Hi, I think you do a great job so please don’t take this as negative criticism. I really think expensive benches, weights and machines do not correlate to fitness. Of course, if your audience is wealthy and elite athletes, they can afford and require the best equipment. However, it is less likely that your audience is rich and elite athletes. If so, you should do more videos of lower priced equipment. I ordered benches and weights from low cost, much lower than the equipment you focus on, I have not had problems doing bench presses, dead lifts or virtually any of the exercises. I really believe that among lay people, the cost of equipment have little to do with their fitness levels.

I normally check Coop's reviews before making a purchase, but this time it went the other way. I've had this bench for 2 years (and upgraded during Black November this year). Absolute *home run* review, and I feel even more confident relying on GGR for doing the research for me. To reiterate some of what was said in the video... The extra 2 inches of height doesn't sound like much, but my 5'10" self found it very not ideal. I keep considering using the foam foot rest even for flat bench, but it's not quite necessary. If you're legs are shorter than mine you're probably going to need to use it. Once you get to pressing 275 it feels very iffy. The height and light weight are both factors here. It can feel wobbly. I wouldn't want to go beyond 275 with this bench, but then again I never experienced it failing; it just "feels like it might". (It probably wouldn't fail at any weight I could lift, but the feeling is unsettling.) The gap is noticeable, I very often benched with my ass in the gap. The decline is extreme, but the other setting feels not declined enough. I'd chosen this bench among the cheap ones *because* it could also do decline, but I haven't used it for decline since the first month I had it. I didn't fold the bench a single time until I got the new one. (I got a Rogue 3.0 bench, and holy shit what an upgrade, but the price reflects that.) Big plus for this bench, because of the pop pin design, you can lift it by grabbing the nose and tail of the pad. I've tried the same move with my Rogue 3.0 a couple of times and of course instead of lifting the bench I end up just changing the settings. I'll probably make the same mistake a few more times. Another plus for the bench is how easy it is to move. We're all benching in our squat racks, so sometimes the alignment isn't quite right. With my Rogue 3.0 I have to get up and lift it enough to engage the wheels (see the can't lift by the pad note above) and then position it such that when I place it flat again it *will* be in the right spot. With this guy I just stand up barely enough to take my weight off of it and then a couple taps or tugs in the right direction you're good to go. The gateway drug analogy was spot on. I'm giving it to a friend of mine to get her hooked too.

This bench is really great for people who live in a apartment and don't have much space. You can keep it in your closet without permanently occupying your already limited space like an unfoldable adjustable bench would. As far as I'm concerned there is no other adjustable bench that can fold like this for this demographic of people and I think that's why it sells so well.
@morrisolmsted13165 ай бұрын
I just bought this a month ago and its pretty good for the money. I have little space and don't bench over 250 lbs, at least at this time. I know its cheap and may not last long, but currently, I didn't have an answer for incline or decline, so this helped me out.

Glad to hear they have improved this bench. I have the previous version and it's...fine. the plywood inside the seat broke and I had to add more support to it to fix it, hopefully they improved that. But it's cheap, folds up if you live in an apartment and need to move it (like I did), and it gets the job done.
@craigw74712 жыл бұрын
I have had the bench for 5 years now. The vinyl is still perfectly fine. I never noticed the foam being an issue. Its kept in a basement and used 4 times a week until I got a Rep bench last year. Its good enough that lack of stability of the Rep bench was a major disappointment as its about the same as the Flybird. I totally agree that if you can rep out at 275+ with a lot of movement, this is not a good choice. The actual "break point" is the edge of the seat. The wood of the seat way overhangs the metal tubing and mine split when doing box jumps onto the bench. The wood broke, the metal is perfectly fine.

I bought a similar one about 3 years ago. I wanted one that was foldable with an incline seat that was not as high as my Ironmaster. I bought it from Walmart, got it quick! Kudos to Walmart. I opened the box, the aesthetics was nice and compact with little to assemble. It was about two inches shorter than my IM which was great as I'm only about 5'5, but that's about all the positives. The Negatives: It came on chest day and I was excited to see the box when I came home from work ready to go hard. So after doing the minimal assembly, I think I started off with dumbbell presses. I was doing about 90lbs each so about 180lbs. It held for a few, but then the 3rd set or forth I heard something like metal cracking and the long part of the bench came down about an inch while I was pressing. Luckily, i had have great control. I'm not sure why I continued, but then went on to incline. I'm not sure how it held up, but it did. I did hear the metal squeaking througout The incline of the seat was ok, but not as good as the IM where there is no way I'm sliding off of it regardless of the weight. So, I'm finishing my workout and I usually do leg raises with about 10 or 20 lbs ankle weights facing the opposite direction when pressing. I did a few and the arm snapped from where it secures to the bench. It wasn't my day in more ways than one. I returned it to Walmart kudos to them for the returns. I was hesitant from buying as I was skeptical about the it secure, but i went on impulse and the add saying it would hold up 600lbs. Lol The bench is not good unless ur pressing like 50lbs total or each dumbbell. Then again, it could be that the one I got that was faulty. I had a cap bench for over 10 years, solid! The only reason why I sold it was cause the seat didn't incline and I kept sliding down when I went over 75lbs on the dumbbells. I have a foto and video that I may post up soon.
@KenanTurkiye2 жыл бұрын
8:33 I have a feeling that if the 'leg stoppers' where we insert our legs to keep us from sliding, were a bit higher angled compared to the bench angle on all benches (not just this model) the decline posture dynamics on our knees, femurs etc would be more comfortable, I hope manufacturers hear this.

Firstly I'm sad that it wasn't tried up to its listed weight capacity. Generally speaking you try it until your break it which is awesome. Second I wonder if this is like the Ironmaster bench when it comes to capacity in that you have to switch it around and flat bench over the post in order to get that max weight capacity.
@amunra42562 жыл бұрын

@HoerigStrength2 жыл бұрын
That weight capacity test is pointless. You need to test the dynamic load. Load a barbell with whatever test weight and drop it from 18-24” above the bench. That would mimic failure, not simply how many plates you can stack. Even a 225 or 315 drop would’ve been interesting to see.

I was just starting to shop for an adjustable. For me, my neightbor is just getting into working out and wants to do incline/decline. I have a flat bench that is "ok" but I do more function/Oly training and almost NEVER use a bench. For a once or twice a month use at a moderate weight I think this one will be perfect for my use case! I Did spend a unresonable amount of money on my rack, bars and accessories (damn you Rogue!) but this is just a fun to have extra and at 150 AND I can fold it and stack it on my shelf for the majority of the time... perfect. I wanted to call out the weight test, that is my main concerns with stuff off Amazon, great job there I def feel better having seen you sit on the weights. Great review.

Lifting up and shaking on the back pad is not a good stability test. Ladder benches don't lock down either and they are kind of the standard for reviewers. I have this bench and it does fine for doing dumbbell rows, incline dumbbell presses and decline ab work. I can pick it up and set it on my Treadmill to create floor space for lunges, etc. Flat benching heavy on it is not comfortable for me. The pad just is not good for that kind of weight. I would not recommend using it as a plyo box as another poster suggested, but as a gateway FID it is ok. I picked up a Titan Competition Flat Bench on Black Friday for about a hundo and need to assemble it tonight.

unfortunately having a home gym isn't really saving money unless you count like time is money in time it takes to travel back and forth or like wear and tear on your vehicle, which is fine because great reasons but realistically like a set of nuobells is $800 which is 3-4 years of membership costs then when you add in bench, rack, barbells, plates etc. you could easily spend the equivalent of 10-15 years of membership costs. so i think of it more as a dedication thing, you really hafta love it and want to spend most of your life invested in it. i know alot of people who just want abs for the summer or wanna be big in college or something, for them they don't look at it as oh i'm 15 16 wtv and i wanna still workout in my 40s.
