I found Mappy Arrangement at one of my very last Arcades of the 1990s before it went extinct. There were two arcade games at my Ben Franklin store back then too, and of course the Pizzeria shops, which made waiting for Pizza a lot of fun. Mappy is a fun escape game with bouncing trampolines, with some great conversions too. The MZ700 version is unique, if standing very far away from the screen. ;) Thanks, Patman!

There's other ports, mainly to some early Japanese computers. It was also on Namco Museum 50th Anniversary on the PS2, X-Box, Game Cube, and PC. That PS2 compilation is one way I play it (the pack is pretty much emulation on a disc), the PSP by way of Namco Battle Museum, and of course the Famicom version, which I enjoy the hell out of. Oh and I forgot I had yet another couple ways to play it, that Ms. Pac-Man Plug N Play (it needs a new battery in it), and Namco Museum Mega Mix on the Wii. I just love Mappy is all.

I always look for a video like this about Mappy, I'm not disappointed what I watched here. Overall great video :) Mappy is one of those classic franchises by Namco where it did receive success in Japan, but unfortunately suffers obscurity outside of Japan. Lot of people always talk about how Klonoa and Earthbound doesn't receive much love compared to other popular game franchises, but Mappy suffers the worst compared to both these franchises combined. Even to this day, Mappy still didn't get much love outside of Japan and hasn't got a new major sequel for years. Mappy gain cult following over the years and I'm one of em, but it's still not as big cult following fanbase like Q-Bert and Klonoa for example. Gaming community as a whole has quite a long way to go to give Mappy a lot of attention, love and support the franchise needs. I love the Mappy series. The original Mappy, Hopping Mappy, Mappy-Land, Mappy Kids, and Mappy Arrangement are really great games and are my all-time favorite games. Hopefully this little police mouse gets more recognition someday and Namco revives this franchise and do more with it. I really wish that happens one day. Such a really great game series doesn't deserve to be ignored this way. So overall, I really enjoy this video. Thanks for giving the Mappy games the love and attention here with really cool info and documentation. I'll definitely subscribe

@retrofan4963
@retrofan4963 4 ай бұрын
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries Yeah, we haven't a new proper Mappy sequel for years. It would be really cool if Namco made a new Mappy 3D platformer like how they did with Pacman in Pacman World. It would also be really cool they also make a new Mappy game that expands and added more modernized twists of the original Mappy Arcade game formula like what they did with Mappy-Land and Mappy Arrangement. Heck, they can even make a new Arrangement version of Hopping Mappy since that hasn't gotten a Arrangement version.

This is my favorite Namco arcade game. Ive never played in on an authentic cabinet but would love to. Another excellent video. I have always enjoyed Mappy. My first home experience was via a bootleg multi-cart with the Famicom to NES cartridge adapter that I found at a thrift store. Obviously, there is no comparing the Famicom version to the arcade, but there is one detail that I have noticed. That has to do with the bonus stage. First and foremost, both versions leave you with zero room for error. One wrong bounce into a wall and you are done. But the difference I am talking about is how you collect the Goro balloon at the end. The arcade version requires you to get the final red balloon, break the trampoline so you fall, and grab the balloon. As for the Famicom version, you bounce onto the Goro balloon first and it will rise up breaking the trampoline above and getting the final balloon for you.

@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I can still picture where the game was. Along the north wall. Two cabinets away was tag team wrestling. You versus The Mad Maulers. It was a great time to be a teenager in the 1980s. The arcades were my favorite place to hang out

You ever see Crime Busters by Players for the ZX Spectrum? Single screen but definitely “influenced” by Mappy. There are multiple types of enemy but the best feature was player two can play as an enemy. Anyway, the basic gameplay of Mappy with the trampolines and items is there except you’re a robber doing the stealing. It was a great little budget game from the late 80’s.

Brings back memories from my 10-11 year old self. Only remember seeing Mappy in one arcade, which was on a boardwalk. IIRC that was the same arcade that had Donkey Kong III (with the bug spray and the bees) (again, the ONLY place I remember seeing that too). This arcade also had Sinistar (talk about scaring the @&#% out of you when that character talked!) and I remember playing that there too but I think I saw Sinistar elsewhere (but not as much as it should’ve been).

Awesome vid , I be honest in the early 90's we got a NES version in a large scale and Sega genesis came in to South Africa around about that time , I had Mappy on my 8 bit cartridge I didn't know there was an arcade version out ,I never saw it in arcade but still it was still a pretty little game , I enjoyed it on my famicom.
