I can't get over how much this looks like what Dark Souls would become. Even a god damn swamp level.

I'm surprised you see that. I mean other than being dark fantasy idk... Difficulty I guess? It's an action game, but DS is far more RPG with narrative and an interconnected map. Maximo is far more ratchet and clank maps than Metroidvania and bosses. There's a hub, which I guess the first DS kinda had but it's connected to others, while Maximo has little warp holes and stuff.

We never got the Altered Beasts reboot here in America. I know it's terrible, but I'm such a Sega fanboy, I'd probably still play it. I've seen a few videos on it though. It should have stayed in the original ancient setting. This is a great video. You covered absolutely everything on the topic. It just goes to show, you can cover a game concisely without needed to fill two hours. I'll watch the second half soon. Good work, FC!

Hmmm, I actually liked Altered Beast remake (at least that's what SEGA calls it). It may not be perfect, but it's not the worst game ever made. I do plan to cover its history one day. The way how the game came to be is quite interesting as it all started because of one TV series. Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video. I originally wanted to delve more into the Japanese reception, and show some comments from the archived Japanese forums and such. And also talk about the merchs in details and KokoCapcom (Korean publisher of Maximo), but that turned out to be too looong! Maybe in the future I could return to this.

@@freeckycakeOG It would be great in a few years to go back and just make a compilation of things you learned later or had to leave out for time. As you continue to improve as a creator, I'm sure there are things you'll want to address. Just make sure to never truly get rid of your old content. Civvie 11 redid the audio on one of his oldest videos and it's horrible. His passion and frustration is gone from his BLOOD 2 review and it just sounds like he's acting. A good performance is ephemeral, like lightning in a bottle, for all its greatness and failures. We would be the people we are without the mistakes we made to get here.

@@100Servings That is a good idea. And well said, but I'd like to add something. You see, I'm not trying to be gloomy or anything, but from my experience with sharing on Reddit, the folks there have immensely high expectations when it comes to videos. It has to meet the same details and production value of well-known and big KZbinrs. Kinda depressing when you think about it. But what keeps me going is the fact that Reddit is just a drop of water on the internet, perhaps there are MANY people who will want to experience growing with a creator until he reaches a certain level? For instance, I do plan to remake Pitfall: The Lost Expedition I made as I felt I could touch more on the cut content, and talk more about the cancelled pitch of PTLE before it started development. Damn. There is a lot to do, haha.

@@freeckycakeOG In life, you can only compete with yourself. Just getting a video together and published can be an accomplishment. Don't let other people tear you down. If you think you did good, you did good. If you're disappointed, that's okay as long as you learn from it. I tried making videos myself at one point. It was surprisingly easy, and they kept getting better and better. I eventually lost interest, but I don't look back at what I did with any sense of shame. I even went out to a town I had never been to and shot on location, with zero help at any step of the process, and zero experience with recording or editing. There's always going to be critics. At the end of the day, you need to set realistic goals for yourself and do your best to achieve them. Accept the praise from yourself when you do good, and learn from your mistakes. This is how we become a complete person. All the praise in the world from strangers isn't going to make you feel good when you think you've personally failed, and all the criticism in the world shouldn't undo what you feel you've done well. It doesn't matter if you're a bodybuilder or a KZbinr, the mindset is the same. Good luck, and be proud of all you do.
