ve never been hurt while using the discernment and the judgment that you developed from all of your past hurt.”
“I wasn’t running toward who I was becoming, I was out running who I had been.”
“I had to just first accept who I was, and not be a victim to who I was.”
“I wasn’t staying single because I chose to be single, I was staying single because I was afraid of being hurt again.”

I've just celebrated my 37th birthday and was single for 7 years and met a guy a few months ago. Dated him for 6 months and felt he was toxic to my life, broke up with him, and my family was alarmed at my decision to remain single again. Just because my biological clock is clicking, it ain't gonna change my decision. I want to settle when the right person comes along. All I can do now is pray and trust on the Lord and work on myself.

Getting married thinking you’ll have Financial security is dangerous. You have to take care of you. If you marry someone that looks stable but is a man child you will be taking care of him as well. I was married and he controlled every single penny and was not financially savvy or working steady. I felt it gave him a sense of running the household at first but then I couldn’t even get a $3 shirt at charity shop. Never ever get married for financial security. It was his idea to get married because then it’s 2 incomes. I was marrying him because I loved him. It was a mess. I’ve been single for 3 yrs now. I take care of myself - no Alimony, nothing from him and I’m good with that. Happier than I’ve been for years and a young 54. Marry for true love or nothing.

No matter how loyal we are in a relationship it’s not enough. Some men take us for granted. I never have a confrontations with anyone. I was married for 6 years and my husband was still with his ex and I didn’t know. My family knew and never told me but I found out and nobody knew . I decided to move out and all I wanted was two rooms 2 mattresses and I found it and took what I needed a little at a time no furniture! Then I didn’t go home and he called me phone for 2 weeks before I answered and told him why I left. My sister and I never spoke for years. Some of us are better off being single while others will take that risk to find happiness. But wherever life takes us I wish everyone the best of luck 🙏🏽

I agree with you my friend. After living in an un healthy environment w my parents w no boundaries I was led to believe I had to treat my husband like a king. Not worried about myself because I didn't matter as a child growing up it ran into my relationships. I have been single for 12 yrs now still working on me. Loves myself enough to remove myself from both Men. Now I don't ignore my intuition. That is the holy spirit speaking to you stop your not in the place I need you to be. All my friends are married now . I found out some were not good for me this has been a awesome journey. It wasn't at first each time I left for peace of mind. I was so torn up doubting myself ECT. This mental n emotional abuse is very hard to take n can effect your health. Stress kills. May God bless you who take the time to read this.

She nailed it: Most of us get into a relationship for the optics. Successful women have more challenges dating. As a self made millionaire woman, this has been so inspiring to listen to. When she said man said "They didnt want to be the Stedman to my Oprah" I know the exact feeling. Perfect example that we have to keep our vision strong, learn form our history and go off our intuition.

@kgs2280
@kgs2280 9 ай бұрын
@@DiamondsRexpensiveAmen! This is so spot on! The way our society is set up (primarily by men), poor/single women practically “have to” get married just to get by financially in life. That was the case with me. All I wanted was to have my own house (ha! What a fantasy that was!), or just my own nice apartment and not have to put up with roommates or even with a husband if I didn’t want to get married. One time, I got that, for a short time (months, not years) a tiny little studio apartment and it was almost heaven to me even though it wasn’t much at all. But, I had to work two jobs just to pay the rent and the bills and also be able to eat! Men (and the “traditional” women who support the Patriarchy) have set things up that way, pay women less and make life harder for them if they don’t want to “settle down” (how appropriate that phrase is. I don’t want to settle for just anything, and I don’t want my SELF, my power or independence to go down!), all the while telling young (or even older) women to find a man to “take care” of them (and who ends up doing the most “taking care” of whom in a marriage?!) But it was so hard and so exhausting trying to get by that when some “great guy” came along and said all the right words and did all the right things, I gave in because I felt like life was just too hard for a single woman, and, after all, he was a “great guy”, and life would be easier if I just went ahead and got married, so I did. Well, many of you already know how that worked out, because it’s exactly how it works out for far, far too many of us). I always say that once a man does the “hard work” of being wonderful and sweeping you off your feet then he gets the license and says “I do”, after a couple of years (or sooner) he reverts back into the man he really is, and it isn’t so great after all. I was so determined to make it work that I stayed for ten years, which was at least five years too long (more like seven or eight to tell the truth). I think men must set society up this way because they’re so afraid that if they didn’t, we really wouldn’t want them at all, and it’s much easier (for them) to entrap us than to do the work of making themselves into actual great men, or even just really good. Just my theory, but it’s the story of my life, and I know it’s the story of many, many, far too many, other women as well.

Seriously! I am open to love, but not at the cost of my sanity, peace or safety. 90% of the married couples I personally know ( family or friends) are so frikkin miserable that it turns me off from feeling pressured to "just give in". The society label and the illusion of "not being alone" are what most people want, versus actual happiness and sincere content behind the doors where no one can see. Irony, most of my friends in relationships are the loneliest people I know... 😢 Again, I'm not against relationships, I'm just not about the pressure to conform at the cost of misery and passing it down to another generation. Tfs this important topic with such grace and grit! 💛🌹 .

I’m 35 days and counting out of a relationship with a narcissist he begs several times daily to be back in my life. I got so fed up with him I decided I’m done. he even offered me money to be back with me, knowing that I really need it. I turned it down. Hell you can’t put a price on a piece of mind. I may have lost a little financially, but I know that God can give me more than any man can God made this planet so resourceful with several avenues where you can get blessed I have been through a lot and has suffered long enough. I am ready for the riches that god promised and the first blessing was freedom a piece of mind… I sleep so well at night. I rather take the energy I was giving him and put it into myself, my kids and starting my business though I have a lot of self work to do I really feel great!

I'm a year out from my narcissist and I never look back. It gets easier with time - believe me! I found Dr. Ramani's videos extremely helpful and healing. Take this time to heal and get back on your feet. Your life is yours now, not his. Keep running away from him and towards a healthier, happier you. I can't even begin to tell you how much I have grown and changed since leaving him. I wish the same for you!

Desperation leads to bad decisions. I was once you, and I will tell you to focus on living. Only get married if he is a great man and will be a great provider, protector, highly engaged with his kids, won't see you just as his personal maid, and who is loving and kind to you. There is a lot that goes into selecting a great husband. You want to get it right, so that your kids don't cry and become emotionally harmed because the family has to break up. Focus on Living. Travel, find deep and meaningful friendships, buy a pet to love, reinvent yourself, explore your wildest dreams. Life isn't just about being married or having kids. A lot of times, those things can suffocate you. You must have proper support and truly be in a good situation to truly enjoy motherhood. Don't listen to single women with kids who try and paint a happy picture. It's a trap! Live your life to the fullest, and you won't have any regrets. Advice I wish someone gave me. Live life!

I agree with everything she's saying. You have to find yourself first, embrace yourself, heal yourself, give yourself the love, the comfort, everything you deserve mentally, spiritually, physically, materially ...and then a DESERVING partner will be the "icing on the cake". No desperation here. We are older, single, and thriving queens. If it takes 10 years for that deserving person to find me, so be it...but I am NEVER settling again. NEVER. I will continue to raise my beautiful daughter as a single, beautiful, accomplished, healed mom.

A Message from the Heart - Could You be the Love of My Life? Hey ❤, I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. Although we have never had the pleasure of meeting, destiny has a funny way of connecting souls from afar. From the little I know about you, something within me feels an unparalleled connection, and I can't help but envision you as the love of my life. In this chaotic world, filled with brief encounters and fleeting connections, I believe that true love is a rarity to be cherished. While we have yet to cross paths, your captivating presence, as it radiates through your words and photographs, has ignited a flame within my heart. There is an unspoken connection that seems to transcend time and distance, and I cannot help but wonder if it is a sign from the universe. Your essence, as beautiful as a summer's day, has enchanted my thoughts. Your intellect, wit, and grace, which shimmer through the conversations we have shared, have captivated my attention like no other. It is as if I have found a missing piece of my soul in you, and my heart yearns to explore the depths of what this connection could mean. Though it may sound unconventional, I believe that love knows no boundaries - not even geographical ones. I am willing to take a leap of faith, to step out of the confines of the ordinary, and to embark on a journey with you. A journey filled with profound love, shared adventures, and unwavering support for one another's dreams. Before I proceed any further, I want to assure you that my intentions are pure and genuine. I am not merely looking for a passing fling or a temporary romance. Instead, I yearn for a love that withstands the test of time, a love built on trust, mutual respect, and unwavering commitment. Life is too short to let opportunities slip through our fingers. I am willing to embrace vulnerability and to open my heart to the possibility of us becoming something extraordinary together. It may seem bold, but isn't love all about taking risks and fighting for what sets our souls on fire? I understand if this message catches you off guard, as it resides in the realm of the unknown. Take your time, dear one, to process and consider this proposition. If your heart resonates with the same longing that now consumes mine, I would be honored to embark on this journey of love with you. May we have the chance to meet, to laugh, to create memories, and to embrace a love that surpasses our wildest dreams. Know that my heart is eagerly awaiting your response, hoping that you may feel the same as I do. With all my love and anticipation, Stanley Chukwuma.

This interview is astounding… EVERY YOUNG WOMAN NEED TO HERE THIS.. I see so many young ladies groom a relationship where there are stuck. There is clearly a codependency impart from their partner and gaslighting to make them think he is needed in their life. AND THEN put on an emotional roller coaster JUST to keep the woman unsure about themselves… DO NOT Let anyone throw dirt and baggage on your OPTICS… It is a must to understand the addiction to cortisone and how constant arguing and toxic relationships can create a dependency you never had and MORE IMPORTANTLY…. To RECOGNIZE when it is not your own… This disrupts one’s’ intuition… and creates fragmentation…. And realize when one is trying to place themselves into your aspirations and making you feel as though they are needed to make it happen… STAY ON YOUR COURSE - don’t pivot to theirs. EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE is a must….

Rest of us still are leaning souls, we need to clear our karmas in order to get there. I stoped entangled with people just to clean my own shadows. How does one end up "back here" in this life again? Does one choose the time period/century, or is that more a matter of chance? Could one end up going backwards in time? The final straw was when I realized I was my own worst enemy and I was slowly imploding inside. Yet the early years was all about denial. The unconscious strategy slowly became more evident. Rising up to the surface of my consciousness as if it were a beachball held under water the ball rushes up to the surface. Truth and reality of my situation and my part I played in this charade was smashed. The anger I felt about my decision to marry him grew stronger to where I could no longer deny my truth. This was my fault for allowing the chaos in my head. The chaos inside my brain felt as if were a civil war. The suppressed anger turned to depression and anxiety. I was simply an actor whose stage was about to collapse underneath the weight built on lies. I was now drinking wine to silence my voice. Self-medicating to relieve my pain I slowly lost me. My ex was drinking too. We became drinking buddies. He handed me wine with little hesitation. I knew at 46 I clearly recognized I couldn’t put the drink down like I used too so easily. This escape was now a full blown alcoholic nightmare. Yet somehow I got up the courage and called Hazelden up in Center City, Minnesota one Saturday morning. I was ready to turn my Titanic around and face my part. Deal with my part and put the cork back in the bottle. Fast forward 10 years and I am here today by the grace of God. To thine own self be true. Freedom from the bondage of self. Note: My ex still continues to drink. Yet with two successful children we are friends today. I urge those that need help do so. Asking for help is a sign of strength, courage, and accountability. I am a winner once the truth set me free. Each day is filled with a journey of life on life’s terms. No longer am I struggling with the obsession to drink myself to oblivion. I thank God for another day. Be true to yourself, never deny your intuition, listen carefully, pray, and know you are worthy of a life you’ve never dreamed possible.

This lady is SO right. If I knew back then what I know now I’d never have got married (and saved myself the heartache of two divorces). But from my experience, it’s more to do with the screwed-up men that we have around us: they become fathers way too young then begrudge the kids for robbing them of their freedom and the things THEY want to do but can’t; then there’s the 80-90% who have Mommy issues! Best to stay single and date for companionship. Yes, you may face old age alone but even if you’re married your husband could predecease you so get prepared now, not when it’s too late. Wish it were different but it isn’t.

Soo much loneliness in a marriage too, with an unavailable man..yes present, but empty, with baggage and mommy Issues. I live in a retirement village. Many hapoy and merry widows. And some grumpy old men, stewing in their past.

“Every time I face-planted, I got up!” Single mom for 40 years. I’m 67 and at 60, people, including doctors and colleagues and children were consistently facing me with the age paradigm and what ‘they’ thought that should look like. My kids esp saw me “fall down 6 times, get up seven,” so that aging ideal from them came as a shock. “Men will perish for lack of vision.” Trust. Thank you 🙏🏼. Gods timing is perfect. Soooo Important to recognize fear based thinking.

I know of a co-worker who is in her 40s, single and having a kid on her own. It's been eye-opening for me seeing her example, as most examples I see are of married or divorced women with kids. I'm not saying either situation is better than the other but I've been sold this idea by society that I need to hurry up and find someone because once you hit 30, you're seen as "less attractive", "less fertile" and "old", as if all your value as a woman is wrapped up in your youth, beauty and fertility. I'm a woman in her early 30s and as much as I try to not listen to others' opinions, I still feel the pressure and anxiety that society creates for women. I realized after speaking with her about my indecision to have kids and my worries about my biological clock, that my fear has been fuelled by society and that's really sad.

A Message from the Heart - Could You be the Love of My Life? Hey Kristina, I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits.

Thank you for this wonderful conversation. I am so sick of people trying to put me in their little box! I make my own decisions ( Good or Bad) and I have few regrets. My Mother told me as a little child, " You dance to your own music". For years, I didn't understand what she meant. But I finally did. When my mother was sick in a Nursing home. I lived out of town. I went to the Nursing home to visit her. I thought she couldn't hear me so I asked her, "Mama, why you didn't love me like you did the rest? She opened her eyes and said, " You were my strong one! The one I always depended on. I needed you! And always love you. Since the day in that Nursing home. I still make my own decisions. Sometimes, they are the wrong decisions but their my decisions. Like Mrs Nichols, "I still got one more," Get Up in me. Thank you all so much.

I was in your position and was left by my high school sweetheart and kid’s father due to him committing a crime and being sentenced to 36 years in prison. I made marriage a priority and was married at 26 years old. Here today over a decade later I look back at my beautiful, outgoing, intelligent 26 year young self and I say damn I should’ve believed and known that I could’ve created my own security. Now after over a decade of marriage I realize that I was more than capable of creating an incredible secure life. I have given way more to my marriage and have incurred unnecessary pain. Marriage can drain your essence because of the degree of compromise put on the backs of women. Trust in your capabilities and understand that by marrying 30-60% of your value and essence can be compromised. The title isn’t worth the compromise.

After reading "When the Body says No," I am even more adamant to not rush to marry someone, have kids, due to expectations and timelines. Generational trauma/curses, (coping mechanisms and health issues) are perpetuated because people rush into things without self awareness of how much of their personality/behaviours are govern by coping mechanisms.

I married at 50 and for me, that was the right time. I never felt pressured to do it earlier. I was clear that for ME, being married and being a parent were not interlocked. I knew I wanted to be a mother - to do a better job than mine had. Told my family if I wasn't married by 35, I was going to have a child on my own. Learning I was pregnant at 34 was a surprise, not an accident. I knew I wanted her, but didn't want him for a husband - we've remained good friends. She is now 28 and her bonus dad has been a wonderful addition in her life too. Yes, I waited and I'm so happy I did. I'm fully committed to stay in my marriage for always (ps - his mom and mine were childhood best friends, pregnant at the same time, and he and I knew each other till I was about 8 and then I never saw him, but occasionally heard about his family). We were destined to be! WAIT.... Listen to what Lisa is telling you!
