Welcome to the first episode of Political Islam, a course taught by Dr. Taimur Rahman at LUMS, where we explore the historical foundations of Islamic governance. The lecture provides an in-depth look at:
The nature of government and political authority in early Islam
Theological and philosophical underpinnings of Islamic rule
Early debates around the role of the caliphate and the separation of religious and political authority
Key questions about legitimacy, divine law, and power that informed the political landscape of early Islamic societies
Dr. Rahman offers insights into the dynamic and sometimes contentious formation of Islamic political structures. Whether you’re a student of political science, history, or religion, this lecture provides a compelling start to understanding the complex evolution of political Islam.

Taimur saabh, it’s a fantastic lecture, loved it. But it’s important…. Crucially important for you to explain Hazrat Ali’s point of departure from Hazrat Abu Bakar and Hazrat Omar on issues of administration based on which he did not become the 3rd Challiph even though it was offered to him before Hazrat Uthman was considered. It is not enough to state that he wanted to return to precedence set by Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), after all, what was this administrative precedence set by him that had been altered?

Brilliant lecture. Just wanna give feedback from shis perspective. A) shia doesn't believe that imamat SHOULD be from one lineage but HAPPENS to be from one lineage because GOD CHOSEN that lineage. B) the mame was not muljim , it was ibn e muljim .
@DaniyalNaqvi-t5s
@DaniyalNaqvi-t5s 2 ай бұрын
That is not entirely true, because although Shias have argued that Hazrat Ali was the chosen one, the argument for his selection was often centered around the idea of "who better than his cousin and son-in-law". And that keeps passing on. If the concept of Shia Imamate was as simple, there wouldn't have been multiple people from within the family claiming to be the Imam in nearly every succession post-Imam Hussain. This happened under Imam Zain ul Abideen, Imam Muhammad Baqir, multiple times under Imam Musa Kazim and so on. And interestingly it was always from within the family.

Himyar kingdom was an Yemani Arab Jewish kingdom. An Arab prince who converts to Judaism. The kingdom for long was a client state of Axum or the Ethiopian empire. The Yemenite Jews in Israel today are another branch of the Arab Jews. The biggest Arab Jews are Mizrahis who form over 40% of Jewish population in Israel

Your words, tone, and body language expose your true intentions-you are clearly working with an agenda to undermine Islam. It’s evident that you harbor deep-seated hostility towards our faith and are dedicated to spreading this animosity. But let me remind you, no amount of scheming or animosity can shake the foundation of Islam. The truth stands firm, and your actions only reveal your own emptiness. Islam has faced and overcome adversaries far greater than you, and it will continue to thrive, no matter how hard you try to oppose it

The number 124,000 or 124,313 is mythical. The Quran includes names of 25 prophets who were sent in the Middle East. Most of them were the progeny of Hazrat Ibrahim. Nevertheless it is also clearly stated that apostles were sent to every people.
