i have a lot of great memories playing the original mortal kombat, both in the arcade and snes version my most memorable moment was performing the fatality move for the first time. good times.

Fantastic video again Pat, always look forward to your uploads. Only a couple of extra things I'd have like to have seen in the video was a mention of the series Mortal Kombat conquest and a video showing the game running under Mame to show the state of the emulation. Quality stuff yet again mate 👍

I should have mentioned conquest, good call. All three of the Mortal Kombat games run great under Mame and they have for quite a few years

Will watch this again. Also one film you forgot to mention was Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge. It was an animated film. Highly recommend and I find it much enjoyable then the 2021 film which I didn't like at all..

I remember feeling so special to have the PC version of this game. It really was close to arcade perfect as I’ve seen in a port. And with all that glorious blood. Lots of fun with a Gravis Gamepad.

Yes, the PC version was ported over line by line from the arcade game which is why it is so close. I had a Gravis as well and it controls pretty well

The SNES port was...It just was and it probably shouldn't have been. It deserved to be better. I remember playing the arcade version and was incredibly hyped to finally get to be able to play this at home. I think I knew that they suppressed the blood and changed some of the fatalities. I actually didn't even notice that they weren't called Fatalities in the game until watching this video. Anyway, I loved MK, but I remember wrestling with the controls of this game. You had to press down on the controls for far longer than you would think in order for it to register. This made this game have an additional learning curve to learn the weird input delay and be able to play with it. Either way, young teenage me loved finally having a home version of this game that I could play and regardless of its limitations, I still loved this game.

Could render out the project in 5 min sections. Then import all the rendered out sections into a new project, edit them together and render out the final. I used to do that years ago when producing music on an under powered PC. Renders would sometimes skip halfway in.

0:34 My experience was playing Xena on an emulator. Not sure what your thoughts on it are but it was a pretty solid game. The Master System game even with the bad frame rate is an amazing achievement as well, only bettered by the sequel port.

Always appreciated the easy Pit fatality bitd, was a nice easy one for players not yet good at doing the complex ones, kind of wish they would done that in MK2. Yes Night Trap the Full House of horror films lol, even for the time those senators were out of touch and obviously hadn't been to the movies in decades. :P It's not the first time something takes off and then "What, we never promised anymore money?" happens. ;) I still think Pesina should have won that case as film actors have strong fees for their likenesses when it comes to licensing. The MK actors were a strong live promotion aspect and still are but Midway seemed to distance from that more and more especially after MK3. :\ The MK1 P&P is a demonstration of "You get what you pay for.", $20, maybe $40 or $50 could have made it a lot better lol. I tried the mini-cabs in the store and they are pretty good, only thing is you'll want to anchor them since they are small enough to wobble. Those were some pretty goofy "finishing moves" on the SNES. XD I played the heck out of the Genesis one but the DOS one was really good and was the first disk based game I ever bought, actually had to bum PC time from my buddy to use it heh. The SCD one is a lot more fully featured than I realized bitd, I passed over it since I had the cart version and was too busy renting other SCD titles. Either way Sega had controls on par with the arcades. I'd say MK1 was probably the best case scenario for 8-bit porting so too bad the GG, GB, and SMS versions weren't ported better since it only got harder with the sequels.

I think Daniel got really screwed in the deal. He comes across as such a nice guy when speaking to him as well. I thought they handheld PnP was pretty good for $20. That PC versions of one , Mortal Kombat 2 And wrestlemania were absolutely perfect aside from the only average music thanks to the floppy disk format. I sure played the heck out of them Though because they were so accurate
