@Gaff.3 жыл бұрын
@@Psilocybin77 I don't think that's true. The _-or_ spelling comes from Latin, whilst the _-our_ spelling comes from Old French. The _-u_ spelling was used more until the 1600s. Then people started to advocate a return to the Latin spelling based both on etymological and phonetical grounds, whilst others starkly resisted. As there was no official standard, different people used different spellings. By the late 1700s, things were becoming more standardised as per Johnson's dictionary in Britain and then Webster's in America. Each country sort of instinctively latched onto whatever the other one wasn't doing as some form of national identity, but prior to this, many spellings were used with equal frequency in both countries. Anyway, the point is, there is no correct spelling I use the _-u_ spellings. I'm used to them. They're not wrong. Neither is the Latin spelling.

Vanquish was one of the first games I got when I finally took the dive and decided to get a PS3, and one of the only titles I ever really spent a good amount of time playing on the PS3 (I'm a PC Gamer, so outside of the odd stand-out exclusives there was little reason to use my PS3). I heard some good things about it, and it was cheap to pick it up used, so I did, and I was astounded by just how fast and fluid the game was, how good it was took me by surprise for sure. Although, now I'm older, coming back to it for the PC release a couple years ago, I do struggle to play it for long periods of times now. It's pretty intense, so playing it for an hour or so makes me feel drained now. Better in shorter bursts lol. I feel like if the campaign was longer it would overstay it's welcome anyway. While I still love the game, there is a few things in it that don't work quite as well as they should (which with the power of experience and hindsight I can now recognise), such as the weapon upgrade system (which ultimately dissuades you from actually mixing up your weapons, when the intent was probably to encourage it), which I hope if we ever do get a sequel they will address. Also yeah, the QTEs need to be thrown in the bin lol. I'm not even sure what some of the symbols mean.
