While Greece has a long and ancient history, its current modern state can be traced to the 19th century after winning independence from the Ottoman Empire.

The one thing i'd say would improve this is if you added the prime ministers, since they were very important in how the country was actually run. I understand that that would be a lot of work since there were many changes in prime ministers, especially in times of instability, but you can't really get an accurate view of greek history without seeing names like Venizelos or Trikoupis or Papandreou etc. Also ik it was like 1 second but in 1917 there should be somewhat of a distinction between the royalist south official government and the pro-allied venizelist government of national defence in macedonia cheers man

@@brandon8214 Well, that may be true as far as it goes, but I still don't like it if it happens haphazardly. For one, using "blood and soil" arguments are very dangerous if you give them too much weight, as that is literally Nazi logic. They can play some role in decision making, but they can never be a casus belli in their own right. Additionally, even if history and ethnicity of certain regions played a part, it only played second fiddle to who won battles against who, rather than some objective international arbitration. And finally, though I'm glad for the people who go from persecuted minority to autonomous majority, now the former majority is immediately vulnerable as they are now a minority with little protection.

We was what a we call a Philhellene , a lover of Greece. He died 10 days after getting out the boat, sickness got him before he saw a Turkish soldier. But at least he tried , letting family and friends for this cause. And I feel a bit proud of it even it didn’t worked. Long live Greece 🇬🇷

Great video but please note that Greece is a parliamentary democracy, and it is governed by the prime minister not the president. The head of the state was the King (when there was one) and later was replaced by the president. The head of the government is the prime minister and the president is mainly symbolic. So, it would be more useful if you had the prime minister and the king or president.

I am from “North Epirus” originally from Saranda close to Corfu and we don’t want to be a part of Greece. Apart from some Greek villages near Gjirokastra, no one else wants to join Greece. My grandma knew some Greek when she was younger and she is Orthodox too and even she doesn’t want to be a part of Greece. Our whole village is Orthodox and no one wants to join Greece hell you can say that for most villages in North Epirus so I think you should talk less bullshit since you’re not from there and don’t know anything about what it’s like to live there. I have distant relatives who are from Greek villages there and they all serve Albania because that’s where they grew up and no one is discriminating them. The villages there have both Greek and Albanians road signs. The Albanians who lived in South Epirus before Greece kicked them out in ww2 had none of this freedom that Greeks here have. During communism Greeks were treated nicer than most ordinary Albanians and we accepted many Greek refugee families from the Greek civil war, including my village there was a Greek family there who everyone loved while Greece still doesn’t want our people to immigrate there while Greeks were welcomed here the whole time.

@@frenkli9815 you're saying lies and you know that. Hoxha exterminated the Greeks. And Albania never kept true to the protocol of Corfu.
