This film was more of an homage than a sequel. I saw it on opening night back in 88' at a sold out show and to this day it was the most fun I've had in the theatre. The anticipation and excitement in the audience was unreal. It was much more atmospheric on the the big screen in 35mm. For all of its superficial flaws, there are quite a few fine, subtle details that often go unappreciated (i.e. "Shape lurking in the background" moments, and good use of shadows and offscreen space ). Also, IMDB states its budget is $5 million, but I met director Dwight Little at the 35th convention and he clarified that it was made for only $3 million. It's initial $18 million box office return is not too shabby for what was essentially an independently produced film (this was before Universal came back into the franchise). Obviously a big fan here. :)

***** Agreed there. 3 at least had the merit of being an interesting premise. Also since the first 2 movies "finished" Myers story, I liked the idea of it becoming an anthology series. Unfortunately aside from the interesting premise, 3 had a lousy story. Witchcraft/science using magic microchips inside kids masks to take over the world and kill kids as the masks become real and full of bugs and snakes, plus the chips shoot lasers - oh and robots. It was just stupid. So for me, Halloween consists of the Laurie Strode trilogy. 1 is excellent. 2 is slow and plodding, with some good kills, & adds to the story. H20 had a good story, good kills, does a good job harkening back to the original while building off it, & finishing the story.
@twistednervepictures53388 жыл бұрын
I personally like Halloween 4. Despite it being extremely similar to the first movie, it has its unique elements like the character of Jamie Lloyd, the scene with Dr. Loomis and the reverend, the kick ass ending, and the fact that Michael causes more chaos in Haddonfield than ever before. Is it as good as the original? Hell no! Is it as original or inventive as Season of the Witch? Hell no! But it maintains the feel and spirit of the original Halloween. But that's how I feel about it. If you don't like it, that's perfectly understandable. Halloween 5 still sucks, though.

T vampasta That's the thing though. When you devote so much time trying to make people feel bad for michael myers, then you missed the point of myers.

RoboHoundGames i don't think it was quite trying to make people people feel bad for Michael Meyers but movie writers now a days love to say that serial killers come from a dysfunctional family or some kind of tragedy., and that's really my only problem with it. It is such a cliche and it is so annoying.

+RoboHoundGames Phelous has already done a fair chunk of the haloween movies. You could check them out if you're antsy for some jokes about how almost every character in the remakes looks like Rob Zombie.

"No-one noticed the giant with third degree burns" lolol. On the subject of Ted Hollister, what the frig was he doing in the bushes? I think they should have called him "Ted Tramer" and made it a running joke that Tramers keep getting accidentally killed on Halloween

I really only like parts 1 and 2.. I tap out at the rest! I watch 4 and 5 if I’m really bored and/or need background noise or a nap lol

sicilianotoronto well if that’s what u think of 4 and 5, I’d hate to see what u think of 6,7, and 8. Not to mention the rob zombie movies

I really wish they had gone with the anthology idea. Having a new story and villain each year/sequel sounds like it could have been fun and given the series more longevity.

Halloween 3 I’ve yet to watch so here’s my opinions on the series non including Halloween 3 Halloween 1 - pretty awesome how they did this with a low budget. Halloween 2 - Same opinion of Part 1 Halloween 4 - ok concept. Love the twist Halloween 5 - May have not kept the twist but still managed to be neutral even if it looked rushed Halloween 6 - My guilty pleasure Halloween H20 - back to basics as awesome as 1 and 2 Halloween Resurrection - also a guilty pleasure RB Halloween - Edgier than original which I found cool. Guilty pleasure too. RB Halloween II - Same opinion as RB Halloween 1

so you kind of like all of them?

I just realized Halloween 3 is the origin story of Mike's mask! Mike was never a killer, it was halloween costumes that made him cucu for murderpuffs. Everything makes sense know.Freddy and Jason werent fighting, they were having horror movie villain sex! Violence is sex and sex is murder! I'VE CRACKED THE CODE!

Halloween 4, 5, and 6 were great sequels. To each their own.

Even though 5 and 6 are bad. At least they had Dr. Loomis in them and are still miles better than Resurrection.

Anyone else notice that parts 4, 5, 6 of both Halloween and Friday The 13th have basically the same idea of protagonist and abandoned plot twist?

Stoned Gremlins Productions, at 23:37 it's not Michael Myers at all with a different mask, it was Ben Tramer's spirit getting revenge on Loomis for getting him killed in part 2, so yes he's alive, I just now realized that, now you can be happy, and so can I.
@randalgraves69793 жыл бұрын
🤔 if it’s Ben Tramers SPIRIT, how can he be ALIVE, that sorta negates the whole thing 😐🤨

Controversy time: I personally think Halloween 4 is a great sequel. IMO, It had a better autumn feel than the original movie (probably because of the bigger budget), I thought Rachel and Jamie were likeable characters, and that twist ending was pretty god damn great. Is it as good as Halloween 2? No. But it's still one of the better Halloween sequels out there, and one I don't really mind popping in every Halloween season or watching on TV. Kinda like how I feel about Halloween 3. As for 5 & 6, I choose to believe that those movies never happened.
