Ughhh. I used to love Cornette but to me he became real biased. I feel like whenever someone covers wrestling there always has to be “the good fed” and the “bad fed”. When both are doing good things, what’s wrong with acknowledging it??? Blind hating on something I can find funny, even if I don’t agree w you… but blind love is annoying! And ever since AEW came round all of a sudden WWE magically became the perfect show 😡 Ha ha Undercover cops! Or as they say in the game MISHICOPS!

Folks looking to play this with the quality of the arcade original should know that the Irem m92 board this was based on has been fully analyzed & converted to FPGA and is now available on MiSTer FPGA, along with all the other great games on that board like "In The Hunt". This just happened earlier this year actually, thanks to the tireless work of developer wickerwaka. This gem is an important one to have preserved properly; one of the greatest beat 'em ups ever!

Hey Pat, Dave Cook here - writer and co-creator of the Ninja Baseball Spirits comic reboot. I wanted to say thanks for featuring the game and comic - I first found out about the game through AVGN and worked for the publisher of Retro Gamer magazine at the time (around 2010) which is how I first met Drew. We remained in touch ever since as I wanted to help let more people know about the game. Eventually I moved from game journalism into comics and after working with artist Steve Gregson, we both decided to pitch Drew the idea for Ninja Baseball Spirits and he has been such a great collaborator throughout the whole project. Issue #2 of 5 hits Kickstarter later in 2023, so be sure to keep an eye out. Thanks again for covering this game, it’s seriously one of my favourite beat ‘em ups ever :D

Could you maybe elaborate on what you’re talking about in more detail? I’ve been running RetroPie for many years and FPGAs intrigue me, but they’re perpetually sold out and not really clear on what all you would need to build an equivalent to the Pi. If you have any links or anything like that, that would be super cool of you. Thanks!

This game is a top 5 arcade game for me. Every element that makes a game great is here. I was lucky enough to play this in a real arcade. I saw pics of Victory Pointe arcade in Pittsburgh and from there, I noticed they had the PCB of this. When I visited the arcade in April '23 it wasn't hooked up, but I asked if they still had it. Then the owner/operator was so cool to hook it up for me! A beautiful experience! I was as excited to see the PCB as I was to play the game! @@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I plan to always visit that arcade when I'm in Pittsburgh. Another Taito game I thought of you can cover is PuLiRuLa...I discovered this game by accident on MAME. Over a Christmas vacation when I had a ton of spare time, I went through the entire MAME catalog and favorited every playable game. I'm sure you came across it. It's a beat em up, but cute....like how we have Cute 'Em Ups....I'd consider PuLiRuLa a Sweet 'em Up...is that even a genre?

The Bat Men has the same attributes which the TMNT has in their SNES and Genesis games: Jose is based on Leonardo: Cuz is well-balanced. Ryno is based on Raphael: Cuz has a short range/reach but is the fastest of the team (Like Raph in TMNT SNES and Genesis games) Roger is based on Michaelangelo: Cuz he is the strongest, but he is slow (Like Mike in TMNT SNES and Genesis games) Straw is based on Donatello: Cuz he has a long range/reach but he the slowest of the team (Like Don in TMNT SNES and Genesis games) 10:29 Obiously😏

The more I've thought about it in the past, ninja and baseball go well together. Swinging a bat like you swing a sword, skillfully throwing a ball like you throw a Shuriken, you gotta run fast and jump high, and you wear form-fitting but flexibly unforms. This also reminds me of the early 80s Super Sentai tv series Dynaman, which had baseball themed suits and a ninja team member Dyna Black.

It was difficult to find a game that got more insane than this one... until I discovered the shrooms mixed with LSD fueled insanity that is "Space Invaders '95". HOLY HELL that one just pushed insanity to a level I had never seen before. Even today, I don't think I've ever seen anything that was anywhere near the level of insanity that that game threw at you. There wasn't an element in that game that didn't just... boggle my mind. After you finish playing that game, you'll feel like you just came down from a crazy acid trip.

I still remember the first time I played this game years ago was on Mame in much the same way. I was looking for titles with odd or standout names and when I saw Ninja Baseball Bat Man in the list I fell for it thinking it was a Batman arcade game I had somehow missed out on similar to Batman Forever. My initial thought was the game is very well done, polished, with colorful and flashy graphics but at the time I quit after the 1st level. Fast forward the clock and I totally forgot about the game all over again until your video reminded me lol. I can understand why Irem was upset over sales but come on, they still could have put the producer/designer in the credits instead of being petty. 😃

I agree, it's really petty that they took him out of the credits. I never saw a Batman forever arcade game either until we went to galloping ghost a couple of years ago.

I found out about this game, the judge dread prototype, and a bunch of other games in 2005 through a modded xbox. I loved this one genuinely, and judge dread due to how silly it was.

I'd be stoked if this comes to one of the 5 Irem Collection volumes coming to modern consoles over the course of the next year. They've only announced the games for the first 2 volumes, but the "hint" for volume 3 (according to one of its listings on Strictly Limited Games site) is "Get ready to fight!" Here's to hoping.

Awesome video !!!! I bought the game for my iiRcade in the very last days before the company went under . But there is a new way to add alm kinds of games to the iiRcade now and a new arcade control panel coming out for it next month that includes a track ball and spinners and you can use light guns with it . The company may be dead but the iiRcade units have gotten way better with the modding community in a very short time .
