The HOLY WELL of Dunsfold | Surrey

I am in Dunsfold in deepest Surrey for a look around the historic St Mary & All Saints' Church which contains the oldest Pews in England. I then visit the nearby Holy Well which could have been the site of pre-Christian Pilgrimage with its waters thought to cure Diseases of the eye. This Ancient Spring upon the River Arun is fascinating place to come to if you are in the Area.

I enjoyed visiting the well a few years ago. Was reading about a spring called the "Ladies Bowl" in Slaugham last week which I'd never heard of.

Those pews were different! There was the most beautiful flower arrangement on that ancient font. So many towns called Holywell over the U.K. because of a local ‘holy well’ there. I love yew trees too- so ancient & unfortunately not given preservation orders- if the church wants to cut it down they just can go ahead with no comeback!

Have you ever been to Busbridge? There is a public footpath that goes near Busbridge Lakes (Paid entry) and connects with the first ancient Christian settlement in Godalming, there’s a convent up the road, which weirdly enough, my Dad’s birthplace!

PS I found Dunsfold when returning from finding the Wey and Arun canal at nearby Loxwood. Didn't stop but I will do next time I'm over that area
