One of the most fascinating periods of history for pop culture to me is 1980s Japan and seeing the episodes covering Jump during that period really presents a lot of interesting observations. The bubble economy was in full swing and the optimism so thick it even seems to transfer to the way the manga was created, giving this kind of vibe of an eternal golden age where thing will only continue to get better. City Hunter is one of those series I've caught pieces of here and there over the years. I remember back in the late 90s, early 2000s, a friend of mine in high school would visit his cousin out in California every summer and would bring back all these fan subs of anime that hadn't gotten a wider release in America. City Hunter was one of those where he got a few VHS episodes that we watched over and over, always yearning for more. Insane to think about how many absolute classics hit over the course of only a few years.

City Hunter is another classic SJ series, alongside Fist Of The North Star that I can’t understand why they aren’t on the SJ app.
@TrentinArt6 ай бұрын
City Hunter might be due to licencing reasons though I think they should have access, then for FOTNS I have no idea since they publish physicals, maybe they view it as a more premium and sought after series so they want you to buy the hardcovers

Shun amanuma is underrated, he didn’t reach his stride yet when sumomo was released, he’s more well known for his Japanese wwii aircraft anthology manga spirit of senku, which ran from 1995-2000 and then again from 2005-2009 in Shueisha Jump Remix, and then another more modern political thriller and naval manga called sword of the sea which ran in Buisness jump from at least 2000-2004 he’s also done numerous 6 volume and one shot romance manga I haven’t check out yet. I do his stuff gets translated again i just used google because i like lots of military manga, he’s one of my favorite artists to come out of Shueisha. Otojuku looks really fun I’ve attempted to start it and had fun but never got around to committing to it i might finally start soon.

i know that you padronized the videos already, but i would love if a author already had other series, instead of the info be on the script, having some visual... From this series i think i can remember better the older mangas with the volume image than the name That minor suggestion aside, this is a fantastic series! It's like a historical record of Shonen Jump, and probably the easiest way to learn about its history. This series is definitely going to be popular with manga fans for a long time.

@@TrentinArt Thanks for responding! I was trying to suggest something about how you mention previous works by an author, i think that 13:20 is the better way to metion, compared to 8:32 and 16:27. So i thought that you could incorporate this older works under the black box you use to name the manga, if the box is a little smaller maybe you can put the photo of these older works, don't know if will be visualize pleasant but you won't even need to mention this older works since will be showing in the video.

Ahhh I see what you mean! I think something like that would be cool but I'm not sure how we'll it would come across for smaller screens like mobile users. I think in general i sometimes show old covers and sometimes don't, a big part I think is they're mostly callbacks from previous videos for those who watched them. Doing it for every msnga might be a bit complicated and muddy the flow of things but I appreciate the suggestion. I'll try make stuff like that a bit clearer from now on!

Yeahhh, recently especially I think they've been pretty lenient, that could change with big things like MHA/JJK ending if they want to try to find a new hit. But back here in the 80s they were pretty cut-throat, it makes sense though since the magazine was full of great stuff
