Back in the '60s and '70s, these were the artists I grew up listening to on the radio. Then later when they got together, the results were always magic. I think that if Merle Haggard had been brought in as a 5th member of the Highwaymen, it would have been incredible. R.I.P. Waylon, Johnny, and Kris (and Merle). You are all loved and deeply missed. Willie, you're loved, too, thanks for sticking around. :)

Please, more of all 4 of them, performing both together and separate. All legendarily great rabbit holes.

Highway men brings back memories when I was a kid and my elders in my family would occasionally watch the same video of their concert performance. They would pop in the video tape and I would hear the music playing in the living room of my childhood home.

Willie Nelson has been in numerous movies and yes his voice is iconic! Sadly he is the only one alive in the Highway Men.

Yes. RIP Kris Kristofferson. All those folks up on stage are legends. Kris, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and my Hero Willie Nelson. That guitar is Willie's Main guitar. it has well over 10,000 concerts on it, as well as it is Willies Studio guitar. A Martin N20. There are many signatures on it. One being legendary "Rodger Miller", there are band members on it. Down toward the bottom of it there is "Budrock" that was Willie's Lighting director for many of years, that retired. I believe the first one was "Leon Russell" Trigger, as it is affectionately named. It comes from Roy Rodgers horse "Trigger" he was his sidekick.

This is a song I wish I'd written, not because it would make me rich and famous but because I wish I could sing it to my wife and have it be my own words. What amazing lyrics.

These 4 legends of music are irreplaceable. It's depressing to think what a tremendous downfall Country Music has taken in the past couple of decades. Ride easy, Johnny, Waylon, and Kris. You will always be in our hearts.

Willie's guitar might end up in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC

For Willie Nelson, you can look up Seven Spanish Angels that he did with Ray Charles,

I have rated kriss as the best song writer of all time and this the best love song of all time I really got in to kriss when my first marriage ended not my fault. But to see a young girl who appreciates good music wherever it comes from is refreshing

Love The Highwaymen, but this was actually a Kris Kristofferson song first, but back in those days, if one of them wrote a good song, they'd all end up doing it. It was much more common in general for songs to be covered and remarketed by others, but in this case, it was also sort of a communal thing when it was one of your friends that you were probably already hanging out and playing with anyways. In particular, Willie Nelson has said that he thinks Kris Kristofferson's "Help Me Make It Through The Night" is one of the most beautifully written songs ever. As much as I love Kris' original, and what a unique voice he has, and what a phenomenal lyricist he was, I actually like the cover that Waylon Jennings did of it, better. It's just has a more up beat rhythm, and I also just love Waylon's voice doing it!
