I misspoke. Craven actually worked with Sean S Cunningham on Last House on the Left...not this film.

@@alexanderarmstrong5306 well the problem is that he didn't had the budget or the story that he wanted it
@brutallyhonest41902 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. This is probably the best example of a movie that actually needed a remake. Not something like Nightmare on elm street which Wes Craven got right the first time and was only remade to make some money off of the title.
@salwashabazz73292 жыл бұрын
That remake was NOT better than the original lol. It was way more over the top and had more gore but that doesn’t make something a better movie; it never has and it never will. The cast who played the cannibal family were nowhere near as creepy as they were in the OG version. They were more nasty and cruder (maybe) but there was nothing unique about them! There was something about those OG actors and what they brought to their characters! The remake wasn’t bad by any means but it was just like any other “good remake” (more gore and way more over the top).

The Hills Have Eyes remake is literally one of my favorite horror films of all time. One of my favorite movies of all time. Such a great movie and since I watched it as a kid, it’s definitely the scariest movie I’ve ever seen.

Also FYI seeing the movie at a younger age definitely helped in me claiming this is the scariest movie I’ve ever seen, but also I went into this at like 11-12 years old not knowing what to expect. I knew nothing about The Hills Have Eyes and had no idea what I was getting myself into. I watched the movie with my older brother and when the scene where the mutant is on this rock chewing on a dogs leg, and then laughs a maniacal laugh, I swear I looked right over at my brother with the most terrified look on my face. All in all this remake is just one HELL of a movie and I Fucking love it. Can’t wait for you to review it.
@sharonpopolow68742 жыл бұрын
The remake is damn near as perfect as you're gonna get for a horror movie. The original was fantastic for the time it was made and the budget it was made with. The remake didn't really change too much, storywise. Even most of the characters had similar personalities even though they were played by different actors. Altogether, it seems like they just wanted to graduate the original to the level it coulda been had the finances and technology been available.

This is easily one of the most original horror movies made. The family aspect and the fact that they were piled up in a station wagon! I think anyone over 45 can remember piling up in a station wagon and going on family vacation. REmember the mini van didn't exist yet. LOL

I remember the remake coming out as a kid and have not seen it but this one the OG I’ll see first. The villain in the Hills Have Eyes ‘77 was in the music video of one of my favorite bands Mötley Crüe ‘Smokin in the Boys Room’. He played the principal.

I always loved the actor who plays "Pluto" (Michael Berryman) He was around quite a bit in 70s/80s. From Star Trek to he was the principal in the "Smokin' in the boys Room" video by Motley Crue.

There was a Hills Have Eyes 3 made in the 90s, but the name was changed to Mind Ripper due to it being not related at all to the first 2. I actually enjoyed it for what it was, a not so great B horror with Cravens name attached. Lolol

sir, you are an amazing movie reviewer. The visceral emotion that was caused by the extremely graphic violence and sexl scenes in Last House on the Left had me covered my eyes and looking away from the TV. In contrast, The Hill's have Eyes is one of my favorite Wes Craven movies. Everything you said is on point with the attachment you form to the family and it was so well cast & acted. And yeah, you can see between this and Last House that Wes was improving still, not quite there yet, but is getting better. And still several I'm looking forward to while you're doing this, Deadly Friend and Shocker just to name a few I loved growing up. As far as the question at the end, I think I saw this first before the remake, although I was only 9 years old when the remake came out, so can't 100% remember for sure if it was before or after.
