"They were free to come and go". It was 1 a.m. in the morning! With 15 yrs old. What the actual heck?? I am a social worker and really shocked. @@Vampire-666.Well you can't be old enough to remember all of the wrongful convictions here in the UK in the 80s and 90s. I can think of a few Irish people who would have been murdered by the judiciary since they were found to have been totally innocent. When you include the financial cost of the mandatory appeals process required by death penalty in the US, as well as the significantly higher standards of living afforded to death row inmates then it is a very expensive and time consuming project

I can NOT accept this process of our court system. Why the victims' family with broken heart and life have to behaive at the court hearings and fight for their right (also the safety of their community) over and over??? May you should say I do hope judges (and who ever determines these unjust sentences) have to face this kind of loss, or better yet pray Psalms 109 or other prayers of David against the Babylonian Justice System. But I have seen where the influential mentioned as the heavenly places in Ephesians 6 always have the stricter judgement done in there case with a thorough investigation but in the same area if you are poor or not in the Mason brotherhood, then in some communities they don't do a good job with the investigation or if there is a conviction, they don't give the tougher sentences. In this system it is who you are and/or what money you have; not about truth or justice. Jesus is coming soon.

Except there is only a very limited number of pupil referral units. Usually, there is only one per town. There would have been no choice but to send them to the same place. It should also be noted that incidents like this are, thankfully, very rare. It is very easy to be wise after the event. It would actually have been very difficult to foresee this crime. Those two boys were school bullies but they had never been convicted of a crime and would have seemed little different from any other child sent to that unit.

Utterly reprehensible, both the crime & the punishment. What they did, they were perfectly able to understand what they were doing/did. They should of NEVER been released, they won’t change, people that can do that once, can do it again I do wish there were catchups on this sort of thing, where are they now, how many other life’s have they destroyed, that kinda thing. His poor Mum & I also feel for the girlfriend, what a weight for both of them to carry for the rest of their lives. 😢

None of these teens were in the correct placement. Michael had mental health difficulties and possibly developmental delays. Putting him in a care home after losing his father 4 year earlier must have seemed like another abandonment. Mother didn't give the attention he needed for his serious emotional difficulties. The extremely violent kids on the other hand were rewarded with the placement. More attention less requirements for criminally violent behavior. They needed consequences for washing out of the mainstream school. The so called care home was absolutely inadequate to the task. Why was Michael outside at 1am where he was at the mercy of these ruthless kids. It's like they we're free to enact their own brutal justice and no one's monitoring anything.

His mother likely did the best she could. It’s very difficult to get psychiatric help for a minor. And she was likely not doing well after her husband passed away. I am also just blown away that the residents of these care homes can come and go as they please. This story was very hard to even listen to so I cannot imagine the horror his mother and siblings have endured. My wish is that Michael’s siblings are leading a good and honourable life in respect to the life he didn’t get to live. And his mom, you are so brave and so strong. There are not many people who could survive what you have been through. May you one day be at peace with your beautiful boy.

At the very least the two bullies who had bullied together needed to be placed into two separate schools. Without each other to egg on/impress, their “power” would have diminished significantly. I feel sorry for the entire school that those two ended up there.

I watch things like this and immediately picture my son in this position. For instance..when they hold the photo beside Michael's head and they couldn't identify him. I shake it out of my mind as quickly as possible because of the pain it causes. Am I abnormal for inadvertently doing this? It honestly make my blood run cold to mentally picture things this way. I cannot imagine the pain this mother felt and has continued to feel for the remainder of her life. The world is such a harsh place. I wish everyone reacted to the harshness in a similar way..as to give comfort to one another in our lack of answers. Just such a horrific tragedy here.

The only bit of humanity and all of this is a little over halfway through when the detective says she was throwing things at them out the front door to get them to not come in and tell her, he is in no way angry or sees her as a bad person and he's able to apply a comical setting to a heartbreaking situation,, humour is the best tool we have for anguish.... I can't believe those 3 murderers' bullies never were sentenced to death or gone to prison for murdering Michael. Because they are teenagers they are allowed to bully the victims, until one of them is tortured to death. Played the victim's body like a bag of trash, and the law still let them go free?! 😠😤😡🤬 I hope Michael's mom gets justice. No one is safe. RIP to the victim 😱😰😢😭
