Really great video! Not much is known or studied about the Iraqi Fedayeen, and this was very informative. I did notice however that two points in your video were incorrect. 1 - The Fedayeen helmet was not made of a kevlar material, but rather a hard plastic. The exact composition is not entirely known, though I believe it is actually a polyethylene fibrous material. As you mentioned, this offers little to no ballistic protection. 2 - Although some Fedayeen insignia's were removed, not all countries required this. The UK was the only union of countries which required Fedayeen Insignia's to be removed. With this, although Fedayeen helmets are extremely hard to find, most US captured helmets are complete with their insignia. Thanks for posting your video! It was fantastic!! BSR Militaria

From what I know, the Darth Vader helm has the same materials as the later variants of the Iraqi M80 helmet, which is corlon. Had South Korea not embargo their steel shipping to Iraq, all M80s and Darth Vader helms would be made of steel.

The design of the hands on the crossed swords were made from molds of Saddam Hussein's own hands and scaled up to the massive size for the monument. On the ground below the crossed swords were the helmets of defeated Iranian soldiers. The Iraqi military would march over these helmets to show their superiority over their enemies by stepping on their "heads". At the beginning of this video a photo of the helmets near the base of the monuments forearms cascading down to the ground. Quite a sight to see in person when I was there 2005-2013.

I find it funny how Darth Vader's helmet is an over exaggeration of the stahlhelm. Yet the Iraqi one has no visor to protect the front from falling debris.

I had no idea that the story behind this helmet was so crazy. Going into this I thought that I would just hear you say something like "Yeah, Saddam wanted a helmet for X reason, so he went to Y manufacturing facility, but what they could do was limited to do Z, so Saddam ended up getting this helmet.". I had no idea that Saddam's regime was running on pure memes.

I used to have one of these when I was younger. My step dad brought it back as a gift from one of his deployments. I haven't seen it in quite a few years

The pictures of the marines wearing these helmets with their woobies tied around their necks like a cape are hilarious.

If saddam is still alive and ruled iraq, their might be no isis and alqaeda in the region.
Awesome! I didn't had the slightest idea about the mere existance of that helmets!

It doesnt seem like it would be too terrible balistically if it were made of a better material. Reminds me a bit of the swiss "stalhelms"

Thank you for that report. But a small correction, those ( fedayeen ) in white uniform are assigned for the suicidal missions or operations not as the black uniforms who are basic infantry units. Most of them were convicted.
