THE ‘HIPPO’ BULLY - HAIRLESS AMERICAN BULLY - Brand New Dog Breed!

The Hairless American Bully aka 'Hippo Bully' is a new unrecognised dog breed. He's very controversial with mixed opinions. Anneka flies to Spain to find out what all the fuss is about this breed that is cooking up such a stir in the press.
The Hairless Bully is genetically identical to a normal haired bully, apart from the fact he has been given the hairless DNA gene in a laboratory. This cooks up a huge debate surrounding the ethics involved in the creation of a new dog mix artificially.
Animal Watch supports the American Bully and does not agree with the UK XL ban. We continue to campaign for dog licencing and regulation of ALL breeders, accompanied by mandatory dog training classes. The bullies who appear in this film are Spanish and the XL is legal in Spain.
Note: Every dog breed was created by man and are all mutated wolves. Most breeds have health issues due to inbreeding to create a dog breed, whether a thousand years ago or recently. If you require a perfect example of a dog, then don't get any dog, as none of them equal the wolf's design by natural selection which gives him long ears, long muzzle, long life span and healthy internal organs. The Hairless Bully is no different to any other human created dog breed.

Breeding should be to benefit the dog, not just make it more appealing to buyers. Making a bully (a breed that already suffers with skin issues) hairless does not benefit the breed in any way. It's sad the breeders have done this.

I have to agree with you, unfortunately almost every breed has natural defects, for example ridgebacks, that's a defect in the spine. Every brachycephalic breed out there has breathing problems, that's most bull breeds, and a lot of others. Cavalier king charles spaniels have so many health problems it's ridiculous. Most bulldogs are born by c-section along with a lot of toy breeds such as chihuahuas... Find a breed and research it's defects, I wish you luck finding a healthy breed. The reason most people arent aware of these things? I'm sorry to say it's that they didn't research their animals properly before buying them. Sadly that is true for the vast majority of dog owners.

Anneka’s job or main focus is not to judge the subject, her job is to inform and show the content and let viewers decide what is best for them. Just as she showed the “Butcher of Romania” episode in the past, her job is to document and inform. She even states this at fhe beginning of the video. That the subject will be a controversial one, but its up to you as a viewer to decide. Genetic defects are definitely a major issue. But thats one breed you see here, and now. There are millions of other dogs that are unseen that are poorly bred and have been suffering health wise because of poor breeding.

It does not serve a purpose except to make an unusual animal. It does make it more vulnerable to sunburn and body temperature control. The xoloitzcuintli is hairless to manage heat, that serves no purpose in a bully dog.

They love sunbathing, yet we keep them in the shadow during strongest sun hours (as we do with any human/ sun in Spain is strong). But one of them live in the cold north Europe and he is dining so fine in that climate. I would say they are ok in both climates if you have common sense

I have the utmost respect for you and what you do. I usually look forward to all of your content. I didn't enjoy this one. It reminds me of some of the abhorrent excesses that Victorian "breeders" produced, i.e. the "so called" British Bulldog. Do a focus on a Plummer Terrier . One fantastic, actually the best, working terrier.

If this breeder is kind how could she do such a thing and why? knowing that if the breed takes off that will mean hundreds of puppys will have this done to them and that breeder will IMO be responsible for creating this new breed of puppies to suffer the same fate . if you must breed NEW breed pleasse be responsible and breed them with tails and ears , thats the least you can do. It's interesting to see that this hairless variety of American XL Bully requires similar grooming requirements as the Xolo. And like the Xolo, it's prone to acne and requires proper medication. I wonder if these bullies also require sunscreen (the kind for dogs) when living in a hot environment.

I enjoyed a lot of their videos but this is awful. The Giant Schnauzer portrayal was pretty good except they had at least one non full blood or totally other breed they would show a lot, and, it had natural ears that stood up by themselves??? No, no Giant Schnauzer has standing natural ears...it was not a full blood Giant Schnauzer. That was cringe worthy and embarrassing. Giant Schnauzers deserve to be portrade correctly.

It’s a good question. Our dogs , all 30, are just like that, they are brought up to be very friendly and loving, if you visit us you will see they will love you straight away and in first moments will cuddled up in your arms

I was very concerned when i first saw these dogs pop up on KZbin. However after watching this particular breeder I am feeling good about the way they are bringing this breed about... Absolutely not. A big part of our work as breeders is to look for the perfect homes to our pups and not only we breed but we help to rescue XL bully’s from UK and another breeds. Also we work with shelters to train some dogs who have behavioral problems to give them more chances to be adopted. The most important for us is to offer dogs the best life they could have.

I enjoyed the vlog . The dogs seem loved and healthy . I do however have concerns for the dogs health due to being hairless . Similar too silky bearded dragons . Ofcourse there is gonna be extra care bathing and moisturiser need to be applied . My personal belief is we as humans have no right to mess with nature regardless of the animal . We’re destroying the planet and doing little to nothing to fix issue . The lady seemed lovely there no nastiness meant . I just feel uncomfortable with messing with nature . Yes dogs have been messed with over the years . I don’t agree with that either . The dogs seemed very happy and healthy and I wish her luck with her dogs . Xl bully’s should not been banned at all . Back yard breeders need banned and fools shouldnt have dogs they have no understanding or training . I’ve met a number of Xl bully’s and a beautiful wolf dog . I’m also a slave to a husky and lab puppy

I'm not in favour of kennels, breeding dogs, certainly not for genetic (or cosmetic) alterations but I know people behind XLK very well. Their care and understanding of dogs is exceptional. I met the dogs, too - a very friendly and loving pack. Many dogowners could learn from them.

They do look like hippo dogs when they run 😂It´s rare to see an intentional hairless dog, I only know of the one breed. I would not get one, ONLY because there is already too much stigma against bully breeds.
