Ping glide 3.0 will spin more! I've been waiting for this all morning with coffee in hand for this review. Thanks for the content! Cheers James!
@davidreekers65265 жыл бұрын
I think if you would do a wet ball/club test with these you would see a huge difference between these and the other leading wedges out there. The Hydro Pearl finish maintains most of the spin in wet conditions where other wedges seem to lose about 40% of their spin. That equals a lot more consistency in wet and dry conditions. I am not a huge Ping fan but if I continue to see the same results from other testers and reviewers I will be giving these a closer look next spring as I am in the market for new wedges.

One thing to mention James is the effects spin has on launch and peak height. While the spin number may not be significant the other two definitely are, especially in windy conditions.
@stephendibari50104 жыл бұрын
From what I’ve seen on TXG & MyGolfSpy’s testing These Glide 3.0’s have the best WET spin #’s. They barely lose 1k spin compared to all others that lose nearly half their dry spin #’s

I play a mint-condition full set of 1980's BeCu Eye2's (1iron to Lob wedge) so this new Eye2 wedge really gets my attention. Thanks for the Glide3.0 review. Been clicking on the Ping website every day to see when it has launched. I'm going to order the 56/Eye2 and 60/Eye2. I will probably phase out the rest of my BeCu Eye2's with some i210's or something next year but i still enjoy playing with them.

Listening to you talk about the Ping wedges being 15 grams lighter as with several companies building lighter wedges. For some reason I like my wedges heavy. Mainly to feel the club on touch shots of around the green. I have added 40 grams to my Callaway sure out 2 60* wedge. I am even thinking about custom ordering one with their heavyest shaft.

Vokey's...from my cold dead hands. Wouldn't matter to me if these spin more as I get great spin numbers already. Something about the set up and feel of the Vokey's that just inspire confidence. Play the 54 and 58 in the M Grind and just throw darts with them.

I have Ping everything, driver, fairway, hybrid, irons... but play Vokey wedges. I just like the weight and feel of them.

I think the original high toe was the Eye 2. Phil used his for a long long time and convinced Callaway to make a copy, the PM grind (with slight differences). TM followed. I think PING decided, “Hey. This is our thing! We can do this.”

I use the ping wedges in the 2.0 stealth finish and I love them. I have the 54 & 58 in the wide sole, 14 deg bounce because I have a steep angle of attack and play soft courses but find I can open the face up with little problem! I would certainly get these are replacements, with my i210 irons!
@mg708985 жыл бұрын
Forgot to mention ping allows you to have the same shaft in your wedges as your irons. Distance gapping becomes much more consistent as does feel.

I just picked up a ping wedge and have hit some with it and fell in love with it. I got it used in really great shape and In a blue dot and love when i strike it pure. To me I have more control with this wedge then I did in my older wedges I have used. I am no pro but heck it matches nicely with my ping g400 irons

Have been a total vokey wedge fan for 10 years ; just bought the g410 irons and added the forged glide wedges. The spin on these wedges is amazing as is the ball flight same lofts as vokey but forged glide fly higher, go 8 yards further per club and land softer.

but.....are you keeping the vokeys in the bag?

The grooves on the face impart spin, you'd think they'd be a different shape as often the face is opened so the lines are at an angle. Have there been faces with something other than parallel lines? 👍 ☺

I have a 60 degree ping 3.0 glide. It has a little to much bounce for my course, but it has ups. It also looks like a golf club out of cartoon. and the thing is very difficult to clean on the course, because of the deep grooves and their shape T_T
@robertx35615 жыл бұрын
Vokey are hard feeling. The Vokey wedges the guys use on tour are very soft. I have tried both, and the retail Vokey is hard feeling and lacks feel. The Ping if you are going retail only is the way to go.

@marcusprice31995 жыл бұрын
Quality comment! I've just started playing with what I would call a decent set of irons. Forged Mizunos, small head. At first it was killing me, shock waves up my arm every shot, but now I'm hitting the centre of the face (mostly) and I love the feel of them. You almost can't feel the ball at all on good shots.

I love my ping glide 2.0 wedges...52 ss, 56ss, 60es grinds...im assuming the eye 2 grind is a replacement for the es grind....around the greens and in bunkers the es grind is amazing to open that face and let it rip. My 60 is rather beat up now because that is my go to, maybe time for a replacement. Ive tried vokeys before and they seem harder to hit for me, sold it to my buddy and bought my pings again

Nothing like a new wedge to properly “shave” the balls. 🤤 Wedges with protruding leading edges have always made me nervous, but that Eye 2 looks like you can open the face and still be confident that you won’t blade the shot. Did you feel it was better in the sand than the other sole models?

One thing I would like to know is can the ping wedge be bent to 55 degree of loft , I usually go 50 , 55 and 60 so would need to deloft a 56 to 55 , and what are they made from forged or cast ?

That swing speed could be the result of a 200 rev increase... I don't think wedge testing is accurate unless done with a robotic arm. Sorry James, I love your content but this one I am doubtful on. Wedges are a personal preference and is very very dependent on feel in my opinion. Feel = confidence=results
