Sad as it is, each reborn iteration almost has to be either decommissioned or die in battle. Otherwise, how shall the name and the spirit it represents be passed down through history. Constitution is the first and last of her name. Enterprise will always be the first to fight and never may there be a last of her. This generation CVN-80 the supercarrier. Next who knows, maybe CVH-66 the first Avengers Helicarrier? Then BS-65 Humanity's first Battlestar? May freedom always be defended by an Enterprise until the heat death of the universe.

Been to a few like the New Jersey and I think a destroyer and cruiser. Only foreign ship I ever got to go on was the U 505, the only German U Boat in the US. It was pretty damn cool lol. CVN-65 was decommissioned years ago. They cut off her island all the way back in 2017. (Edit: yes, the dismantling hasn't started yet, but according to a Senior Chief I met who was aboard, they had to cut the island off so she could fit under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Baltimore Harbor for the removal of certain components. She's just an empty husk.)

@@Nmille98 - But CVN-80 is about 20% or more complete now. She had two Keel Laying Ceremonies, because she is taking shape so fast, that they had to have it weeks ahead of time and then do a second one for all the officials who they could assemble. That was about the Summer of 2022. China should be wary. Very very wary. Putin is afraid. Probably why he wants Ukraine is to be able to build large ships again. Ukraine was the source of most of Russia's large maritime engines and the best shipyards in the Empire and Soviet periods. But now, Enterprise is going to be finished again sooner. Better than before. And ready. I suspect she'll be in the Fleet by 18 months ahead of schedule. After all, she was way ahead of when her Keel should have been built. With Portholes from CV-6 and steel from CVN-65, she will be the basis of a future Guardian. Under whose wings, Free People can take solace. And she will always meet any threat... Midway.

@@alexhndr Star Trek has tainted(is there a better word for this? a less intrinsically negative one?) the meaning of the name Enterprise when applied to starships, and in a way I think that these two separate Legacies never need to clash, I doubt that wet-water navies will never become completely obsolete, so there will always be a place for an Enterprise in the US Navy as long as there is a USA with a navy.

I am fighting tears as I type this comment. That ending struck me like a bolt of lightning. I grew up watching Battle 360 with my father, where I fell in love with the story of CV(N)-6. I then learned to love and respect the history of all US Warships that had borne that name, to include CVN-65. You have done such an incredible job at honoring the history of the name Enterprise, and it only serves to further grow the love I have for that name. The US Marines Hymn states that they are "The first to fight for right and freedom." As a US Marine I am not ashamed to admit this is wrong. Enterprise is the first. Always has been, always will be. two sloops, two schooners, a patrol craft, and when CVN-80 is commissioned, three aircraft carriers will have borne the name. Before there was a US Marine Corps, there was a USS Enterprise, ready to fight for any man and woman who wished to be free. To speak further on the future of Enterprise, CVN-80 is actively being built using scrap from CVN-65, with about 20,000 pounds of her steel being used as of August 2022, and will incorporate four portholes (windows) from the Grey Ghost herself. With that being said, perhaps it was for the best that the Big E was not turned into a museum. If you keep an old guard dog chained down, it will feel the urge to bite again someday. Quite frankly, that is a fate I would wish upon no man that lives today. We are legend; the first, the finest; eight reactors, none faster. The Big E.

As a decendant of one of Lexington’s crew, the line at 1:11:00 hits me the hardest. My great-grandpa may not have been a pilot, but I’d like to think he wished he was, so that he could join the assault and avenge Lady Lex.

The ending got to me, not going to lie. My mother was a United States Marine from 1999 to 2002, serving as a driver in a Logistical unit since women still weren't direct combatants as this time. And on September 11th, she was stationed out of Quantico when the Pentagon was struck, and she assisted in the relief efforts in the following days. If it wasn't for family emergencies in 2002, it was likely she would have remained in the Corps, perhaps even have gone overseas to the ME, non combatant or not every marine is a rifleman, and she would have possibly found herself in a fight. I love this story you've put out Pacman. And little stories like these is why Historians like ourselves should remain proud. From the mechanics who kept Enterprise afloat, the bomber pilot who emptied a clip of .45 into the superstructure of Yamato, the crew of the 15in of HMS Hood who gave one final shot before the plunge, the seabies who repaired captured Japanese airfields and ATC Crew scrambling to un-fuck a mess of Avengers, Dauntless', and Wildcats trying to rearm, to a German ace of aces who musically flipped the bird to a man responsible for untold horrors. To a young Marine delivering as much bottles of water as her truck could haul to the firefighters working through the rubble of the Pentagon. It's why you make these videos, it's why I'm saving up money to get back into College for a history degree. Because these stories need to be known. Thank you Pacman, to many more amazing documentaries.

Therefore, to safely deactivate her, and future Carriers, they had to scrap her. The good news is that a new Interchangeable Nuclear Core has been developed. It might be possible to insert it into CVN-80 as a last-minute change or alteration. Though, to be honest, I doubt it. But the next Enterprise might get it. That's a thought. Sadly, we won't be here, but just maybe, just maybe, once they figure it out with the current Nimitz-class and the data from CVN-65, the US Navy might just be able to save some of their Nuclear Carriers.

Hey man, just recently found your channel, and I'm enjoying your content overall, but this series on Enterprise is absolutely amazing. Can hardly wait for the conclusion. I'm hoping to get in contact with you in case you plan on doing a video (or videos) on the Iowa-class. My grandfather served on the New Jersey during WWII and Korea as a Navy photographer, and I have a bunch of great pictures (black-and-white prints plus a whole carousel of color slides) of New Jersey and her crew from the late 1940s & early 1950s that as far as I know have never been published or otherwise made publicly available. These include crew on duty and at leisure, life onboard, shore leave in Hawaii & Japan, as well as New Jersey sailing, firing her guns (for real), taking on supplies & ammo, hosting VIPs, rendezvousing with other naval vessels, and going through the Panama Canal. If you plan on making Iowa-class videos and are interested in these, please let me know. I would be happy to look into digitizing and sharing them.

It is honestly a tragedy. That USS Enterprise, the ship who's aviators saved many of my brothers in arms, The US Marines, as they assaulted island after island throughout the Pacific kicking ass and taking names was scraped. I'd imagine if the Corp knew who helped them take those islands was about to be scraped they'd do there best with the help of our navy brothers to raise the funds to save her from such a fate. We do so for many fund raising programs like Toys for Tots and others. But sadly I don't think such a thing came to be. And it's a shame that the government put a price tag on her. She was a one of a kind ship not some fucking rifle that could be tossed away. I salute you USS Enterprise, for keeping my brothers safe and bringing them home. And may your daughters that bare your name keep America free

What an amazing documentary about the USN Enterprise. While the design of her was a major step forward in fleet carrier design it was the Sailors and Marines who made her. The USA, the British Empire and the Dominions had a special breed of humans. They were born in the decadence of the 20's were forged by the turmoil of the 30's and then went out and saved the world. I always remember talking to WW2 vets and they always said they never did anything special. Well to me they were special. As always an excellent documentary. Keep up the great work!!

Also, the parallels between CV-6 on December 7th and the CVN-65 on September 11th. If Russia's going to attack the US, they best do it now before the commissioning of CVN-80.

What a legacy. The ship that told the world, and potentially the universe, the the name "USS Enterprise" will never be forgotten. While I'm here, I'd like to mention some ships of honor that also fought in World War II. For this list, I'm using ships that survived the war. - HMS Warspite: The Queen of the Royal Navy. Most decorated ship in the history of the RN, and when she was to suffer the fate of so many veterans, she decided to go out on her own terms. - HMAS Australia: The name-bearer and flagship. Longest serving ship of the RAN (for that time) - HMCS Haida: The fightingest ship of the RCN, and a reason to never piss off the Canadians. - ORP Błyskawica: The lightning bolt, the survivor. - HNLMS Jacob van Heemskerck: The blessed ship, according to her crew. She escaped the fall of the Netherlands and was completed in the UK. Under her care, not a single escorted ship was lost. On the side of the Axis, because your enemy can still be an honorable opponent: - Prinz Eugen: The witness and escort. You've already done a video on her. - Yukikaze: The lucky ship of the IJN. The only surviving Kagero-class destroyer - Littorio: Arguably the first of the last generation of battleships. Renamed Italia when Italy changed sides. And some honorable mentions: - Georgios Averof: The veteran. Not always in the best of shape, but showed that Greece still fought on. - HNoMS Stord: She only had a few years in the Norwegians' hands, but she fought bravely - Gremyashchy: The Soviet story of the war doesn't have a lot on the sea, but she served well and is remembered for it - BZ Bahia: Kind of breaking my own rules here, as she was lost in July 1945, but a reliable escort (I didn't find that much info on the Brazilian Navy in WWII, so if someone wants to challenge this listing please say so) - USS Nicholas (DD-449): Technically the most decorated USN ship ever, with 30 battle stars from WWII to Vietnam, but that's neither here nor there If I missed any, or if anyone wants to mention another, please do so. As for me, I'm off to watch the whole series again.

I had a great uncle that flew Helldivers and Hellcats in the Pacific who died two years ago, and I never got the chance to really tell him how much I respected and appreciated the service he and so many people put into bringing peace to Asia and the Pacific. In a way this was a beautiful way to say goodbye to that whole generation for me and was genuinely hilarious as it was beautiful. Honestly its upsetting the way I think of the first Enterprises fate. The very nation she fought to the bitter end to protect, in the end ripped her to shreds without any remorse or hesitation. This videos outro is the first video in ages where I genuenly let a tear or two drip down my face. But the 2nd enterprise carried on her legacy. Being made of the same parts and not thinking twice when her nation needed her most again. And with world war 3 looming on the horizon I have no doubt that CVN-80 will lack behind her 2 sisters. Thank you for the masterpiece youve developed over the last 2 years Pacman. God bless you

The Grey Ghost, The Big E, The Galloping Ghost, and the Lucky E. All of these nicknames to one of the greatest fighting ships in US naval history. Her squadrons scored the first full ship kill on I-70 just days after Pearl Harbor, and by war's end, her aircraft will have sunk 70 other ships, shot down over 900 aircraft, and bombed countless Japanese positions on various islands. The Japanese said she sank three times, but she came back with vengeance after every time she "sunk." Like they said, she was a Ghost, but only in name, for her squadrons would show that she was real. With 20 Battle Stars to her name, Enterprise was the most decorated ship of World War Two. From Midway to Leyte. From the Solomans to Iwo Jima and Okinawa, her aircraft were the scourge of the Japanese military for four years. Many sailors called her home. Many sailors on board her, were lost. Their sacrifices shall not be forgotten. USS Enterprise, CV-6, 2nd ship of the Yorktown class was the hero ship of the US navy. I believe it's not an exaggeration to say without her, the US could have lost the early war against Japan after the sinking of her sisters, as well as Lexington and Wasp. Enterprise's legacy will be known forever, and carried on by the latest of the namesake, USS Enterprise, CVN-80 of the Gerald Ford class. I am looking forward to seeing how her legacy continues in this video, and I know it'll be amazing.

You're trapped in here with me." You're turning out to be like Mark Felton. Showing me stuff I never knew existed. Strafing the largest battleship in history with your pistol? Fucking legend. Damn Kamikazes. Enterprise deserved to be the ship that the surrender was signed on. Maybe then, she'd have been saved. I love the Iowas but I'd have gladly traded two of them for Enterprise. It is very beautiful… was crying at the end. I am really happy that you mentioned the spirit of Her standing a long side the stutter of livery. My Grandfater was an high executive of chase bank when the attacks occurred. He survived and had to wait until three days later to get back to staton Island which is where he and my grandma live. During the night, which was when he was able to get out of the city, they passed by the statue. He then saw her. From what he told me about the night, he was in the back or stern of the fury as he watch the lights of lower Manhattan go in and out because of all the smoke. As they passed by the statue, he saw a ghostly shape of a young woman. She looked like she was hitting the ground, blaming her self for letting the plane fly into the towers. When he turned around to see if anyone else had see her, she was gone. My grandfather thought it was just the stress of what had happened and that he had been inmagating things. He was in the army crop of engineers at the very end of the war, serving in okanawa and then in the occupation of Japan for a while before retiring and had a friend who was in the Seabees who was working at the Manhattan American history museum when the attack in New York happened. Since the city was closed of, he offered fro him and his friends wife to stay at their home in staton island until they could return home. One night, grandpa asked his friend if he ever heard about a figure on liberty island and his friend said that it could have been Enterprise. Of curse he was only speculating about it since he had never saw her, but he had heard about the time she appeared during the Cuban missile crisis and said it could have been her again. He never mentioned again until I went to visit him and my grandma when I was 11. I had asked him about that day and he told me everything, including seeing Entiy. That night, I had went on a walk with my grandpa up to a point we would be able to see the statue. We just watch, listening to the ocean waves as they rolled in. When my grandfather went into a porter poty, i saw her. Just like my grandpa said she looked like, favoring the ocean, but she then turned back to the city. Still morning the loss of so many people. I do believe that ships or anything else we humans build or creat have a sole in them. And that they too feel love and hate. It is still sad to remember her and to have seen her, seeing how she looked at the city. I makes me appreciate her story even more. There is a quote from a movie that I think makes it felt here. “But I like to think that he might at last… some small measure of peace… that we all sece… and few of use.. ever find.” May the grey ghost find hers… that she rightfully deserves.

All these years later I was frantically scrolling youtube to see if I could at least find parts of said documentary because I wanted to reference it since I'm working on a story featuring the Enterprise. I couldn't find it and I'm severely starting to think if I Mandela effect'd a quote that doesn't exist but instead I found this documentary, and honestly I loved every bit of it, from the humor to the emotion you add via the storytelling. To the tie-in to her second life as CVN-65, it was a masterpiece. And I think young me would've loved the poeticness of her dismantling leading to her reincarnation as her ending as upposed to just spending like a decade and a half thinking she was just gone after getting scrapped

I want to thank you I grew up watching the battle 360 series. My grandfather told me some stories about ww2. I read an entire naval history of both ww when I was 8. I promised my grandfather around that age I'd enlist fast foward a couple years and several bad life decisions I did. He didn't get to see me enlist. I like listening to these stories because it helps keep up naval heritage. Hearing stories of grit, engnuity, bravery and cunning just stand as good andeotes. Also they are good reminders to I could be in a worse situation. I find ironic I look at admiral Halsey as a superhero and my divo's nickname is bull. The story of the destroyers charging the Japanese is my favorite story and it bears a personal attachment. They very much potentially saved my great grandfather's life. Well CVN-65 could be turned into a museum because of the 8 nuke plants on board. Not only are there too many hazardous materials there is also to much sensitive equipment that would have to be removed before it could be safe for the public to visit. Just to remove the reactors would have rendered the ship structurally unstable do sadly scrapping was the only good option.

Although Enterprise is the most decorated ship in history, we should not forget the story's and sacrifices from the crews of other ships like the Bismarck or the Zuikaku because those men aboard those ships also saw their friends and allies die, just like Enterprise the only difference is that they were ob the other side.

Pretty sure I'm not alone shedding tears at that ending. What a shameful, shortsighted decision to allow such a decorated and distinguished vessel be sold to the breakers instead of being honored alongside her sister in spirit, USS Constitution. What a shame we can't visit her hand pay our respects and gratitudes for her sacrifices and the sacrifices of the men who served aboard her. Rest easy, Grey Ghost....

am currently crying so hard right now. This is seriously the most beautiful, well put together story ever. I can’t believe how magical it was 1:12. That part truly made me shed a tear. And especially at 6:34 that part was just so truly heart touching words can not describe the series of emotions I felt. I absolutely loved the climax it had insanely excellent detail. Oh and we can’t forget the conclusion. The conclusion was the greatest and saddest conclusion I have ever seen better than any of the books I have read. Thank you so much for creating this absolute masterpiece. This is essentially the most important masterpiece of film history. It is a tragedy that this, it can’t be called a film, but a transcendent emotional experience, will be inaccessible for most. It beautifully encapsulates the human struggle to its basics; suffering, pleasure, faith, despair. It connects with the characters within the viewers, individuals suppressed within our own subconscious. It stays vibrant, fresh, and revolutionises the art of storytelling and filmmaking while making a damn of statement on what it means to be human. Entertaining, gripping, and simply exhilarating. This might be the most impactful piece of art I’ve come across in my life, and I’m definitely coming back to it in the near future to study it more deeply. this is an absolute masterpiece , I was brought to tears listening to this and seeing the bacon go whirly swirly in a circle countless times. it absolutely moved my soul , and I don't think I can ever be the same. this bacon has changed my entire mental state , I am now at peace with who I am and what I will be doing later in my life. i have forgiven all my enemies and now I am a man of a pacifist life. I will move on , gotta move on , as the song says. the bacon is so inspirational , it shares it vast wisdom with all of us , and we are all so lucky that it would bestow it's great words with us. we are all children on bacon. hail bacon. hail bacon. The spinning bacon, rotating in one direction with this music... This made me tear up. How could such a bacon do such a thing? I'm struck by awe by this masterpiece. Especially when the bacon spins, showing its lightly salt covered tan skin. I can hear the crunch just from here, and so as the beautiful sound of the bacon scraping the dark, smooth velvet floor. The flavour, music and everything can be heard, tasted, seen and felt from a screen. You can really hear the breaths between the music artist, empathising her love for this rotating bacon. Truly what I call modern art. This was the most legendary performance by any piece of bacon I have ever watched. The acting was top tier and very life changing. This is one of the greatest work from a piece of bacon I have ever seen especially on 57:42.I am currently crying so hard right now. The graphics, the animation, the music, so much thought was put into it. This has reminded me that you can do anything you put your mind to. Not even mentioning the memories, this makes me feel like an infant again, just laying my eyes on this beautiful masterpiece gives me all the good feelings in life. I cried, beat off, and also watched a movie while watching this premiere. This has made me go through so much. I passed depression because of this. It really inspired me to become an outstanding young man. Thank you.
