The best part of being in the Navy? Is coming home.
NORFOLK (May 16, 2019) The aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) returns to Naval Station Norfolk, May 16, 2019, after a seven-month deployment. John C. Stennis arrived at its new homeport in Norfolk, Virginia, after departing Bremerton, Washington, in October 2018 and operating in the U.S. 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility. Thanks to all our Shipmates/Marines/Soldiers who returned home in CVN-74! I was a Small Boy Rider for a while, then my Naval Service went in a different direction, and was attached to various commands around the world. But one thing that I remember as the best part of coming home, was the first greeting from a loved one. Then friends. So, I'll end this before it becomes a Word Fit with: WELCOME HOME, Y'ALL!!!

For anyone joining the Navy, the truth is it’s a sacrifice. My cousin and friend didn’t really see their father growing up. It was only at a later age they got to spend the most time with them

I was an ATN3 aboard a Gearing Class Destroyer. I was only in four years but my biggest regret was not making Second Class. The Navy in all their wisdom lost my advancement paperwork for Third Class so I had to wait six months to try again. Then they lost my test for 2nd Class and had to wait six more months to take it. By then I was pretty disheartened by the Navy went ahead and got out.
