One of my favorite "one hit wonders" of all time! I have the 45 and man could that gal beat the skins! Harri, I miss your hair!

Such a distinctive sound because of the Joe Meek production. Always loved it. It's got the foot-stomping like "Glad All Over".

Great catchy song, loved it back in the day still do Their from the UK. Honey was a great drummer, very cute 🥰. The lead had a great voice Actually the only song I heard in the US, said to have been popular in the UK Kudos to all involved making this song great.

That drummer does stand out! That’s Honey Lantree, who was a talented musician. I believe she was self taught, and she’s playing live here in 1964. She was known for keeping time very well. They were all from the UK.Great song request, Louis, and another great reaction, Harri.

One story is that the band's previous name didn't fly with one of the record company managers. He then took "Honey" and attached "combs" for her hairdressing work. Band name set from then.

2 or 3 years after this song was a hit, I saw that exact same video on a Saturday afternoon TV Show. I remember being very surprised the drummer was a woman. By the time the video was over, I had a very short lived crush on her! 😊

From 1964, this was The Honeycomb's debut single and their biggest hit breaking into Number 1 round the world. Honey Lantree, such a talented female drummer, drives this great tune with a delightful beat, Dennis D'Ell with his classic 60's vocals so addictive and a catchy hook that is absolutely genius made for a great hit. Hard to believe it was rejected by several labels before Joe Meek from The Tornadoes and " Telestar" fame, produced this hit. You can bet we cranked this right up when it came on the transistor radio Harri. Great reaction Handsome Harri ❤❤ Great memory Louis. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦

Right around this same time (or soon after), there was a female drummer from the San Francisco Bay area named Jan Errico. Her father, Vincent Errico was an accomplished drummer as well and her cousin Gregg Errico was the first drummer for Sly and the Family Stone. She sang lead and played drums with two bay area bands, the Vejtables and the Mojo Men. You should check her out with the Vejtables' "I Still Love You" and "The Last Thing on My Mind" and the Mojo Men "Sit Down I Think I Love You" (written by Stephen Stills).

Love this song! The Honeycombs were an English group from the 60's. "Have I the Right?" was their biggest hit. They are considered a one-hit wonder. The band had one of the few female drummers (Honey Lantree) in bands at that time.
@kengreen3575Ай бұрын
The bass player is John Lantree (Honey's brother). Honey's real name was Anne Lantree.

Viola Smith was probably the first female drummer of note, having played with numerous orchestras and swing bands from the 20's thru the 70's. It could be argued that Honey was the first female drummer to play on a hit record, although there were others, none of them were ever on big hit recordings at the time.

Loved this song since it came out. Actually didn't know the drummer was female for another another decade until Karen Carpenter came along and it was pointed out the Karen wasn't the first.

Back when at least some young men were neat and cleancut and well dressed and did not have girly long hair. Great female drummer and a grear albeit very simple song.
