For Canada, the 1993 “25th Anniversary of Mazda in Canada” limited edition had the bespoke “floating wing” which is the prettiest wing ever affixed to a Miata, made for Mazda Canada by a company in Quebec. There were only 300 LEs, not 500, with 150 with and 150 without the detachable hard top. US-market cars had the front air dam, rear skirt, and rear lip spoiler, whereas Canadian-market cars only came with the floating wing.

I'm sure I will become an excellent student if my professor can come up with this kind of animation and explanation during his lecture. Superb content. The music is perfect, it's unobtrusive but I know it's there to fill in and your voice is clear in explaining things. Love it.

Man, your videos (on the History of the NA and this one) are sooooooo much interesting (I don't have the necessary amount of "o" on my computer to make you understand my feeling). Hope you will be able to do the same for the story of the NB and all special editions too with the same "On board" that was so beautiful to watch and learn from XD

I love the graphics in the video. I’m amazed that Mazda made so many special editions. I have a ‘94 M edition. I bought it used and the tan leather had already deteriorated beyond repair. My choice is to either find used ones (which are usually in bad condition too) or spend big bucks getting them recovered.

Amazing video. G Limited actually has all the performance parts of the S and R, like torsion LSD, bilstins but then G only items like alcantara seats, lightest wheels made for an mx5 (by Enkle) and the color actually changes like a chameleon. Blue to purple, so blurple. I love my one
@AveragetoPoor
@AveragetoPoor 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the extra information! It's awesome to hear you own such an awesome special edition, I'm a big fan of the G-Limited too, and the colour changing paint is really interesting to hear about. I did want to mention the lightweight hollow wheels in the video however in the interest of keeping the narrative flowing I opted to cut it from the final draft of the script. It was a similar case with the Torsen LSD. However from my research I couldn't find any evidence that the Bilstein dampers were offered as standard on the G-Limited, I thought they were simply a popular optional extra offered on the variant.

Very well done and also very well researched! I've got a decent amount of knowledge in the special editons NAs sold in Austria and Germany but you got them all correct. I drive a 1995 Yellow Edition of which only 99 models were sold in Austria. They had special "Suede" seats which is basically Alcantara. The difference in the 90BHP 1.6 and the original 115BHP engine is just camshaft and slightly shorter pistons, reducing the compression by a small margin. Due to the difference in camshaft timings it has more torque in the low and mid rev range but less max power. A very common mod is to simply put camshafts from the 115HP engine in to get about 10 to 15 HP back from the detune. You can run this on the stock ECU without issues.

@AveragetoPoor
@AveragetoPoor 4 жыл бұрын
They certainly do have some drawbacks in terms of using as a daily driver. The small size, the noisy cabin and the fabric hoods which always end up leaking at least a little at some point or another. However the fun of ownership is well worth these drawbacks if you can get away with having them. Best of luck for your car hunt!

Could you do a video on the history of the Lexus LS? It’s interesting to note that Lexus and the Miata are the same age, both released in 1989 and probably had been doing road tests at the same time. And the LS also had infighting from corporate wanting a more Japanese traditional luxury car compared to American and European luxury styles.

The 1991 Canadian market BRG was designated (in its brochure) as a Limited Edition instead of a Special Edition. Strangely, Mazda never disclosed how many were manufactured and did not provide owners with their car's production number. Imagine that!
