I never liked the inclusion of Jennika. It doesn't matter how much you tried to push her as part of the team, she did not fit. Maybe you would have had something if she was just a mutant turtle that was an ally but that "5th turtle older sister" thing was not it. I sincerely hope we never see her character again in any other media. Venus De Milo is a different case though. Again, not advocating for a 5th turtle but as a supporting character like April or Casey sure.

Yeah, the inclusion of Venus in IDW didn't seem nearly as egregious as Jennika. It could be because she wasn't technically a real turtle or because she wasn't pushed as the main character. Either way, Venus was handled a lot better.

She was a younger mutant turtle with strange mystical powers. The only thing Sophie/Ross was suited for was character design (LOVE his Alopex and Sally Pride redesigns. Santolouco made Alopex look like a werewolf instead of a fox, and Sally's a LION. Her build is supposed to be huge and jacked, like Ross drew her). When he started writing as well as doing art, you'll notice the turtles took on the mannerisms of low-confidence GIRLS instead of the boisterous, high testosterone males they are. Especially Michelangelo and post-Kitsune Leonardo.: Looking down with the hand on the back of the neck, or doing that stereotype "insecure girl pose" of looking down/away with one hand gripping the middle of the opposite arm...males simply don't DO that. Those poses radiate weakness and vulnerability IN WOMEN and it's not even instinctive for men to have that body language...unless they're men trying to pass as women.

It's funny how progressive writers say, "We support queer people!" But when they write "gay" characters, it's always a lesbian this, lesbian that. Barely any gay dudes. Even if they write a gay dude, they make them way too stereotypical or forgettable by being a blank/support character for the lesbian. Worst part, they even try to gaslighting, justify, and normalize the toxic/abusive relationships lesbian couples have. Also, their general writing style is basically turning everything into a "Slice of life" just to slowly turn it into a political thing. They can't even properly write a Slice of Life story. Since they butcher by normalizing toxic and dirty environments as "good" and "ego friendly," Like... how does living like trash be good or eco-friendly? They don't even want to write proper struggle neither, everything has to be perfect. And don't get me started with their self-insert/OC being put into popular media. Jason Aaron, I have mixed feelings over. He's the reason Frank Castle's The Punisher is no longer part of the Marvel Universe because his wife was resurrected by "The Hand" Ninja Clan and took all his money and divorced him which forced him to go to "Weird-World" (I can't make this shit up) It was the highest form of character assassination all because the wokie's hated that Cops were using his Logo. #150 Ending is really a dumpster fire. The turtles are even less likeable than before. I mean seriously? The others stopped trying to save Donnie and everyone went on vacation? Why cann't we have a scene like about Leo trying to find Donnie throught his astral skill, and April and Mikey also try to help Leo by combining their magic powers or something! Not even four brothers actually involved this story. Except for Evil Bob, this is actually about Mary Sue Venus saving everything. I'm really tired of that the writers always have the turtles forced into a vicious cycle of "quarrel, separation, and reunion" because the plot-first writing. The turtles actually have no real character development.

I disagree with you on two things. Armageddon Game wasn’t good at all. It was way too long and nothing happened for the first 18 issues/tie ins. Krang died after an awesome build up that went nowhere. Very typical of Tom Waltz. Also the last 10 issues of idw tmnt volume sucked as well. There was only one storyline that I liked since 100. The punk frogs/dr Barlow story. I like Barlow, I thought the creepy story was nice and from what I’ve seen I think Campbell had someone help or ghost write the comics after awhile. Things kind of changed at some point and the writing didn’t feel the same. I’d have to go back and reread them to see when they changed but after the past 4 years it’s gonna be some time before I go back and reread this crap.

Also can't help but wonder if Jennika was a self-insert, and therefore Jennika is trans. She already 'tranned' into a turtle from a human. He was a terrible writer, and I'm glad he's done. This permanetly makes Jennika a unlikeable character...forcing her in without any kind of classic name like 'Venus de Milo' was bad enough as it is. Why was Jennika okay but Venus wasn't? Watching this video, I kept thinking of ALL the ways to do what Sophie is (not) TRYING to do, but with competancy. However, it doesn’t matter what I think, because to Sophie, her mission is to ruin the childhoods of other. Sophie is an example of an Anti-fan given control of something that she clearly doesn’t like. Her fan comic wasn’t made to respect TMNT and neither was making Jenna a turtle, it was made for HER to enjoy. To be blunt, if you feel the need to change TMNT so you can enjoy it more, perhaps consider you DON'T actually like the Turtles that much. Jenna is nothing more than her gender and sexuality, and the allegories are so blatant and poorly done, that it feels like a teenager whose parents "don't understand them" wrote it. Campbell is an ADULT and should act like one, not a highschool bully trying to ruin the fun for their favourite targets

I call at the bi clause. It's the weird scummy lawyer speak to try to get around History of continuity showing a character not being gay. All it is is a wedge because at the end of the day once they go bi, they'll stay the gay option because the gay option is the Diversity box. And the only way they try to argue is either well. Nothing said they weren't bi Which is not an argument. Are the worst one oh they have been in denial for all these years. No. And pointing to the very very few cases in actual reality does not change that

I like her run, the IDW TMNT ongoing series has been my favorite comic book series, for over a decade, now.

Someone who actually worked in IDW quit working for them for a couple of reasons. The first is that they don't pay well at all, second, that all they have as writing is basically Google Fan Fiction and Trans Fantasies. That is how they messed up Transformers, and TMNTs. Now we have this person that delighted in ruining the comics of a franchise, but nothing is worse than one of the original creators allowing these stories to take place, back when he used to hate the 80s cartoon and even the atrocious live action series, the Next Mutation. The only BS I find dumb on this video is the complain of "People of Color", which makes no damned sense to be complaining about. The fact of April being a "Bi-Racial" character stems from the different origins original creators of the TMNTs had for her. One would illustrate April as being half Native American or Black, and the other as a Redhead. That is well documented and people still talk stupid crap about it to this day. In any case, the TMNTs in IDW were reincarnations Japanese kids along their father Hamato Yoshi, so...

Also calling the writer a “transformer” and “man in disguise” is a bit out of pocket. But I’m guessing that when I Star getting the complete volumes that I should stop at 100 and skip the 50 after that then start on the new number 1 if that turn out good.

I agree the 'transformer' stuff was outta pocket as is posting a pic of the person pre-trans in the thumbnail. If anything that might be the main reason Campbell might try to have the video taken down. I also disagree with complaining about the Turtles sulking for half a year after Splinter died. Dude, their father died. Their loving father that raised and fought alongside them for over 100 issues. They can't just ignore that and go back into action the following week. Grieving takes time. Especially since despite all their friends and whatnot, Splinter was their only Day One family. They don't have uncles, grandparents, cousins, not even godparents. Splinter was it. I did stop reading til the Armageddon Game and the post 100 comic sales were so bad, one of my smaller comic shops stopped selling the main line, just the Street Fighter/Power Rangers crossovers. I'm glad that run is over, it bugs me that there people even thought this was the end of the entire run. Thank goodness there's a reboot, soft or otherwise.

It doesn't matter whether they were going by their previous identity or not; it is considered _extremely_ disrespectful and harmful to deadname a trans person. That's why Sophie Campbell is called Sophie Campbell in the wiki entries.
