Oath of Glory paladin is basically disney Hercules. Yes my friends with this subclass you can go the distance and find your way lol.

Tossing in 3 levels of Rune Knight Fighter also gives you the ability to grapple larger targets and can add a little bit of extra mythological flavor by having the character be the descendant of Titans. Plus, when enlarged you get extra height for your high jumps.

Height X 1.5 on the jump is your arms outstretched to grab and climb up and over. It isn’t quite extending the jump, but does add to the distance in a potentially useful way. This is part of why the thief’s second story work and climb speeds are useful. Climbing up that last portion takes more movement and this might prevent another creature from following up depending on circumstances.

I also like that combination of Spear and Polearm master with a barbarian, because you can use a shield with their unarmored defense, and rage adds damage to your attacks as well. If you multiclass into fighter you can pick up dueling, or you can take the fighter initiate feat for dueling. But that would be two feats on a barbarian so Human variant or custom lineage would help.

Love the flavour of this subclass, I also like multiclassing barbarian here, zealot is cool flavour wise and you get even more extra movement

The spear and shieldsetup is one I've used several times to decent effect. Anything with access to the dueling style can benefit from this. I agree that Glory is passed over. The oaths with strong offensive features are very popular. But the Paladin doesn't lack in simple combat. The addition of a ranged option and the movement and athletics enhancement fills in some gaps that other oaths ignore.

I haven't played a Paladin because I'm almost a forever DM haha, but of all the subclasses this one it's the only one that I felled in love with because of all the fun possible things you can do with that Channel Divinity and it's not 100% focused in the combat aspect of the game, so it's a big thumps up for me for someone who enjoys social stuff a lot.

Minor point- hoplitai were pure infantry, so as soon as you go for Find Steed (or just get a mount anyway), it's no longer a hoplite. Past that point (and given you're going to be wearing heavy armour), it's a cataphract

Here’s an ultimate grappler idea I had. Luxodon Echoknight / Monk (any) Luxodon can use its trunk to grapple, so two hands and one trunk for 3 grappled foes. Monk allows for unarmed strikes, which can include feet if you need a rationale for your DM. Echo from Echoknight can make attacks from its position as if it were you. Your Echo appears as you do so it has all your limbs. Echo on next round can make your attacks to grapple 2-3 more people depending on how you DM rules it. Grappler Feat will let you pin all these targets and you can still do them damage each round with a d4 or use your feet for Unarmed Strikes damage dice.

Don’t downplay the increased horizontal jump distance. If the DM uses terrain and cliffs and rivers, jump distance can come in clutch. DMs need to get away from open fields and boxy arenas with occasional trees or rocks or walls. Use terrain to emphasize the abilities your players have. I always give monk players something to jump across to make them feel cool when using Step of the Wind and feel strong. I’ve played Oath of Glory and the RP and athletics shenanigans are a lot of fun and set you apart from a lot of other paladins.

For Oath of glory paladin, I think you should consider dipping at least 3 lvls in glamor bard. So now mantle of inspiration has your allies (including your mount) move as a part of your bonus action.
@YourBoyNobody530

Unrelated to the video, but something people always tend to forget about blade singer wizards is that you can throw the shadow blade, and summon it back as a bonus action. So, when you run out of blade song uses you can still make incredible use out of shadow blade by throwing it. Shadow blade has a range of 20/60 so if your in dim light or darkness you can hit someone from 60ft away for up to 5d8 psychic damage without disadvantage perfect for when you need to keep your distance and deal some consistent damage. At max level throwing you shadow blade and attacking with fire bolt deals ~32 DPR without advantage which isn't that far off from the standard DPR baseline.

Grew up watching Documentaries on Thermopylae and loving the team work and aesthetic of the Hoplite. The Paladin's aura effects makes this tight knit fighting style perfect for this class. Sadly, when is used this idea in a campaign myself, I didn't use him well enough as a team player and lost him down a kobold mine. I miss Patyr the Satyr.

- I lost a char in a mine by venturing too far ahead once too. Wendy the Wendigo, Armorer Artificer that I themed as using shamanistic type magic and using parts of corpses and monsters to make her suit and themed it like she was a Wendigo. Went Dhamphir so she could crawl on the roof and origin species a centaur so it was super creepy. Looked in the wrong crevice and got taken out by a swarm of vampire bugs or something, like a dozen surprsie attacks that drained my blood. A shame ):

Unfortunately Aura of Alacrity says that your and your allies "walking speed" increases by 10 feet. So the aura will not increase the fly speed of your Find Greater Steed mount. It will increase the fly speed of certain MotM races that say that you have a fly speed equal to your walking speed though.

At level 7 you can body slam people! Bonus action Channel Divinity. Action attack swap first attack for Grapple. Jump 10ft up (costing 20ft of movement). Land and both of you take 1d6 damage making you both prone. Stand up (costing 20ft of movement). Second attack at advantage. 1d6 not really worth it but it sure is funny, works even better if you get a ring of feather fall, now you can jump twice doing 2d6 damage without taking any yourself and thus weaponizing your movement speed.

Nice intro. Technically 2+d6 is better than d8. Mathematically speaking. 600ft movment speed, with flying, Monk is crying and dying. xd Reading 15th lvl Oth of Glory feature I realise that having many Paladins with that oth could be like mini army squad.

Oath of Chads is more like it. I’ve been working on a glory build based on my favorite combination of jobs from Final Fantasy tactics; I call it the “holy dragoon”, which is a Dragoon (lancer) with the class abilities of a white mage. The D&D version uses a variant human with the athlete feat at lv1 and the mobile feat at lv4. If you’re familiar with the FF dragoon job then you know that the glory paladins jump height is key here. By lv4 I have 40 feet of movement to work with and with the athlete feat I only need 5 feet of movement to make a full long or high jump. Using the falling object rules from Tasha’s I can leap 16’ into the air (with peerless athlete and a strength score of 16) and impose a DC15 dex save on any enemy who’s in the space I land on; if I cast enhance ability (cat’s Grace) before jumping, I can land and take no fall damage, and if the the creature fails its dex save, they will take one D6/2 bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. Since this is technically allowed based on RAW, I can essentially deal damage and knock an enemy prone before I even make my first attack. Doing the math with 40’ of movement, I can run 5’ jump into the air 16’, land and finish my movement within 5’ of the space of the enemy I landed on-with 9 feet of movement to spare, if I use this jump within 5’ of the target. I personally take exception with the idea that any paladin class can be trash. Even the “oath of dumpster fire” Paladin is still a Paladin. On a sidenote, if the glory paladin takes the (Mobile) feat at any point in his/her career, you’ll end up with a movement speed of 50 at lv7; you’re a Paladin who can outrun a draft horse. Tell me that’s not the most goat-tier nonsense ever. You’re practically your own steed at that point.

Grapple-dropping an opponent into a fall is a perfectly fair and reasonable tactic. If used by players, however, they should be cognizant that the dragons can do that too, and not abuse the privilege...

I don't know if you ever really use homebrew content, but I think you could get a lot out of a build that combined Matt Mercer's Open Sea Paladin with the Swords Bard. Combine it with Crusher, and you have a build that can push enemies all over the battlefield, on top of all the strengths the multiclass already provides. Can't think of a class that really compliments this, but would be curious to see what you thought?

I'm kinda wondering... how is the +2 from Duelist upgrading the die size twice? I mean, if you get a 6 on a D6 and add +2 to it... wouldn't that make it an 8, not a 10? So, the +2 would upgrade the D6 to a D8 instead, unless there is something I am missing here. An extra +2 from Strength I guess? Also, why stow your spear? Why not your shield instead? That way you can still poke and bash the creature you have grappled. That said, why not add 10 more ft of movement, an extra +2 to your damage, and another way to get Advantage on Grapples... by taking a few levels of Barbarian? Granted, Haste is a Concentreation spell and thus can't have while Raging, but you can still Smite and Channel Divinity (Inspiring Smite in this case) while Raging.

That said, I did once have a Goliath Glory Paladin who I played as your typical goofy, yet egotistical Strongman, who was always looking for ways to test/show off his immense Strength. Like for instance... solo deadlifting the loaded wagon out of the mud... before proceeding to do overhead presses with it... with one hand... while flexing his other arm to show off... At least untill the party gets annoyed and asks him to "please put the wagon down so we can continue our journy..." Now, you may be wondering, where are the horses and oxen to help get the wagon out of the mud? **Puts wagon down and picks up the yoke** "Certainly. Let us continue." Ok, I exaggerated a bit, but was generally the idea I had for him. Basicly a pure strength Glory Paladin. Also, for anyone wondering what his Find Steed was... it was an Auroch. Whome he'd often have to wrestle with like Link from Twilight Princess, almost every time he summoned it. He'd also be wielding not one, but two large lances while riding into battle.

1. It raises the average damage by 2, so the max is lower, but the minimum is higher, making the average roll the same as 2 die sizes bigger. 2. A shield technically takes an action to equip or put away, while a weapon is just an item interaction (free once per turn). 3. A couple levels in barbarian is perfectly fine, just a matter of choice 👍

As someone who DMs and plays, as cool as this would be, it'd be VERY broken to allow someone to maintain a grapple when they're moved by something else (Aka when your mount moves, it doesn't break your grapple) and this just proves that lol so I'd suggest to my fellow DMs out there, don't let grapples be maintained when the grappler moves without using their movement speed!

Tasha's Cauldron of Everything introduces an optional rule: If a creature falls into the space of a second creature and neither of them is Tiny, the second creature must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or be impacted by the falling creature, and any damage resulting from the fall is divided evenly between them up to 20d6 bludgeoning damage.

Mythic Oddysey, not Mystic. And I only see one Paladin subclass in there. At lower level, I like the concept. At higher levels, too gimmicky for me. I've never been a big fan of mounts as class features because your mount is limited. It is not going into dungeons, boats, taverns, castles, towers. underwater etc. How does a flying horse work in a thick forest? Going to be a liability or a non-factor in a lot locations.

@D&D Daily Well, JC's tweet is not very clear but mounted grappling seems to work RAI but not RAW unless the weight was below your carrying capacity. Since you would be wearing Plate Mail, a shield, and a lance, the maximum weight you could drag would be 119 pounds. For this reason and for the trunk to grapple creatures, I think Loxodon is absolutely essential for this build.
