@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries The only reason why the Trampoline Stage was not converted to home consoles was because they don't have space to fit the Circus Hud at the top, and therefore can't pull off the same Fourth Wall Break as it's Arcade counterpart. I would also like to point out that Charlie's design in the home console conversions looked drastically different from the Arcade Version. He went from looking like the same Clown on the Arcade Artwork, to looking like the "Jack in the Box" Restaurant Mascot. What's crazier is that the NES artwork for Circus Charlie (specifically the Japanese Boxart, as the Nintendo port probably wasn't released in America for some reason), has Charlie looking less like a Clown. Not that it's a bad design, it's a different interpretation of the "Circus Charlie" character; a young athletic boy who wants to amaze people with his youthful demeanor and strong enthusiasm.

I honestly thought I’d never see an in-depth video about Circus Charlie!! (although now I see others in KZbin). I’ve played this a lot as a kid, but never could pass the last level. I was really surprised that an extra trampoline level exists! Excellent work, as usual.

Each of the stages has an extra special bonus that takes a little savvy to know about. There's a secret coin that pops up randomly on a basket in the lion stage. It can only be triggered when jumping backwards on a fire basket. The Bird that flies overhead in the trampolines can only be triggered if you get all the money bags. Using the trampoline in the trapeze level to skip a trapeze causes a 5000pt bonus, when you grab the next trapeze successfully. The Dolphins only appear everytime you pass the trampoline stage every 2 times. It's very interesting that the home console versions of Circus Charlie on the Horse Level uses American Patrol as the stage music. I should search the calliope and wurlitzer circus compositions for the arcade stage musics names.

It was the same with seemingly every early arcade port. Like the NES version of Donkey Kong was missing an entire level from the arcade game. And there's only 4 levels in donkey Kong in the first place. At least Nintendo salvaged that by making Donkey Kong for game boy which is still by far the best classic Donkey Kong game (so not including donkey Kong country, just donkey Kong games where donkey kong is the enemy and you play as jump man, aka Mario) Donkey Kong 94 as it's often called (cos it came out in 1994 for game boy) is the best game boy game. Seriously. I guess I have to add an "IMO" to that statement. But everyone who plays it immediately loves it. It is perfectly tailored to the game boy's strengths and weaknesses. For example it's a slower paced game so screen blur wasn't an issue. It's just a very addictive puzzle platformer. With like 100+ unique levels. It's hard to go back to the arcade donkey Kong after having played donkey Kong 94
@retrofan4963 Жыл бұрын
@@duffman18 I'll go as far to say Donkey Kong 94 is better than the Donkey Kong Country games. Donkey Kong 94(GB) has much better design and is overall more fun than the DKC games. Then again, I'm more fan of classic OG Donkey Kong than RareWare's interpretation of the Donkey Kong series, which Nintendo ended up leaning more into for the modern Donkey Kong games and appearances these days. I miss the good ol rivarly between Mario and Donkey Kong(Along with Donkey Kong Jr), and when Pauline is Mario's main girlfriend. Even Stanley the Bugman(Who fought Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong 3 for Arcade) is forgotten in the Mario/Donkey Kong series.

The Group's of Clowns And More Group's of Circus Clown's Are Coming Too Under The Big Top And Colorphobia or The Fear of Clown's Just Reminds Me of THE JOKER From BATMAN But in The Tim Burton's Film of The 1989 Movie BATMAN The Joker Play By Jack Nicholson is One of All And as You Can See He's a Lot More Evil And Happier With a Smile On His Face. Just Kidding I Love Clown's Especially Circus Charlie From KONAMI®.
