People Edison stole from: -Tesla -Joseph Swan, the ACTUAL inventor of the lightbulb -Louis LePrince -Wilhelm Rontgen, inventor of the XRay machine -Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville, inventor of the sound recorder EDIT: To everyone saying that Rontgen received credit, it is true, but as soon as Edison heard that such an idea was possible, he tried to build his own X-ray machine with the intent on taking credit from Rontgen. He stopped working on his X-ray machine when it killed his assistant Clarence Dally. Thankfully everyone still acknowledges who the real inventor was but it could’ve easily went the other way

Edison - he's that one guy in your team who takes all the credit for a project you all worked on while he did nothing. The history books must be updated. Put the names of the rightful inventors next to their inventions! Don't put Edison! Update: thank you so much for all the likes. And I just realized that Ryan and Shane could have included Louis Le Prince in their seance session in "Weird and Wonderful World" on their Watcher channel. My theory is simple he was robed sometime after his brother saw him last, note that in 1890 and still today Paris was notorious for petty crime like theft and it was not unusual to be robed in Paris especially if you you were not from there. During the robbery, one or more men tried to steal his brief cases which probably escalated into some type of fight between Louis Le Prince and the robbers, probably because Louis knew that important documents were in the brief case and he did not want anyone to steal his idea. The fight probably ended with Louis beaten and the robbers angered after the discover only drawings and nothing in their minds of important value. Now angered and pissed off that Louis did not have anything important in their minds in his briefcase, they then probably proceeded to toss his briefcase and papers along with his either concision or unconscious body into the river. Due either to his injuries or unconscious Louis probably drowned. Note: the French police pulled a unidentified man who look very similar to Louis Le Prince from the Seine River the same day he went missing.

His friends were waiting to pick him up in Paris. This would mean that he would have been "robbed" at some point during his trip to Paris. This raises the question: how could this robbery have gone unnoticed? How could they have dumped his body without anybody else noticing? Not that it matters, but Louis was a large man standing at 6'4...

Side Note:- In 2003, the Paris Police, while going through old archives discovered a photograph of a man who strongly resembled Louis Le Prince drowned in a river near to the tracks where the train Le Prince boarded was supposed to be going through, its most likely Edison's men stole his suitcase in the train itself and threw him out of the train into the river, the date on the photograph was also written around late Sept 1890, around the time Le Prince disappeared.

Like we kind of isolate and look at history piece by piece but a lot happened at the exact same time

I don't think it's incorrectly taught for the most part. Rather different parts in the world will tell it differently depending on what side they were on and their perspective. Great example for this the 80 year war between Spain and the Netherlands. I was taught that us the dutch were finally free and spain was oppressing the dutch and mistreating them. But someone from spain might tell it differently. Really you'll get what really happened if you take all the sides and pick out all the facts that BOTH or more parties all agree up on

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST EXAMPLES WHICH PROVES THAT WE SHOULD NOT ALWAYS SIMPLY EASILY BELIEVE INVENTION CLAIMS BECAUSE THERE IS ALWAYS A BIG POSSIBILITY THAT EVEN LOUI COULD HAVE JUST STOLEN HIS IDEAS FROM SOMEONE ELSE AS WELL. THERE IS ALSO A BIG POSSIBILITY THAT THIS SPECIFIC KIND OF CRAFT HAS ALREADY BEEN EXISTING WITHIN SOME SECRET POWERFUL FAMILIES WITH KNOWLEDGE AND CAPABILITY INHERITED FROM THEIR GREAT GREAT GRANDPARENTS SINCE THE FAR ANCIENT PAST, PROBABLY EVEN BEFORE THE GREAT WORLDWIDE FLOOD. THE PRE-FLOOD HUMAN CIVILIZATION WAS VERY POWERFUL AND OVERWHELMINGLY SOPHISTICATED BECAUSE THEY HAD THE 200 ANGELS, AND CHILDREN OF THE 200 ANGELS, LIVING AMONGST THE WHOLE HUMANITY. I AM PRETTY SURE THAT THEIR CRAFTS WERE COMPLETELY FAR MORE SUPERIOR THAN OURS TODAY. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, PLEASE READ THE BOOK OF GENESIS CHPATER SIX AND THE BOOK OF ENOCH CHAPTER SIX AS WELL. I come from the same country as Tesla and I have to tell ya, overhear we have museums and events dedicated to him where we eveb display things that Edison stole from him. His hometown is very proud and they kept his house in its original state.

I totally agree. Really in regards to Edison in general, it's known that he stole ideas pretty often so I really think schools should stop giving him all the credit. At the very least mention that it's likely most of what he's known for probably wasn't truly all his work.

Never heard of him but I sure had heard several stories of this "businessman" Thomas Edison stealing credits from real inventors. Louis Le Prince and several others need the credits they rightfully deserve. Great job covering this Ryan!

Imagine as a child you see your father working countless hours into the night, whimsical pictures around the walls, and seeing the invention of the first movie only for him to disappear at the time his debut only for another man to later make the same thing years later but you have proof he did it first but can do nothing. This makes me sad :(

Edison certainly chose his thefts wisely! He must've been pretty good at greasing the palms of the right people too, as he got away unscathed on so many occasions. This is soo sad, I mean this guy is the reason why we're watching videos on KZbin.

@LunaDelTuna
@LunaDelTuna 6 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Tesla's electricity was supposed to be free and energy efficient. Edison's direct current (combustible) electricity is actually harmful to the environment in comparisons to Tesla's alternating current which was in a sense using the electromagnetic fields of the earth in a way that was harmless. Also, the reason Edison's idea won over Tesla's is because people would have to be charged to use it, meaning more money for the people providing it. If you are interested you should look up the Ancient Egyptian pyramids, solely the middle one where scientists are starting to believe it was used as a type of electricity for the civilization, JUST like Tesla's tower.

Because he wasn't going to charge people to use it, like I clearly stated earlier. People (by people I mean the one's controlling our technology) don't want to provide us free anything because then they would not be making any money. It's pretty simple.
