This visit, the first by a U.S. aircraft carrier to Norway in over six decades, is aimed at strengthening the U.S.-Norway partnership. Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram, during his tour of the ship, emphasized the importance of the visit as a demonstration of the security guarantees through NATO, particularly Norway's close ties with the United States.
navyrecognition.com/index.php...
Restrictions while the vessel was in Oslo
"Inner Oslofjord is now a restricted zone. Operation of aircraft - including drones - within 0.5 nautical miles (926 meters) of military vessels is forbidden without prior permission. The restricted area also applies at an altitude of up to 3,000 feet (914.4 meters).
Aircraft can operate normally outside the restricted area of 0.5 nautical miles and an altitude of 3,000 feet.
First global assignment
The USS Gerald R. Ford is on its first global mission. The ship accommodates a crew of 4,500 and 90 aircraft and helicopters. The ship sailed from Norfolk in the USA on 2 May. It passed through the English Channel and on into the North Sea. USS Gerald R. Ford is named after the 38th President of the United States. It is the first aircraft carrier of a total of ten in the Gerald R. Ford class. The Gerald R. Ford class will take over from the Nimitz class and is the first new class in the US Navy in more than 40 years"

On Friday morning His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon boarded the American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford,

Don't deceive yourself and don't lie to people! There is no friendship and there never will be! You have attacked Norway, in fact, America can only destroy countries (for example, Iraq). Russia is not what it used to be. We will beat all the fascists, as in 1941-1945! Anyone who is not a fool understands that it was Russia (the USSR) that won the Great Patriotic War, and stupid people do not even know history and mistakenly think that the United States and other countries allegedly played an important role in the victory over fascism... Sooner or later, everyone will find out the truth that there are real heroes in Russia! And the NATO fascists will get in their teeth!

What'd you say is irrelevant, its still true, and most is definitely the accurate statement. Consider Norway has about 100 combat aircraft and ranks about 75th in nations by that metric. A nimitz/ Gerald ford can carry, arm, support, and deploy 75-90 aircraft that can accomplish 240+ sorties a day. the readiness rates are also going to be far higher on a carrier, meaning more of those 90 on a carrier are operational /flight ready with less downtime.

LOL bro 15,000 Norwegians willingly fought for the Nazis. Authoritarianism runs in their blood. Oh and definitely don’t ask them about their part in Lebensborn. And because that’s was so dark, i’ll leave you with a fun fact. You wouldn’t have ABBA (yes the musical group) without the Lebensborn program. As the lead singer was a product of it. Also, makes sense why Norway is so homogeneous nowadays. It wasn’t always like that, lol.

The pro-fascist party was tiny and irrelevant during the inter-war years. The ABBA member was not a product of Lebensborn, but just the quite ordinary child of a German soldier and a local woman. Norway is also not very homogenous, about 1/5 of the population are immigrants. You can google any of this, and I would challenge anybody who comes across your post to do so.

There are no practical reasons for doing that, most large allied ships go to Northern Norway. This visit by the USS Gerald Ford to Oslo is a big FU to Russia. It shows the strength of NATO while our neighbor Russia is going to war against Ukraine. When the US parks its newest and best floating war machine in downtown Oslo to visit their Norwegian friends, it is a hugely important message for the US and Norway to send.

@@Dan-fo9dk What is the value of a (war)ship that is nuclear powered? Start with that. Carriers are not tankers, nor are they cargo ships or cruise ships. They are a warship designed to transport aircraft (and the support the aircraft require), be they offensive, or defensive in nature. NAVY carriers are large. Not as large as most oil tankers, but large. How many tankers or cargo ships can reach 30+knots? The A4W reactors (two) that power our current carriers can generate 140,000 shaft horsepower each, to drive a ship displacing in excess of 100,000 long tons to 30+ knots.
