In my teens i regularly travelled into London most weekends to walk from Marylebone Station down to George street just to look into Portman's window and maybe if i was lucky step inside ... I joined the back then Lamborghini Owners & enthusiasts club which had not been running that long .

I don’t have a Lamborghini but I do live in Shropshire. Pitchford Hall was lost to the family for decades and it’s wonderful that it’s back in the hands of the family. Interesting to see its connection to Lamborghini. The sight of an English Tudor mansion with a drive filled with superb Italian motoring icons during springtime was very satisfying.

Hmm? The sort of man who bought a Lambo in the 60's is a totally different animal to the guy who buys a modern garish machine. Basically he had class, style and considerable wealth. Real wealth. A gold wrapped VAG monstrosity making lots of noise on Sloane Street is light years away from the svelte Miura and its owner.

As I young lad (about 9 years old) I went into london to the dealer with the first Lamborghini Muira in the country, it was that green. I wonder if it’s the same one that I actually saw?

If my memory serves me right it was at Maranello concessionaires which was at time located around the Old St station or city road area of london. I was on way to my sisters office near the Barbican and just got off the tube a couple of stops early. However this was 59 or 60 years ago now.

The 1st is an 'Exquisitely Crafted Italian Automobil'. So is the A Grade Tudor English Manor. The Lambos of recent times lack grace and finesse in my opinion. Maybe I am just an 'old romantic'.💠

Interesting, I never knew before now the first Lambo was sold to the UK. I went looking on the sinsheim museum site to find out more, and the car shown is dark green with 400 headlights and claims to be totally original and unrestored. Yet the BW picture on here seems to show a much lighter colour?

Yeah It's not quite original. The car was repainted into the bluey-green you see now, and as you say clearly the lights have been replaced at least once. Though it's not been kept original, it may not of had any "restoration" work done either. I'll link a small article David Morris did for the Shropshire Star in the description below, which also include an extra photo. And we're sure there's more to this story, maybe one day we will get to share this too. ;-)

That fascinating invoice from when it was purchased off the Geneva stand says "Verde" but what hue I wonder? Interestingly it also says delivery to "Bath Place" in "Barnet", which Googlemaps shows to be just a back street. Was there a garage or importer there? I know that up until the 80s some extremely expensive cars were sold from some extremely modest premises. I bought a Lotus Elite once from the original owner, who always used Pimperne Garage in Dorset, which is where he picked up his other brand new exotics, including his brown LP400 Countach!@@lamborghiniclubukofficial
