This video came up on my recommended so I decided to watch it. I loan/lease a pony for myself. He has never done many shows and the old owner who I got him from weren’t as a experienced rider. Right now he is very head shy hates it when you are around his back legs. This is from his past. After watching this I think I am going to make more of an effort for him to feel like he is at home. Thank you for inspiring me. I will edit this with the result 💕💕❤️❤️

Therese, I just have to tell you how much you and Cara have inspired me. I got my horse a month after you. She was so hard and I was starting to think I was insane for loving her. I couldn’t handle her and we wanted to put her up for sale again but seeing you and Cara is kind of what kept me from doing it. Seeing you push through something that is so impossible for many people. It’s inspiring. My trainer told me yesterday it takes an amazing rider to turn a “bad” horse into an amazing one. It made me think of you. Thank you for sharing your journey with Cara.❤️

I think that her heart is as big as her owner´s heart ;-). She is such an enjoyable horse to watch, due to her energy and enthusiasm. She is a small horse, with a huge jump. When she jumps, she leaps like a stag; I believe that when a horse goes the extra mile, it is because it enjoys what it does. I applaud you for your patience, and following your instinct while perservering with her, in spite of general opinion regarding her suitability. You are made for each other, and destined to be together. I´m sure that you have learnt a lot more riding her, than if you had been able to afford a push-button horse.

This video is great. I am following you for about a year now I think and since I'm also riding horses myself you're kind of a rolemodel for me. I really admire the way you work with Cara and what amazing progress you two made. I'm an easily scared, insecure rider and a few times I was close to quitting riding because I was so anxious to ride. Somehow watching your videos actually made me realize that I shouldn't give up on the thing I love the most so easily and seeing you ride helped me overcoming a lot of my fear even though I still have problems with it sometimes. Anyway, I don't think my personal story matters here and probably I'm just annoying but I just wanted to tell you that you've been an inspiration to me and I really love what you're doing.

I had a really similar problem w my horse. I was looking for a horse and when I went to see one he wasn’t good but the man who took us there told us that he was selling a horse, me and my family and trainer ask if we could have him over to see how he was. The man told us yes, so they got him to the barn, he was a western horse, he was sooo skinny and was like traumatized because they didn’t wanted the horse. My trainer gave him some jumps and I really liked him, my trainer dads told us that he would only go to 1 meter courses. We bought him, and moved from that city. We arrived new city and the barn were I was first was HORRIBLE, my horse was getting worse, so we decided to move from there. And I forgot that my horse didn’t knew how to trot or canter to the left, so I reached him to do that, it took me about 3 months? So then we moved to a new barn were I am right now, and my horse was like now traumatized of the bars, so my trainer took him from cero, and helped us me and my horse be who we are now. My horse is getting weight and muscle, and we are jumping 1-10 courses!!! I am so proud of him, he is the best horse I ever sawn🐴

You have done a great job by training horse like Cara otherwise this horse would have been idle horse not controlled by anyone.
@betymoulisova73646 жыл бұрын
Wow! She is really good. Maybe you should do lower jumps and focus on having her collected, using her but rather than jumping 125 cm. I know it is not easy but you should really focus on her riding while jumping, and smaller jumps are really good on focusing, having in-outs, long line of small jumps.... You are working with her as we can see in the clips (when you are not jumping) but you need to do the same while jumping as well
@Amanda-rv5hz6 жыл бұрын
problem is that with really hot horses they usually get worse when the jumps are too low, they also often need to do things in a bit higher speed (without rushing of course) because they get more stressed when you try to take it too slow. Cara is a lot more calm over higher jumps because then she can back off from them more, that is typical with most top bred jumpers. And horses that are too calm don't make good jumpers anyway. It is very easy to sit here and judge Therese and try to "help" her when the truth is you probably wouldn't know how to handle Cara. Therese has done an amazing job with her and she is working with the jumping, she has come so far in both jumping and flatwork there's literally nothing wrong with her jumping 1.25 with her since they're both ready for it and quite capable. It's easy to be a couch jockey, but no trainer that I've trained for would have me jump low jumps over and over with a horse like her, they would put the jumps up to help her back off from them. But I mean it's not like my last trainer showed up to 1.45 internationally or anything...... so she's probably clueless against your perfect advice..... or maybe just maybe you shouldn't give unsolicited advice when you're clearly not a professional jumper or a trainer.
@dieginny31406 жыл бұрын
Amanda Boström Hey, stop being that bitchy. Bety gave actually really good advice. Cara gets way too hot while jumping, it really could help to work on a few lower jumps to improve her collection and calmness. Cara does rush, and she throws her head up a lot, these are both things that should be fixed if possible. Just because someone CAN jump 1.25 doesn't mean they SHOULD. I think they can keep jumping that high, as long as they keep working on the collection and calmness between jumps as well. My mom's old trainer always said "Jumping is dressage between obstacles" but Cara is more of a racehorse between the obstacles, instead of a dressage horse. Cara and Therese both came very far with a lot of hard work, but there is still much work left to do. *"And horses that are too calm don't make good jumpers anyway"* It really depends on what you call a "good jumper". I'd call a horse that shows rythm and regularity, relaxation/suppleness, contact, Impulsion, straightness and collection between the obstacles a good jumper. Calm horses actually make really good jumpers, as long as it is not about mindlessly chasing the horse as fast as possible over obstacles as high as possible without having control over the horses speed, direction or posture. People share their ideas to help Therese improve even more, and I think Therese can decide for herself if she wants to follow the advice or ignore it. So please don't act like that when people are simply sharing their knowledge and experience.
@chloejones36236 жыл бұрын
DieGinny I completely agree, my horse Jake had past owners who thought that if they taught him to jump by taking straight over a metre he could do anything, he doesn't know how to be collected or take the inside leg because they never taught that, all he knows is to jump out of panic. Know I am trying to teach him not to get tense
@dieginny31406 жыл бұрын
Chloe Jones It's really sad that people still don't know or simply don't care how harmful it can be to jump an unprepared horse. I've heard multiple people say things like "I can't do dressage, that's why I do show jumping, it's easier". Somehow these people don't really know what collection or suppleness is, and still try to jump their horses over a metre. I hope your horse learns to stay more calm, I think it would be a great relief for him too. Good luck to both of you!
@Amanda-rv5hz6 жыл бұрын
I'm not the one giving Therese unsolicited advice though, internet trainers are annoying as hell. And the advice really is useless because they don't know the horse or the training. Obviously whatever Therese is doing has been working since Cara has calmed down and gained weight and muscle. Maybe let Therese and her trainer handle this and you guys could bugger off somewhere else. Therese has said multiple times that she does not want advice on her training, her sharing her story is NOT an invitation to come and be a smartass and tell her how to ride her horse. Really what is she going to do with the advice from an amateur when she has professional trainers at her barn? If you have anything to offer people would pay for your advice, if people aren't paying you it's not likely that you actually have anything real to offer. And someone that trains people for a living would never waste their time on a youtube comment section. Like I don't get how equestrians think so highly of themselves all the time and think they can give just anyone advice. Like who are you even? What exactly are your credentials? How many paying students do you guys have? Because thinking you know how to train a horse from a few video clips really is rich, you must really be professionals if you can do that. And if you are I wonder why the hell you're giving your "advice" out for free instead of actually taking your time with paying students.
