The fact that this was gonna be a street driven car for occasional track use and is now a full blown track build that is deafening to be in and wildly impractical to drive anywhere but on a circuit, is massively relatable to anyone who's ever had a project car, truly a man of the people

I really appreciate when creators listen to feedback and admit their mistakes, I didn't think anything was wrong with it the first time so I'm glad there are people out there who can help make this as safe as possible. I miss seeing your uploads every few days but know you've been working tirelessly to get this on the track and editing would take too much time away from that. Can't wait to see it rip!

20:10 Bump Stops are somewhat soft for a reason. A hard stop could make the car less predictable in an event of full compression, which would be the worst moment to have a car less predictable, usually.

It's so amazing how well behaved and helpful this community is. Fire extinguisher positioning, magnets during welding, security lines ... it's great to have so many eyes watching and pointing (serious) stuff out and help the improvement of the overall build.

If you plan to track the car on a regular basis, stay with the lexan windscreen. Track sessions will destroy either glass or lexan windscreens, one guess which is cheaper to replace?

Hey Mike. I've been watching since episode 10 or something like that, but never commented. So I guess it's time to change that. I am so, so happy that you're this close to finishing the Ferrari. It seriously feels like some sort of closure and it's exciting to see it take shape. You are a goddamn legend. Also, if you're still planning on driving it on the street sometimes (because we all know you're gonna want to do that even if it's going closer to the racecar-only side of things), please, pad that roll cage. I know it's not all that probable, that you would crash and bump your head into it, but it's still a good idea nonetheless. You don't wanna give yourself a concussion. Thanks for the great work both in the building department, and the videographical department, Mike!
@brianshorey
@brianshorey Жыл бұрын
That cage needs to be padded regardless of where it’s going to be run. My elbow hit a 6” unpadded section of roll bar during a tank slapper one time and it did a number on it. I suspect whatever group Mike is running with will have rollbar padding in the rules.

I think it's great how responsive you are to comments here. KZbinrs always say they "read all the comments" but they never respond to any of them in the videos. Whereas you respond to multiple of them and actually address and fix issues brought up. It's like we're all contributing to this car in small ways. Love to see it. Keep up the great work.

I know the EXACT feeling you went through on your first drive. I just registered/plated a 4 year project (Infiniti G35 drivetrain/engine/suspension grafted into a 1976 Datsun pickup) and it was so damn satisfying/relieving that some of those crazy engineering ideas really do work! As you mentioned several times in your build, it really can be a grind. Those hard days of kicking yourself in the ass to get in the garage to get done really do eventually pay off! Frankly, I'm surprised you're letting it go to Australia. The risk of getting it destroyed would be too much of a deterrent for me, not to mention not actually enjoying the experience of driving it yourself.

As always, a dope video. I was under the impression that send cut send was hella expensive. Hearing that it isn't makes everyone's use of the service make a lot more sense. As far as the car goes. I'm astounded. This isn't a typical "youtube build." This car is for real! The number of times the control arms alone were reworked shoe the amount of care that went into everything. The willingness to research based on the comment section is authentic af. We'll done Mike!

Man, I can't wait to see this on the track next week. Sure, it may have been a slow, quick drive around the block, but that's honestly just as rewarding. I did the same with my Civic once I got new tires and a tune. I live near a school in Houston and driving a car in anger near home is also a bad idea. That smile though... makes it all totally worth it. People are always curious why I spend so much on my car, but it's all for that sense of accomplishment and the happiness it brings.

I've been watching since forever and got to see it at last year's SEMA show. Wow...just Wow. Good luck at Willow and may your difficulties all be minor!! For testing, I'd suggest a camera or two in the engine compartment so someone can yell if a line comes loose or blows and you get warning quickly enough to shut it down before something terminal occurs. Good luck!!

So happy you are going to Buttonwillow instead of Streets. That track makes so much more sense for a car like this. Streets is just way too tight for what you are trying to do. Plus, you can use curbs and see how that goes. And teally happy you moved the external fire pull. I was pretty sure that was going to end up being a "go fix it" item at tech in Australia. So much easier to fix it in your own shop.
