Correction: Some parts are pretty confusing, and I apologize for that. Below, I'll try to explain. So, Blood Will Tell originally, like I said, was stated to release in Spring 2004 as seen in a preview trailer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ3Tp4p3e8iama8 Then SEGA released a Japanese trailer afterwards which stated a 9/9/2004 release date. So, the question I had when I was searching this was " What happened to Spring 2004 release?". Turns out the game was delayed to September 21. And from what I played on the JPN version of the game, Dororo still has some English voice overs in-game, especially during Dororo's "Dororo Uppercut and Dororo kick" attacks. This probably (just my theory) shows that Blood Will Tell Aka Dororo was originally going to release into USA first. When I said Amemiya Keita worked at Red Entertainment, that was my mistake. He was contracted by SEGA, but he still worked occasionally with Red Entertainment to provide some feedback due to his excellent expertise.

Great video, I remember playing this back in the day. It's nice to see people getting to know more about this underrated gem. Also that PS2 case cover, I loved that artwork. It was done by Hiroaki Samura, the legendary author of "Blade of the Immortal". Thank you so much for this video, we appreciate the time and effort you put in to this.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Who knew Sonic 2 influenced the game somehow, eh? I like to imagine that one day Team Ninja or Valhalla Studio (the guys behind the Samurai Jack game) would one day make a Dororo game. Make it fast-paced, flashy, and with some exploration segments. Kinda like the Genji games, but full-on 3D.

Outstanding video and editing. Your content always high quality. I'm looking forward to Bujingai getting the same treatment! I loved this game. It's a Metroidvania in 3D, with tons of powers and skills to learn and master, and it consistently offers challenge to keep up with your power levels. I also dig the fact that it's set up like a TV show with episodes. I think that fits the story they're trying to tell well. The Astro Boy game was also excellent. It was completely true to the characters, played buttery smooth, and featured non-stop action. Realistically, it was probably the best Mega Man game we got in years. If you like reading about game development, I can't recommend Masters of DOOM enough. I live close to where most of that book takes place in Texas, and could easily drive to all the locations in an afternoon. It also shows how much work it takes to make a truly legendary game that withstands the test of time. Pick it up if you get the chance. The audiobook is read by Wil Wheaton from Star Trek and he does an excellent job.

I'm glad you liked it! Bujingai's video should be up after a few videos (3D beat'em up history, and the 2nd part of FPS classics). And that one has also an unheard of information I was shocked nobody mentioned as of yet. Interestingly, you're the only person I know that sees Blood Will Tell as a Metroidvania because usually the majority aren't aware that the PS2 all the way to the PS3 had some experimental 3D metroidvanias. You also had games like Pitfall: The Lost Expedition, Rygar (PS2) which had several metroidvania elements not many are aware of. I also liked the Astro Boy game adaptation. Same for the GBA game (Omega Factor) as well. It's quite a shame that the the game adaptation of the movie (2009) wasn't too memorable. It was fun, but it's not something you'll go back to right away for a second replay. "If you like reading about game development, I can't recommend Masters of DOOM enough." I've always wanted to read this book for a while now, but never found the time. Interestingly, I didn't know that the audiobook was read by Wil Wheaton (O_O). Thank you for recommending me the book. I'll try to find sometime to jump to it after I'm done with the Untold History of Japanese Developers Volume 1. Once again, thanks for watching!

@@freeckycakeOG If you ever do decide to do a video on Masters of DOOM, feel free to ask me to shoot some footage or take pictures here. I'd be happy to help. It's a 15 minute drive for me, and a 10,000 mile trip for you.

Your video is very informative, but damn is it hard to hear. Try to increase the volume of the audio much higher during editing.

@@freeckycakeOGThank you for introducing me to this game, I just downloaded the ISO and will be playing it on the PS2 emulator soon. I was hooked by the box art, I believe it's drawn by the "Blade of the Immortal" manga artist, that's how I recognize the artstyle, very distinct!

Enjoy! I'm glad you discovered a new game! Yes, Hiroaki Samura did a fantastic job with the JP cover art of the game and the promotional material. I'm hoping that in the future SEGA may hire an AA developer to make another Dororo game. KInda like the style of the recent Samurai Jack game but with exploration, RPG elements, and a fun combat system.

@@freeckycakeOG Honestly, it's sad to say this but I doubt this game will ever get a sequel. It seems like a one and done deal. The game has a cult following but only did "okay" in sales and reviews. It's a shame but every art medium as artistic products that don't get the spotlight they deserve. This was one of those games that only got popular after it's death. Even IF the game was successful, I don't know if it's possible to even continue the story. The game featured 48 bosses which represented all the body parts that he'd regain. In a sequel, I'm not sure how they'd follow the manga's story if all the story was told in the original game.

@@canadianturtle7240 You are right. A sequel won't happen because the story was finished. If they had to make a sequel they'd have to consult with Tezuka. Unfortunately, he's not here anymore. My idea is more of a re-iteration of BLW but with an improved combat and all that. Kinda like what Oneechanbara and Gungrave did recently.
