Wow thank you so much for an amazing video! I always wondered why Maximo 3 didnt happen and now i know. Im glad they atleast ported Maximo 1 for the PS3!

The combat was better, but the environments and atmosphere was so much better in the first. The swamp levels are engraved into my head forever.

That's true. I kinda liked the epic soundtrack AOZ had, but the level design of the original is still unmatched. I keep wondering how Maximo 3 would've looked like if it got past the prototype phase. I guess we'll never know...

So we never got an excellent 3rd game in the series cuz Capcom Japan felt inferior the American studio?? That's extremely petty and very disappointing as a fan of Maximo!

Fingers crossed they remaster both games in a Klonoa style collection, even with less extra assets/work. Just updated res, maybe unlock the engine a bit for higher framerates, a few other options and stuff, bam - Capcom makes some bucks on Steam and console lol

Why Capcom Japan have a hate boner for Maximo? So this is why Maximo 3 got cancelled because of this!?
@freeckycakeOG7 ай бұрын
tl,dr? Capcom of Japan hated Maximo's success. The long version? Capcom of Japan feared that an American branch was going to produce better games with little resources. From what I've been told ( I can't share sources due to confidentiality), but Capcom of Japan underfunded its American branches back then, but CDS still managed to pull it off with two successful games. It didn't also help that around that time, everyone was fighting to climb the ranks at Capcom of Japan. You had Yoshiki Okamoto, Keiji Inafune, Atsushi Inaba, Shinji Mikami, Tatsuya Minami...etc. And around that time there was also a struggle for power in Capcom of Japan which wasn't resolved until the late 2010s. :/

To me, Maximo is the original Dark Souls. There was NOTHING like it at the time, the difficulty and the challenging game style! Shame that infighting at capcom caused it to be shelved indefinitely but as you said, it lives in our memories.

So that's why Final Fight Streetwise turns into Dead Rising in the latter half... Adding guns to that game was what ultimately killed the series. Final Fight is about hand to hand combat, not shooting people.

Tom Sekine wanted FFS to be like that. The original concept, FF Seven Sons, looked more faithful to the original game. Unfortunately, CDS took the fall for his management.

I forgot about Maximo being able to transform into the Grim Reaper. Transformation in video games is always cool. That would be a great concept for a video. You should do one on that. This is really interesting! A Megaman game on the Maximo engine?!?!? Sign me up!!! Capcom wastes so many things. One of the worst in my eyes was the fact that Megaman X: Command Mission never got a sequel. It had so many great ideas, but really needed refinement that could have been addressed in a sequel. It just seems like the story of Capcom is the story of what might have been. At least it has a good historian documenting it. 😃👍

I did cover the topic of transformation in one of my old videos kzbin.info/www/bejne/naeroql5ptOVmLMsi=4aD0Zr_YAwgVmN9Z But I felt that I didn't a great job back then. Perhaps, I can venture back to it once I can come up with a better concept. Mega Man HNS wasn't the only one. It turns out that David Siller wanted to make a Bionic Commando 3D and Strider 3D game back then. He had some of the concepts in mind, but I think that's what made Yoshiki Okamoto fear him. The guy had a gift. As you can see, Maximo wasn't like all those indie GNG clones. I'd go as far as to say Maximo made GNG feel obsolete in some aspects. PS: I don't know if David Siller still has concepts of Mega Man HNS still. I just hope he would answer some of my emails and share some. I haven't played Megaman X: Command Mission, but I read good things about it. Also the soundtracks in that game slap, haha. You know, Capcom has all of these properties, but not many to work on them. Who on earth will work on a Viewtiful Joe sequel? or an Okami follow-up? only a madman XD Haha, thanks for watching as always 1000Servings.

@@freeckycakeOG I was joking. Your transformation video was brilliant and made me a subscriber. I really feel like that element is missing from games today because Unreal 4 doesn't do transformation or transition well. This is why the Resident Evil 4 remake was so bad. They couldn't even make a character run through a window to outside the building like they could in the original. The scene where you could get eaten by the fish in the lake has to be a cutscene for the same reason: they couldn't make the fish come out of the lake. It's like an enormous leap backwards in technology. MegaMan X: Command Mission should have been a franchise. It has so many interesting ideas, like the world being completely inhabited by robots, right down to the animals and most plants. There was so much to see and do and tons of puzzle elements. It also had a ton of, you guessed it, TRANSFORMATIONS! It was really rough around the edges though and could be really repetitive. It's the example I always use for why sequels are important. They could have improved so much and made real magic. It seems like they abandoned it though, much like The Misadventures of Tron Bonne game. Fun fact, I bought that game when I was stationed in Japan and beat it completely, despite not knowing a word of the language at the time. It was entirely through trial and error. I played a lot of games like that. This was great. Keep up the good work, FC. You're getting a lot more confident and it shows.

@@100Servings Woah, you subbed from that video? how did you find it? XD I also didn't like the recent RE4 remake, and neither the RE2/3. The RE2 was probably okay, but the original Gamecube remake will always be a true survival horror for me. Hmmm, you think it's only because of the UE4 engine? What if developers just don't want to bother with that theme at all? I'm not tech savvy, but I'm just saying... What If... I could say the same about destruction physics. Remember how in Red Faction series you could literally destroy anything? Don't want to come from the door? Want to blow up the wall instead? do it! And you had games like Just Cause, Mercenaries, Ultimate Hulk and a lot of games where destruction felt great! I wonder if Mega Man X Command Mission has its own fanbase. Because as you can see, nearly all the instalments have a fanbase behind them: Battle Network, Zero series, X, Rockman. But Command Mission has none afaik. I wonder why.... A sequel could definitely work if they give the games to say prominent JRPG developers? Like say Tri-Ace? Because they made Resonance of Fate and I liked that game. It took a long while for me to understand, but damn what a ride! Thanks once again, 1000Servings!

@@freeckycakeOG If there's one shining beacon of hope, it's RoboCop: Rogue City. It's the first game to run on Unreal 5, has smooth transitions from outdoors to indoors, has tons of environmental destruction, and even has transformation, visible damage, and dismemberment. These are all things Unreal 4 didn't do well. While Teyon is just an absolutely amazing studio, the fact that they can do those things with the new engine means anyone can. The future looks bright! I'm a bit eclectic in my video watching. I watched a video on the history of handedness in video games the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it. There's so few games where you can choose to be left handed, and even fewer that force it on the player. That said, now you see why I dig your content. 😃👍

@@100Servings OH, RoboCop: Rogue City! I heard great things about it. Sadly, I'm still stuck with the old games. The last one I played was from the PS2 alongside The Terminator 3: Redemption. The Terminator game is fun at first but gets increasingly hard.... You are right. I just wish we'll see more of games embracing transformation. I hope that with PennyBlood (by the same guys behind Shadow Hearts) players will get to once again transform into a demon!

Man it quiet sad but see what the Maximo 3 project is I wont deny I am having some doubt if it would be sucesseful due the Radical change due of GTA influence Heck as you mention Jak 2 change heavily to become a GTA like and the new design i wont lie it is not too appealing compare the other two. You know if capcom wont do it let the fan do it their own version of Maximo 3 heck, Rayman Fan are making alot of Rayman fan game and project cause Ubisoft dont give a shit to the fan. Who know in a alternative time line maybe could be suceed or maybe it flop we will never know
@freeckycakeOG7 ай бұрын
Hmmmm, yeah. I remember many having doubt about the Maximo 3 setting since it was heavily influenced by some parts of the middle-east. Still, what they showed is just a prototype. It could have changed dramatically during development. It could have worked like Jak 3 did (which is my favourite platformer). The reason why I mention Jak 3 is because the third instalment had some of the elements from the original game unlike Jak 2 where you were mostly stuck in Haven City doing missions. The issue with Maximo is that it doesn't has a fanbase as big as Rayman. However, there were recently some efforts in the modding community. They made two hard MODS for Maximo 1 and 2. And while they have some game breaking bugs, it's a sign that Maximo may one day get the recognition it deserves.
