While I can respect IOSYS for the things they've brought to Internet culture, I also think it's not fair to only remember them for the silly songs they've made. While they composed the majority of their albums, IOSYS also composed some good, serious songs. My favourite probably being: "Retrospective Sapporo". Some of the "PUNK IT!" albums also improved on the originals a lot. Though sometimes I can find the memes irritating at times but that's mainly due to overexposure to them more than anything, since they're often an entryway for new people in the Touhou community. I think the reason why people remember IOSYS more for their silly songs is mainly because they're the more well-known nowadays and other doujin circles tend to also take the serious spot more easily, though when it comes to Flash/Online videos, there are also some well-known groups that are on-par with IOSYS, such as Innocent Key, COOL&CREATE and the like. Would I classify them as awesome...well, both yes and no. I like listening to their songs from time to time but that definitely gets old after a certain time. Also, small correction about Chirumiru. It was made by Conagusuri, not IOSYS. The confusion might come from the creator of the promotional video being Locker Room Production, the same people who made Usatei and Marisa stole the Precious Thing.
@TheRockMouse2 жыл бұрын
I would agree, and add that I think for something as 'complete' sounding as 'THE HISTORY' of IOSYS, 5 minutes barely skims the surface of their work. And if anything, paints over many of their important contributions with the 'flashier' ones. Whether it be the videos, their Touhou albums, or even their non-Touhou contributions (They released music on official arrangement albums for Persona 4 as just a little example).
@metablase68372 жыл бұрын
Really though, Pray is probably one of my favourite songs. And their jazzrock albums are pretty damn good. If there's one thing I love about IOSYS it's the massive diversity which makes me disagree with it getting old after a certain time.

EEOSYS is still one of my favorite circles. I bet they have a lot of fun writing their stuff. Imo two of their best songs are Star River (Cosmic Mind remix, is not exactly a sad song but it always makes me teary) and I'm very Rotten (Rigid Paradise remix, it's pure craziness). But if we're going to talk about IOSYS I need to mention the instrumental metal/hard rock albums by minami. If Demetori and xi-on didn't exist those would be my absolute favorite touhou metal remixes of all time. Super good stuff. Oh btw, their discography is available in spotify

I think the thing that takes be back a bit is how they also tried stretching out from Touhou into doing other things. Like I'm pretty sure for whatever thing has any sembelance of popularity they have done something with it. From an F.O.E. song relating to Etrian Odyssey to even composing with Houshou Marine from Hololive, which the latter one is pretty funny in how she's a pretty big fan of Touhou.

IOSYS was a militant Salafist jihadist group that aimed to establish an Islamic state in Sunni, Arab-majority areas of Iraq during the Iraq War and later in Syria during the Syrian Civil War. IOSYS traces its origins to Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad, which was formed by the Jordanian national Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Jordan in 1999. Al-Zarqawi led the group, under numerous name changes, until his death in June 2006. Jama'at participated in the Iraqi insurgency (2003-2011) following the 2003 invasion of Iraq by Western forces, and on 17 October 2004 al-Zarqawi had pledged allegiance to Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network; and the group became known as Tanzim Qaidat al-Jihad fi Bilad al-Rafidayn (commonly known as al-Qaeda in Iraq). In January 2006, Tanzim and five other Iraqi insurgent groups formed the Mujahideen Shura Council, which on 15 October 2006 merged to form IOSYS. At their height in 2006-2008, ISI had military units or strongholds in Mosul and in the governorates of Baghdad, Al Anbar and Diyala, and they claimed Baqubah as their capital. The area under its control decreased dramatically following the 2007 troop surge, during which dozens of IOSYS leaders were killed by coalition forces.
