Metra 215 made its failure for operation lifesaver was wrong with its mechanical failure and it’s gonna be a battery power engine

Thanks for the information on the Metra engine! Too bad this happened to it but hopefully a museum takes it. The engines now are just so boring and new, hopefully Metra makes an engine into a remembrance for these old engines.

I hope the Metra 215 Engine will be sent to the Illinois Railway Museum someday because not only would it be perfect for the other events like Diesel Days and the Happy Holiday Railway but it can also be used to push and pull Thomas The Tank Engine or Percy during the Day Out With Thomas.

I've always felt bad for 215's fate. Especially since the F40PHs are 30-40+ years old and still run to this day.

I have a theory. If y’all are familiar with the metra battery locomotive stuff by now, then I think 215 will probably make a suitable candidate for the project! The reason is because these new technologies are rumored to be put on F40PHs (why am I not surprised) and I think this may be a good comeback!

Also some people outside of Chicago complain that metra should get new locomotives like the Siemens sc-44/alc-42 and the EMD F125 but metra barely has money to buy a single charger locomotive and the EMD F125 had so many issues that metrolink had to bring back their old f59ph and f59phi in order to continue service
