I saw a clip where in that same stream she was telling how she got a 3D model file and had to stream with that in the studio... except it was a duck and not her actual model and it had no rigging. I think you do make a good point. Hololive right now is at it's peak, and I believe that it will only grow from here on. However, this is possible with Yagoo as the leader. I fear once he retires, whoever is taking over might not have his capabilities and may make decisions that would ultimately be the decline of Hololive. I hope their impressive talent picking capabilities will work on the future CEO too.

You’re right, Yagoo IS the Cover Corp. The only ones who could take up his mantle has to have the similar set of visions and principles as him, while also posses the competence of a CEO. Yagoo is the leader AND the symbol of Cover Corp. Heaven doesn’t just give two gifts everyday. Living up to this legacy just too much for one person to bear. I reckon we’ll eventually have to go for the traditional approach of two people to fill the post of a CEO and a symbol. That’d be the end of an era, but hopefully, the start of a new one. As for the successor, I reckon we start from a person of principles, then train him to rise up to the role.

I never understood why company fealty to the point of downright worship was such a huge thing in postwar economic miracle Japan, but when I look at the likes of Yagoo and Satoro Iwata, I truly understand how these companies became so much more than a job to so many people, if this is the kind of leadership that used to be widespread throughout the country. good ol' zaibatsu culture that existed pre world war 2 had huge influence in japanese culture. Their families played a vital role of modernizing japan so the goverment and the people (mostly) sees them as good (beneficial) and try to support the zaibatsu either by helping them out and being loyal. They have such an influence that they contributed to the militarism and subsequent war crimes of japan. But there's also generally the culture of japan of just being respectful to your superiors. So head of companies can just exploit em and they got no repercussions, in the past they will play fair and be honourable but now. Not so much.

I think of Motoaki Tanigo as the real life talent behind Yagoo the character. He doesn't use a VTuber model, usually, but it's basically the same principle. Well, in light of recent events, it seems that while Yagoo certainly isn’t some perfect saint, he is far better than a certain yacht owner when it comes to actually caring for all of the VTubers working under him, including those outside Japan. Hololive actually seems to have competent managers to deal with trouble behind the scenes at the various branches, and compared to the string of graduations and terminations plaguing Nijisanji, Mel’s recent termination seems to have been handled professionally with Mel and the company parting ways amicably with no hard feelings on either side. The entire situation was handled in a far more civil manner than Nijisanji’s colossal series of fuckups. Comparing the way Mel’s termination was handled to the way Selen/Doki’s termination was handled is like night and day.

In a Industry where bad managment seems like the usual enemy, (Speaking about you Niji!) Yagoo just sticks out. My Oshi genuinly seem happy when he reacts to her tweets and she makes it seem like he supports her. He isn´t the kind of CEO who sits in the backroom counting the money his talents made him, while those Talents are left to somehow survive on their own. He comes out of the room and cheeks on how things are going and if he can do something for them, which is what i expect out of a management. This is the main diference to who is run the things behind. From one side you had a man with DECADES of experience in a lot of fields and a resume bigger than your groceries list. And from the other you had an universitary in his 20s using his parents money and his pet proyect from university. And yeah! As you said, he had his own faults on decisions.... but there is a little line to be put there as well since HE learn it from those mistakes and improve them too, while others just overlook it or keep repeating the same mistakes (AHEMWACTORANDNIJISANJIAHEM). Not perfect for sure and most if from PR, but i actually prefer that because that shows some level of respect when you're presenting a product too, by putting yourself on the line to show said product too. Put it in the way of a game. I seen a lot of games who are only cinematic shows on the preview on announcement. Then you see someone who had gameplay shows through and through as well. For example, people was skeptic a lot of Ghost of Tsujima and was critize heavily as well. Comes the gameplay trailer just mere month of release and: "OH! the game looks exactly if not better than the trailer was". In the same year ND did the coward thing to hide from the PR nightmare it was behind a LGBT shield, and the PR nightmare was Cyberpunk 2077, despiete people suck CDPR's d*ck all day.

Fun fact: that Yagoo head-creature thing was not made by fans. It was made by Fubuki. It has a name but I forgot what it is.😅 It's been around since even before I found Hololive, and that was in August 2020. There are other memes like "Farmer Yagoo", which was a pic of him dressed like a farmer riding a mini-tractor, given to Subaru to show to viewers _by her manechan._ There's also the Sanrio pic Nousagi used, it's actually the JP bros that found that pic.
