Thank you for this amazing video and easy to follow demonstrations! The hint on "not turning the whole piece" in the cable section will serve us well as the project grows. I commented on Pippin that this project is akin to interval training; intense effort on the special stitches with resting rows on the raised front ridge. After about 15 cables, the muscle memory kicked it, and with the arrows as well. I borrowed Contemporary Celtic Crochet from the library, renewed it and bought it. The stitch guide alone is worth the price. Kindest regards, Sandy

I was hoping you might help me calculate how much wool I need, as I don’t have the same yarn I have 2800mts of a bulky 5 which I would like to use. Given that your instructions are for a 4 weight.

You can add multiples of 12 to the original starting chain.

Thank you so much for your videos, love them I was wondering if you can make it bigger for a blanket
@BonnieBayCrochet3 жыл бұрын
You can by adding multiples of 12 to the starting chain. You will need to add extra rows to the panels and do some refiguring on the trim, but this is very doable Thereza.

I checked your stitch guide in Contemporary Celtic Crochet and the instructions for the woven stitch are different than on the Red Heart pattern for the 2nd half. There is a second yarn over.I am waiting for tomorrow's video for clarification and in the meantime gifted two beautiful scarves with a border around rows 1-17. I love learning these new stitches and expanding my crochet horizon. Thanks
@BonnieBayCrochet8 жыл бұрын
Yes, unfortunately there is an error in the Red Heart stitch guide. The video and Contemporary Celtic Crochet book are correct. There should NOT be a second yarn over as you pointed out. So sorry for the confusion. Blessings, Bonnie Barker BonnieBayCrochet.com

To make this less wide could you use a foundation chain that's a multiple of both 3 and 4? Say, 120? This would accommodate all of the sections that are multiples of 2, 3 and 4?
@BonnieBayCrochet Жыл бұрын
The foundation chain determines the length on this design. You can shorten this by subtracting multiples of 12 from the original chain. I would stick with the regular chain.
@rethamorgan58037 жыл бұрын
Thanks everyone for their input regarding my question regarding multiples. I will try the multiples of 12.
@jessicahamilton19137 жыл бұрын
This is a wonderful project!! Thank you so much for these videos. I am a little discouraged at this point, after the first row of cables I only have 57. It worked out perfectly- one final cable and a space for sc at the end. I cannot find my mistake. Any words of wisdom? Is it possible to keep working and it'll work itself out? I should still have the 176 so I contemplating going onto the next row.
@BonnieBayCrochet7 жыл бұрын
One or two stitches won't break the bank, so to speak. If your cables are coming out now, just stick to what you have. Either way, you will be working a perimeter round around the throw at the end, and this covers a "multitude of sins" so to speak! I won't tell anyone if you don't!

so pretty how can u make this bigger and make it look right
@BonnieBayCrochet8 жыл бұрын
I've had a lot of folks ask this very question. To make it bigger would require a redesign. It would depend a lot on the size you are going for and adjust the starting chain accordingly. The math gets a little sticky, and rows would need to be added to compensate for the length, but it is doable.
@michelemizell93058 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this design! I am loving it! Are the cable stitches suppose to be tight or slightly loose? TIA!
@BonnieBayCrochet8 жыл бұрын
Hmmm....I would say consistent, meaning neither too loose or too tight. I would try the gauge using single crochet to compare where your stitches are now. If you have further questions, just let me know and I'll try to help! Blessings, Bonnie Barker BonnieBayCrochet.com

I want to make this wider and longer for my husband. I know I saw a post where you mentioned the stitch counts but since this is worked from the long side I'm not sure how to do that so it all works out. I thought I'd just increase the panels (Woven and Celtic weave). Can anyone help?
@BonnieBayCrochet7 жыл бұрын
You can make it longer if you choose, and the multiple of 12 should work for most of the stitches. I would suggest adding more rows in the panels, and you will have to work with the lace border to adjust for the changes, but this is very doable.
@Pandyana7 жыл бұрын
already planned on adding more rows to the panels and i am pretty sure my husband isn't in to lace so I'll have to figure something else out lol. Thank you Bonnie
@Pandyana7 жыл бұрын
So I made a chain of 279 and so it ends up being 278 across. This works out perfectly so all the stitches are aligned and have the ending stitches right. It makes the afghan approximately 6 feet long. I'm adding extra rows to the panels and extra panels to make up the width it needs. I would post a pic of what I have done already but I don't know how

Question. I want to do this pattern in squares, what multiples is the stitch count?
@BonnieBayCrochet8 жыл бұрын
That's a little tricky because each stitch has a different multiple. I can give you these and you can determine how big you want your squares: cable = 3+2, arrow = 4+2, woven = 2, cable = 4.
@rethamorgan58038 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I will take this information and see what I can come up with. Happy Holidays!!!!!

So, this is really a pattern that can only be crocheted as one large piece. You have done a beautiful job with this piece and thank you for sharing with the world.
@BonnieBayCrochet8 жыл бұрын
I suppose it can be designed to be squares. I have done something similar to what you are talking about with another pattern in my leaflet "Aran Afghans", but it is a totally different pattern. I'm sure what you are asking can be done, it would just take a complete rewrite.

@BonnieBayCrochet7 жыл бұрын
That's really dependent on many factors: yarn choice, personal gauge, hook size, etc. You can lengthen the starting chain by a multiple of 12 to add length to your preference, and I would suggest adding rows of woven stitch and Celtic Weave to widen.
