Ship of fools, I’m in the mood, big log, tall cool one, 29 palms. All Roberts great solo songs.

The perfect song for you two, knowing how much you love his voice and the lyrics and most of all each other,.

Yes the "pet" reference is a term of endearment. And that's Jimmy Page on the solo. Cheers from Canada!
@EdA12 күн бұрын
Hi guys! Important fact… That’s Jimmy Page doing the guitar solo. From my recollection the first time they did anything together since the bands demise in 1980. Love the song love your reaction!
@ryanr5319Күн бұрын
You are correct, he also does the solo on Tall Cool One after the samples I believe. Could be wrong.

@ yes that is him on Tall Cool One.

There are 2 guitar solos in one of the other songs off of this EP, "Rocking at Midnight". Page plays one solo and Beck the other in 1950's rock guitar style.

Robert had said that this was done a bit “tongue in cheek “. He did The Honeydrippers at the urging of Ahmet Erdogan, the head of Atlantic Records and a good friend to Robert. Ahmet knew Robert was finding his way after Zeppelin and also knew he love rockabilly, which most of the songs by the Honeydrippers were. This being the exception. What was wild, and bemused Robert, was that this was one of his biggest hits of his solo career. In true Robert style however, he decided he was “not a crooner” and did not repeat the experience …..instead following his creative muse wherever it lead. For fulfillment, not money. I respect that allot.

Robert was peeved that his little side project far outsold the solo album he had put out and was promotimg at the time. He said he said The Honeydrippers was a side thing that "I should have left out."

The guitar solo in this song is played by none other than Jimmy Page! This was a one-off project with multiple musicians covering 5 older songs. Jeff Beck, Nile Rogers, and others played on some of the songs as well. There was never really a "band".

Such a beautiful song. I heard it bsck in early 80s tho never knew Rob Plant on lead until maybe 2 yrs ago. Incredible cover, original done by Phil Phillips. I love both versions. Since u both dig this much i know ud enjoy THERES A MOON OUT TONIGHT by Capris in 59. One of the greatest doowop songs ey

Honeydrippers was a great little EP, with all old rock songs (4-5 songs total). Most were more up temp rock n roll songs, except this one. Whole thing is well worth hearing. Jeff Beck played on a couple, and Jimmy Page on at least one (think this song). Plant's had long adventurous solo career, hard to pigeon hole or describe. I really like the stuff he's done in last 20 years. Try Tin Pan Valley.
@Roddy1965Күн бұрын
It was quite different from anything that came out at the time. I think it was popular, because maybe people who wouldn't normally have found such music just realised it was so good.
