Here are today’s illegal actions/clarifications: 15:55 Ruby Carbuncle can actually be placed in the spell and trap zone here. Set monsters that are attacked will be face-up in the damage step when attacked, and so can trigger things that say “if this face-up card is destroyed…”. This is why cards that are the exception to this rule have to say something like “unless it was attacked while face-down and destroyed by battle” (Poison Draw Frog is a good example of this). 19:13 Same situation as before NOTE: These aren’t technically “illegal actions” that led to a broken game state because Crystal Beast’s crystallization effect is always optional. CImoooo missed so many things. For example at 30:30 he did not activate the Field Spell to cut the battle damage in half. In M2, he could have activated the Field Spell's Effect to draw a card since at that point he had 4 in the S/T zone. Even at 31:30 you don't beacon for Carbuncle. Instead you beacon for Pegasus and place your 3rd Pegasus as the 5th CB in the S/t zone. The you use Field Effect #5 to summon the Ruby from your backrow which them summons the rest. If he did that he ends up with a board full of CB's + 3 remaining in his S/T Zone. If he did that he could have used Field Effect #3 to negate the Spirit Barrier and Win that turn.

The Damage Step is made up of a series of events that are used to process an attack. There are seven of these; players often refer to them as “Sub-Steps”, which is fine, but it is not the official term for these events. 1. Start of the Damage Step 2. *Flipping the Face-Down Monster Face-Up* If the attack involves a face-down monster, *you flip it face-up here.* Continuous effects of monsters that were face-down and are now face-up immediately begin applying (like Jinzo, or the attack-boosting effect of Command Knight). FLIP effects do not activate here, unless they specify otherwise.

Not knowing that even face down ones go to the s/t zone when destroyed by battle, 0 terraforming to get the necessary field spell to hand, etc. Also playing for Hamon and Rainbow Dragon is just bad. I understand it is Jank but with CB's you play to their Field Spell. You don't remove 3 to summon a Sacred Beast, you load up the backrow since 3 gives you s/t negation, 4 gives you an extra draw, 5 lets you summon a ruby that you have in your backrow to summon/swarm with the rest.

As a Crystal Beast player since CB was released, it was very evident that Cimo had no idea how to play CBs. Crystal Blessing is never played in more than one, because it requires set up, and you can use pegasus to pick up crystals from the grave. Promise is usually played over blessing. NO ONE ever plays Hamon unless you wanted to lose since its loses you card advantage and set-up. The fact that Crystal Release was not played means you get walled by a single Cydra. And that's not even counting the number of times he forgot to draw off Ruin's effect. Tbf, crystal beasts was crap until Xyz summoning, but from 2008 standpoint, it wasnt't that bad if you were able to set up under Ruins, with the ability to swarm, negate, halve battle damage and get free draws every turn. The fact that Cimo had zero payoff in the deck is just that the deckbuild was shit, not that the deck was shit.
@jasonjanisewski783 жыл бұрын
Blessing was definitely played well at more than 1, especially depending on your build. Having Blessings was quite important in swinging a game back after a heavy storm, a judgement on your abundance, etc. It also makes a lot more cards live that otherwise might not be that turn.

By the way, Crystal Beasts technically got more support recently... in the Valiants reveal. You can use one of their field spells to summon any monster directly from the Spell/Trap Zone. Just activate the other field spell to put the one you want on the opponent's field, and replace your own with Rainbow Ruins, and you can kind of activate the 5+ effect of Rainbow Ruins every turn.
@joanaguayoplanell49123 жыл бұрын
That's just the tip of the iceberg, the new trap makes Rainbow Ruins (and the Valiant field spell as well) searchable in the deck much more easily, AND makes enabling every effect of Rainbow Ruins piss easy. BUT AFTER SEEING THIS, I HOPE TO GOD THEY NEVER EVER EVER PLAY CRYSTAL BEASTS AGAIN.

@Cimooooooo As a Crystal Beast player this HURT to watch. You sit there and complain about a deck that dont take the time to learn how to play. Crystal Release was available at this time, gives extra attack points and can add CBs to back row. Instead you're using 2 Rare Value, a card that while adding cards to hand detracts from core of Crystal Beasts play style at this time. I also think Summoner Monk was available by this period but I could be mistaken on that. Regardless Crystal Beasts at this time were BEST used with Crystal Abundance OTK. Lastly you didnt evem bother to build a side deck. Even if you added Crystal Beast Spell/Traps not in main you would be in a better position after leaning some of how the deck plays in game one. The truth is with a lot of decks in the jank series they are WORSE in your hands because you dont respect them enough to even understand how the deck is played and only focus on your limited meta knowledge. Almost unsubbed because of this episode.
@jasonjanisewski783 жыл бұрын
Rare value is fine and actually pretty good if you understand the deck since Blessing/Pegasus can return them from the grave and it speeds you towards an Abundance Win Condition, although Cimooo only playing 1 and instead playing monsters that remove his CB's from the S/T zone was absurd.

Dragon Queen of Tragic Endings actually featured in the 5Ds anime as the payoff for a series of three anime-only Continuous spells. They force the opponent to shuffle back monsters, spells and traps respectively when they draw them during the Draw Phase, yata-locking the entire game down while the Dragon Queen rips out what little resources are left in the hand. The plot of the duel was all about feeling helpless and stuck after losing a loved one, making it a pretty neat parallel with the actual mechanics of the duel.

So what I'm getting from this is that Crystal Beast isn't *that* bad, it's just that Cimo can't use them properly.

OMG!!! 🤩🤩🤩 This has got to be one of my favorite YGO videos !!! you guys are replicating the exact match up that we used to play with my best friend in middle school, him running cloudians and me being a crystal beast hardcore fan ofc 😍😍😍 and the deck Alex is running looks so similar to what i was running with the Hamon, the queens etc 😁😁 so many fun memories and so much nostalgia !!! thanks guys for making me rewatch my childhood janky deck in action 👍🤣 one hot tech in crystal beasts though : you should run snipe hunter, it is "powerful " and you don't care about the discard as it unclogs your hand 😜

So cimos has never played crystal beast before...

He threw by playing the worst I have probably ever seen. I am a fan of the series but clearly there was 0 research done on this deck.

What I got from this video, is that I must tech “by the order if the Emporer” to hard counter the “Flowandereeze” deck in 2022. Not so fun when you get floodgated, isn’t it you feathered follies

9:47 I'm already calling it. He actually managed to summon Rainbow Dragon and activates the effect ON THE TURN IT WAS SPECIAL SUMMONED. Edit: Well, I'm dissapointed.

I love that for this episode the jank duelist is Joseph itself, I hope he's very proud for having made it on history of jank

Watching Cimo try and play CB hurts, rule 1, fuck spells that stay in you S/T zone, use that space for your CB cards, 2 CB does really well when you can get them on field quickly, the less none CBs you run the better than become (to a point). All in all he should be running less spells more CBs (tribute fodder) and more single use spells. Can't contend with DAD but still better than he makes them look.

It needs bois in the backrow for the protection to be live, that's why MBT popped them before the field spell.

Honestly these make me feel so nostalgic cus back in the day imo yugioh was way more chill and more fun to play (unlike now where everyone is focused on playing meta and playing all their extra deck in one turn) and cards from GX are def the most memorable and remind me of childhood.

Really want a cloudian link. With the attack position thing and all. Also Ruby Carbuncle is nuts! It gets all your guys it’s sick as hell.

I predict a sub-archetype called "Data Cloudian".

Of note, walking Sangan into Hamon still deals 1000 damage via Hamon's effect

Cimo misplayed so hard last game. After he nukes his board, , draw a card, summon dragon queen, draw a card, rare value to draw Jinzo, proceed to the route. Could’ve controlled the game.
@tyranitararmaldo3 жыл бұрын
I mean, having Dragon Queen of Tragic Endings in a deck 2 years before it was released is also a big misplay.

When i first opened packs with crystal beast cards, i thought the monsters in the spell and trap zone keep their monster effects. I just did not understand how the deck could be competitive otherwise.
@clayxros5763 жыл бұрын
Honestly if the cards had a "While this is a Spell, [effect]" the deck would be way better. Imagine Mammoth gave an extra Normal while in the S/T zone, Turtle gave an Atk/Def boost(equal to its Def), or Eagle let you summon from backrow once per turn. All they need is SOMETHING to do while a Spell and the deck could have had real legs.

@@clayxros576 the anoying thing is carbuncle did in the anime with the ability to special summon itself from the spell and trap zone.

@@mesiagamer5217 I legit thought I imagined that. Was the one thing from GX I remember besides that Electrum OTK
@jasonjanisewski783 жыл бұрын
The deck played well is kind of like Zombies with an OTK option (Abundance). With the field spell and a little setup, they can endlessly swarm/revive each turn and also have s/t negation, extra card draw, etc
@Kleemoor3 жыл бұрын
Oh man I remember this deck. Crystal beast was one of the first decks I competed with in actual tournaments. Such memories. Crystal aboundance was my win con. Played it at 3 haha. So i didnt have to play Hammond or the bad crystal beasts as you said.
@lilhoss4reals Жыл бұрын
I like how the intro was basically them saying these decks were so bad that they had to fix them just to be playable.
