I love how they show that Legolas used to be young and careless by having him almost die twice due to his lack of awareness. In the lord of the rings he’s more humble and stoic and very aware of his surroundings, no doubt he used to be wreckless and learned his lesson throughout the centuries lol

Legolas is likely older than a LOT of his retainers. This also makes him the most skilled fighter compared to them and makes him far more bold when it comes to combat since his danger sense for orcs in the forest is "oh, target practice". They likely stick out to him compared to other foes since he is so used to fighting in that environment. The most telling part of this is when he loosed his arrow as he moved and instead of confirming his kill, he just moved on before the arrow has finished sailing to its target as if he already knew it was going to hit. That's a level of skill that normal elves were not able to do.

The thing is, leaving aside the magical nature of elves, most of them have been alive for thousands of years. If you spend that time training to fight, well what are you going to do against that sort of experience.
@adittya90024 жыл бұрын
Most elves don’t actually spend all that much time training, since they hate fighting and killing in general, especially the Wood elves. The only elves with great martial prowess were the Noldor who waged their war in the 1st age against Morgoth. Humans are said to be more physically capable fighters because they’re “tall and strong” especially Gondorians like Aragorn and Boromir who are descended from Numenor.
@CeruleanSword3 жыл бұрын
@@adittya9002 “Especially the wood elves” Sorry what? The wood elves ESPECIALLY have been fighting all throughout the third age ever since the fall of Amon Lanc and Dol Guldur replaced it. Ever since the Greenwood became the Mirkwood, the wood elves have been literally hunting giant spiders in their spare time, don’t come here and say they aren’t used to fighting. Mirkwood is named such precisely because it is dangerous and the wood elves literally patrol it. How can you say they aren’t used to fighting? The Noldor elves of Imladris and Lindon spend their entire time drinking while the elves of Lorien spend their entire time protected by Galadriel’s magic to the point where no enemies dare come close. Thranduil’s wood elves have the most recent experience of their entire race, hence why they have an actual standing army.
@adittya90023 жыл бұрын
@@CeruleanSword I didn’t mean to say the Wood Elves were garbage fighters. They obviously have experience fighting and are great fighters in their own right, but in comparison to the Noldor who had the seen the _light of Aman,_ risen up in rebellion against Valinor and single handedly led the offence against the overwhelming might of Morgoth in the most brutal battles ever seen in the history of Arda, the experience of the Wood elves straight up _pales._ The Silmarillion couldn’t have made it more clearer that the Noldor who had spent an eternity learning at the feet of the Ainur, were easily the greatest Elven warriors, they had the most natural predisposition to War and were the greatest smiths to ever exist. The fact that they spent most of the 3rd age in relative isolation because they had borne the brunt of thousands of years of war throughout the 1st and 2nd ages doesn’t change that. If anything the MOST isolationist race have always been the Sindar. They’ve never directly taken part in ANY conflict apart from the last Alliance. While elves from Rivendell periodically helped the men of Arnor and Gondor during major events even during the 3rd age. Its repeatedly stated throughout the main books that Sauron still feared the might of what was left of the Noldor, with Rivendell and Lorien being the most powerful Elven strongholds remaining, and that when all else fail they would be the *last* to fall. Galadriel by herself brings down the walls and magics of Dol Guldur and lifts the fog upon Mirkwood. The Wood elves by comparison aren’t even registered as a threat in Sauron’s mind. By their very nature they lack the wisdom and strength of their Noldor brethren even when they vastly outnumber them, the only time a Sindar kingdom came close to matching them was in Doriath, under the rule of Melian. There is a reason why it was Gil Galad and Elendil leading the reunified army and not Thranduil or his father. The Sindar barely have any experience when it comes to large scale open warfare. All the major battles in Arda have been almost exclusively fought by the Noldorin and Men. Sindar fighting experience essentially boils down to small scale skirmishes at their borders. This really shouldn't be up for debate.

@@adittya9002 I agree with everything you wrote. The only thing I don't agree Is humans being More physically adept at combat. I don't recall "I could be wrong at this" Tolkien stating Men were generally taller and stronger than elves. @adittya90023 жыл бұрын
@@juanfefericobatemanzuniga6160 While it is not explicitly stated that the Numenoreans were more physically adept at combat, it is more or less implied in the way Tolkien described their physical characteristics (emphasis on the word "tall") They were the tallest race in Middle Earth by far (This isn’t even a competition, Elendil was said to be 7ft++ in height) As for the Dunedain and the Gondorians, I don't think much has changed when it comes to physical capability, they are still described as being “the tall men of Gondor”, the only thing which seems to have changed is their long lifespan. I say the race of men are physically more imposing than the Elves because its mentioned multiple times how Boromir and Aragorn tower over the others and are physically stronger than the rest of the Fellowship. Though Legolas isn't exactly a High elf, there's very few (if any) notable physical differences between the Elven races. _" Tolkien said that of all the races of men, those who were More similar to the Elves "especially the high Elves" were the numenoreans"_ This bit is referencing the cultural and traditional sophistication of the Numenoreans ( as well as the Tolkien traits of "wisdom in their eyes" and "fair to look at")

In the novels Legolas (who is an ELF and not a human in case you guys had forgotten) can walk on snow like Jesus on water. I suppose Tolkien wrote this because in ancient folk tales and mythologies, elves (which belong to the fairy people) can jump from twig to twig on a tree like a squirrel. Scholars - like the brothers Grimm (yes they did more than just retelling fairy tales) explained this belief with a possible ethereal substance of those half-spectral creatures (in our ancenstors' minds of course not in reality). So ... Legolas just uses here his elf abilities as his role models do in myths. Conclusion: Tolkien and Jackson were paying their respect to old tales about elves and fairies. By watching this, I see no wrongdoing and no ridiculousness in a world where magic and magical creatures and things exist. Accept this you modern-day physic-nerds!

Wood elves specialize in mobile combat with bows in the woods, they are NOT good in close formation fighting in open fields that favors everyone else such as those lead footed humans and dwarves. Light armor, quick reflexes, plenty of ammo, and lithe blades is the name of the game for the wood elves. Now, magic is a different argument. But LOTR isn't much on magic anyway. So...

I‘m not a Fan of the hobbit movies in general but these fighting scenes are just phenomenal and simply badass!

I admire the artistry and all the work here, but it just feels like a video game compared to the more grounded and believable work in LOTR.

The Return of the King had plenty of scenes that were heading towards what we see in the hobbit films.

Ok, so. 1) No, thoose are not all the scenes with legolas. 2) No, thoose are not all the best and cool scenes with legolas. I just took some to show. 3) Not gonna upload full ever, since i've just recieved my first strike and Hobbit got 5 min limit... I can't upload 20 clips or so to show all the glorious CGI and scenes. Gonna upload 5, and thats about it.

First Legolas surfboards on an Uruk hai shield, now he surfboards on a gundabad orc scout, what will Peter Jackson come up with next?😂

Unlike many fans, I love Legolas character in Hobbit trilogy. We're used to see him friendly and nice in LOTR because he was in the fellowship against orcs and Mordor's army. But imagine him as your enemy. It would be so scary! He is very ruthless, sharp and you have no chance against him. Considering the hard relationship between his father and the dwalves there is no surprize that Legolas is rude to Thorin and the crew. He has only parent alive and dwalves decieved the king once with gems (his wife belongings i suppose). My only complaint the movie showed little of Legolas softness and caring emotions. He was so caring in LOTR with Gimli, Aragorn and hobbits...

This was so over the top but so entertaining, I didn't like the way they changed the story but the Hobbit movies were extremely creative, I loved the scenes with the dwarves, and their fight with Smaug inside Erebor was the best thing. The elves fights were also very fun. At first I didn't like them making up a character, Tauriel, but then she was so likable and dignified, she seemed too good for the Mirkwood elves and reminds more of a Higher Elf.

Is it just me who noticed that Legolas sometimes has Tauriels bow and smoetimes his own? At 0:43 his bow curves in at the handle (like Tauriels), at 0:47 back to normal. 1:39 Tauriels bow, 1:50 back to normal Also his quiver runs out of arrows and he keeps shooting and arrows just appear in his hand if u play it slow His bow and dagger also seem to switch places whenever he needs them, doesnt need to put them back... haha
