Imagine if you were out in the desert and no help? You'd be seriously fucked without a SPOT device or something.

I find it pretty frustrating to lose a day to technical problems at my local track 30mins away. I can only imagine how Boothy felt then! Hopefully this will be an oppertunity to get the bike in even better shape for the Dakar. Looking forward to more racing!

Reminds me of my first track day. I went down, van came to pick me up went around the track 3 times because they couldn't figure out where I was. Then sat in the back in pitch dark keeping my bike upright. Nothing like the mess you had but it came to mind.

When they announced they were using KTM bikes I thought 'oof, there's another element of challenge'. They make powerful stuff but everybody I know with KTM dirtbikes or ATVs spends more time fixing them than riding them.

Lads considering the expense this has already cost you is it not worth trying to get hold of a couple of spare bikes on sale or return so you have all the bits if you need them? If you don't use any bits the shop keeps a set amount of cash but if you do use them they're sold? Not sure what kind of deals you could work out but its got to be worth an ask.

KTMs generally have this rep for reliability. I'm not sure I would want to head into very distant lands on bikes that are not rock solid. And from what I saw, mostly its low/medium revs rather than redline work :/ Anyway - good luck, keep truckin on!
