The Hollow Knight Timeline | COMPLETE Hollow Knight Story & Lore

The Hollow Knight timeline is long and complicated. From the rise of The Radiance, Void, The Moth Tribe and Unn to an infection that would destroy an entire kingdom. Hallownest went through so much as a result of the vengeance of one God.
In this video, I explore the whole history of Hallownest, its fall, the creation of The Hollow Knight and return of The Knight. This story has so many incredible characters who made great change to the world. Hornet, The White Lady, Pale King and who could forget Zote.
Hollow Knight is one of the darkest tales in any video game. Silksong may be just as dark.

Words can not, CAN NOT, describe how much I love this game. I recently got back to playing it after my uncle enabled family sharing for his library of games. When I first played it, I was excited but not very experienced with metroidvania games. I died a lot, missed a couple of things, etc. But now, after nearly 2 years of not being able to play it, I got back, and I'm so happy to play it again. I didn't think this game would get any more popularity until silksong came out, which it hasn't yet. Anyways, this game is a masterpiece. And I love it.

@Skyrionn right. Also, about those 5 endings, I managed to get endings 1, 2, and 5. But I'm not able to get the ending with giving "Godseeker" the delicate flower cause I try to get the game to 100% and more. I believe that was ending 4 in this video. At first, I didn't know that certain side quests had different outcomes. But after watching a few videos on this game, I realized that. Currently, I am trying to get ending 3, where Ghost defeats absolute radiance and becomes the Abyss lord.

What timing! I started Hollow Night a couple years ago and made it four hours in before bouncing off of it. Been on a Metroidvania kick lately though, so I started it up again a month ago. Man you were surprisingly neutral/generous to Radiance and Pale Wyrm. They were both petty gods. Embrace the Void is the canon ending for me because Radiance and Pale Wyrm both get their come uppins, Radiance dies and Pale Wyrm's legacy is returned to the void. It also allows for Silksong to still take place.

About Unn, Godseeker implies her fading is due to losing land, devotion and dream so her fading probably started when the White Lady claimed ownership over the caverns that became Queen's Gardens, and leater worsened with the building of roads and the infection breakout

This is game is crazy good ! I had no knowledge of it at all just randomly downloaded and tried it out I think when it was on game pass …. I played a while and kind of fell off of it even tho I did enjoy the game … I recently got into the game again and have gotten much farther and it’s a great experience!

@@Skyrionn I had just beaten the girl with the dress in green path I had explored I think as far as the city of tears I think it’s called and a few surrounding areas .. I got really lost and couldn’t find out where to go next glad I picked it back up tho !

Interesting how you put the acquisition of monarch wings after watcher knights + lurien, when to even get to watcher knights you need monarch wings (unless you pogo skip). Doesn’t really matter since you can do things in this game in mostly whatever order you want but I thought it was interesting.

The fact that the Knight has the ability to make so many very morally concerned choices would imply that they are also not truly 'Hollow' either as having a moral compass at all to affect your decisions, good or evil, means one has a mind and a will. The ending where it replaces the current Hollow Knight thus may only be another temporary solution and the Knight eventually would succumb to the Radiance just like it's predecessor. Unless you do a complete 'sociopath' playthrough where all your choices are purely practical and in service only to your ultimate goal, the Knight is never a perfect Vessel that could contain the Radiance forever.

My personal theory is that the more you do in the game, the less "hollow" the Knight becomes. By the time you get Voidheart, it's will is probably stronger than any character in the game, living or otherwise. The Pale King could will a few void constructs, the Knight does it with the entirety of the void

All endings can be considered canon, as Hollow Knight: Silksong is a prequel, not a sequel.

@@Skyrionn People still debate about it, but most agree that when Team Cherry said the game would be a sequel, they most likely meant a sequel to the franchise, which doesn't mean anything chronologically. As for why people think it's a prequel: It's the same reason you stated. Team Cherry wants EVERY ending to be canon, and with the sealed siblings ending, it wouldn't make much sense to be a sequel. This is all I've heard.
