In the misunderstanding, he literally has fancy clothes under his coat, and even somehow had the money to do his hair and look good for his "date". I wonder if it might have been a better idea to have the homeless person have periods where he Does work, legit, not just being near constantly homeless, because irl that’s long term homelessness which is considered a problem and limited help is usually offered, vs short term homelessness which is usually the result of someone willing to work entering hard times. We tend to empathize more with homeless people irl if we know that by helping them they’ll become self-sufficient again, but this guy never does, he gambles and loses his money, which is not how I’d want people thinking about me if I was homeless..
