the sound of a strat through a fender tube amp is magic.

I bought a new super reverb amp around 1969 along with an SG. I sold it and the guitar a few years later and always regretted it, but my wild oats were calling and rational decisions werent my strong suit. Twenty years later i moved to Minnesota and had a hobby farm, 40 acres and no neighbors. I converted one of the buildings into a studio, bought another super reverb, had a Gibson gold top, Fender strat and i tell you what, i had many nights and days of pure heaven jamming away. People would ask why do you play that loud and i'd say cuz it wont go any louder. So when i would get done jamming, i would come out and i would hear a big herd of cows bunched up at the closest spot they could get to the studio all looking at me and mooing very loudly, they loved my guitar playing and it was a real satisfying experience. That super reverb tho, when you are really getting down that amp would seem like it got another 30 or 40 watts from somewhere and it would take off with a tone that always had me goosebumped to the max! In my humble opinion, there is no other amp for me, thanks for reading this, i feel better now.

It thrills me to see a man of your caliber accquire this level of excellence. It's a perfect match for you. Don't let this one get away, and don't touch it! Start searching for the next set of tubes now, and when you find them, put them away some place safe, because eventually you'll need them and you don't want any down time or less than first rate tubes (or any other parts) in this jewel. This amp is a perfect storm, a textbook example of how a mass produced factory made piece can transcend it's own design and become something far beyond what Leo, or anybody else anticipated. Everything came together just right on this one, and that doesn't happen every day. Play it, rock it, blow the roof off the house with it, but take extra special care of it and never skimp on anything it might need in the future. It's on another plane altogether from most of the run of the mill examples out there, and it's Golden, with a capital G! You are now the guardian of a mighty sword that others will cherish long after all of us are gone. Congratulations! You were ready for it and it appeared. There it is. Use it well!

Your Strat reminds me of Kenny Wayne Shepherd's Strat that looks like that, complete with the paint worn away from heavy strumming above the pickguard 🙏❤️🎸 He actually has 2 that look that way: one is vintage and one is a custom shop creation made to use in place of the vintage sunburst Strat. That guitar was Fenders very first time using any sort of "thin skin" finish thats made to wear quicker than normal nitro so it's gets broken in quickly on the road. Pretty sure Fenders 'thin skin' finish they applied in bulk later on was based on this specific guitar.

Hi Matthew, I'm so jealous of your new Super! It sounds really great man. I have two questions. How do you mic it and do you do anything to the tracks in post (split into stereo, add a touch of reverb etc...), and do you think you could do a comparison of this amp to your other Super Reverbs back to back? I'm really interested to see what they sound like compared to one another. Just to really hear the difference from the speakers. Great playing too by the way! Cheers, Jimmy

I also have always preferred a 4x10 set-up myself. Perfect punch down low but still sounds clear and crisp up top. I've got two Super's, a '65 blackface and a '74 silverface with the added channel gain knob (with the blackface versions the only way to get that power tube breakup is to crank it to ear bleeding levels so I actually wind up playing the 74 more often). I also have a '74 Bassman 10 combo w/ 4x10's which also sounds great- and can still be had at a bargain unlike the old Supers. Cheers P[>
