I think any stencils work best on flat panels and smoother curves, but there's definite potential there. Great one

It’s not always your fault mate. I often hear you devaluing yourself. You need to stop, good video, food for thought you’re not a professional which is the whole angle of this show anyway. Chin up and respect ya self brudda

Interesting video. I've considered trying to cut masking tape or frisket film stencils on my laser cutter for a similar but more customizable solution. I know some people do the same using a cricut, which if you have a large army might start to make monetary sense over buying that many anarchy stickers.

I used stencils a few months ago for the tau desert camo for the tanks and it worked amazingly. Not seen many people replicate the 4th Ed desert scheme, so it’s nice to have something people don’t have!

You would porbably have an easier time with the rigid stencils by sticking the model down and holding the stencil to the model rather than tacking the stencil on the model itself. I'd also consider trimming down the sides of the stencils so you can get the edges into smaller gaps allowing you to spray on your pattern. It would also mean you could get the stencil closer to the surface and thus reduce overspray/bleed. Might sound daft but if you ever watch someone put shipping stencils on a box they dont stick it down, just hold it to the surface, rattle can over it and move on. In this way you can chase stencils round corners by changing how you hold it while you spray. On top of that if you want a layered stencil, just make a "keying" mark somewhere, hold each stencil up in turn aligned to that mark and spray. Bingo layerd stencil in short order and you didn't need to jury rig a stencil onto a model. Hope it helps.

'what are the prospects of making stencils of my own, using paper, masking tape, plastic film or aluminium foil? Or if one would use a 3D printer, one could perhaps do pretty advanced and reusable stencils?

I've seen People cut up frog tape and that looks pretty sweet. Blue tack for vehicles also works well. Re 3D printing I've no idea!

Using a vinyl cutter with either thin vinyl or frisket film paper would probably be pretty good. assuming you can draw what you want as a vector graphic.
@SleepySlann5 ай бұрын
If you want the cheap solution, you could get some sticker paper for the printer and cut the pattern there. But the vinyl printer is probably the best solution, especially if there is a maker space nearby with one. There are flexible materials for the 3d printer if you already have one, but I don't know if they are available on regular printers yet

They were spoken about... years ago, on Beasts of War, but Brian, the guy behind Anarchy Models, doesn't really do much nowadays with the product from what I've seen. The website is garbage.
